Of course, always happy to help!! As far as the gimbal lock, I unlock each axis separately, balance that axis, re-lock it and then go to the next lock and so on. This doesn’t affect the auto lock function, when you boot up the gimbal it will automatically unlock all of the axis’s regardless of if they are locked or not. I hope that answers your question.

@JasonPischke

@@NoamKeidar Not every time, only if I am taking the camera off and putting it back on or changing lenses. If I balance it, grab a few shots and then turn it off to go to a new location, I will turn it on and go right back to shooting. My rule of thumb is that if I need to rebalance the gimbal, I usually run a calibration.

Hey Jason, the problem I'm finding is when I put on an ND filter on the camera it totally messes up the balance. I'm a wedding videographer, so I'm constantly swapping between inside and outside. I have the camera balance currently without the ND filter, can you suggest a happy medium where it's suited to both??
@JasonPischke
Жыл бұрын
The weight of an ND filter shouldn’t really throw off the gimbal too bad. If you are using an RS3 Pro the motors have more than enough power to compensate for a slight shift in weight. When I balance a 24-105 lens, zooming in and out shifts the balance way more than adding or removing an ND filter. I would try playing around with the motor power settings, adding a small amount of power to the tilt axis may help. Another work around since you are in a fast paced environment and are getting vibrations is run a calibration whenever you switch ND filters. You don’t need to rebalance the gimbal, but running a calibration helps to tell the gimbal just how much power needs to be sent to the motors. Hopefully that helps!!
Thanks I'm having trouble fitting a 6K black magic pro to this gimble it appears to be too bulky?

The DJI guide said to do the balancing with camera and DJI powered on but you powered on after. Does it matter?
@JasonPischke
Жыл бұрын
Not sure why they would recommend that, you would not want to power on the gimbal without balancing first. The moment your turn on the gimbal the motors are going to try to balance the payload regardless if it is properly balanced or not. This more than likely will result in them freaking out or overheating. I always balance before turning on, then run the calibration to make sure the motors are tuned to the payload. Having the camera on or off is sort of irrelevant because it won’t effect the weight in any way. Hope that helps!!
How do you fix the clamp for the camera mount on the gimbal though? It doesn’t have that feature

@JasonPischke
11 ай бұрын
That is what motor strength the gimbal has applied to each axis after calibration. They are fairly irrelevant as long as you don’t have any number that are too high. Motor use close to 100% can cause overheating but typically heavier payloads like the C70 will need more motor strength than something like a mirrorless camera.

Do you have to calibrate every time your camera comes off the Gimbal?
@JasonPischke
Жыл бұрын
You don't 'have to', but it is recommended. The motors will compensate for a little unbalance, but that can also lead to unwanted vibrations. If you would get something like quick release that allows you to place the camera in the exact same spot every time, then you could get away with not having to rebalance. Hope that helps!!

@@royaltykidstv I posted a video last week going over C-Log and Color Space and which one I use 🙂
I just got my second RS3 Pro from DJI after sending the first back after unpacking. The battery grip comes off if the locking lever is on open but without the safety button even touched. Once the grip is off it is clearly visible that the safety button moves a locking mechanism inside the gimbal but it does not hold the gimbal. Now I got a new one and it has the same issue and when I called DJI they told me: That the battery grip falls off without the safety button being pushed is normal. I would never trust this gimbal mounted somewhere or in underslung mode when by just accidentally touching the locking switch the whole things comes off. Anybody with the same issue?
@JasonPischke
Жыл бұрын
Sorry about the late response, I wanted to check this out for myself. Both the RS3 Pro and RS2 Pro that we own can be disconnected without the button being pushed. The locking lever is spring loaded and I did in both cases have to hold it in the unlocked position to pull the battery grip off, but I see your point. It doesn't really make much sense to have a release button if you can release it by simply sliding the unlocking lever, but I also have never heard of an RS2 or RS3 coming unlocked and falling apart. A good observation and something I will keep in mind if I have to rig the RS3 Pro outside of a car or on a jib.
Hey man, good video, but the roll balancing raises eyebrows 4:28 - the camera should remain steady when rolled to either side (as per official dji instructions, and my camera doesn’t recenter like yours either) so I’m not sure if that’s done right. 4:40 - roll* axis
@JasonPischke
Жыл бұрын
In my experience the camera has always righted itself back to center from the roll axis. Now this very well may differ from DJI’s method, on this video I have received comments talking about how the DJI method has no worked for them. I have used this same method to balance Ronin gimbals well over a thousand times at this point without any issues and so I am teaching the way I know works from years of experience and using these devices. Hope that helps!! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment 😊

@@JasonPischke thanks man! Loved this video! Big help!
I have the RS3 since it came out now, and there is a jerky movement that always got me upset... But I've just found out how to solve it. There is a hidden setting, only in the app, that nobody talks about, but that's a game-changer for me oO The issue: For example, if you do a tight Orbit movement, from a tilt down to a tilt up, depending on the speed you twist your wrist, the gimbal will ignore the speed set and quickly readjust to the new position. And the same kind of issue in FPV mode. That cost me a lot of very fluid and beautiful complex movements to become very jumpy and robotic oO Solution: In the app (only), go to the motors settings, then "Advanced" and then click on the "Strength" tab. This setting is pretty confusing and it reset each time you auto-calibrate, but not when you change modes. By default it sets it to Tilt: 17, Roll: 6 and Pan: 6 in my case. But by lowering it down, the gimbal is much smoother oO My settings at the moment are: Tilt: 10, Roll: 1 and Pan: 1, and even in 1, i find the roll still jumpy in fpv but much better. I'll keep playing around with it ;)
@JasonPischke

It will be the same procedure. Lock your camera into the sled in the vertical position and then start with the tilt axis, make sure that it is balanced both horizontally and vertically and then go though and balance the roll and pan axis's and you will be all set.
