How To Properly Recycle
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
For decades Recycling has been considered as the best way to handle our trash. And it makes sense, new products are created out of our trash that would otherwise be thrown away. But what can we actually recycle and how does it work?
In New York, only 50% of recyclables actually enter the recycling stream. Something that should be so simple has become quite complicated.
In this video, we dive into the do's and don'ts of recycling and interview the Deputy Commissioner, of the New York City Department of Sanitation, Bridget Anderson, to understand the process of recycling.

Thank you, Ryan! It's great to hear you'll be more aware of what you recycle going forward!
I hope everyone listened to the very end. He reminds us that recycling isn't the best thing! The best thing to do first, is reduce what we buy/use in the first place. After that, reuse what can be reused! THEN recycle. When we were little and learned the 3 R's, (reduce, reuse, recycle) we learned them in that order for a reason.

I always think this way and I think this should be mentioned much more than just recycling. The problem is, all the companies that use so much packaging and then it's our problem to get rid of it.
What is super important that we have to clean our recyclables. Thank you for your super informative video!

Reduce, reduce, reduce :)
Great video ! Very informative. The pizza box story is so true, There are so many things you think you can recycle but in fact are contaminated. I hope we get a video of your one year review of zero waste and how you maintain it, what trouble you had, etc... keep the videos coming ^^

Thank you, Matt! Great idea for the one-year review video topic! and yes we're working hard to keep the videos coming more often! ^^
My area just started allowing pizza boxes due to new data showing the grease cheese etc doesn't matter. So definitely check your area bc it is constantly changing.

hi! just stopping by because i need more recycling education. I have one bit of criticism for you: PLEASE increase your audio levels in your final mix! i'd say by at least 25%. compared to most youtube videos, yours are quiet. i will say though, the audio is consistent which is great :) on the actual topic and information, no complaints there! thank you and keep it up :)

then if you can't hear use close captions.
In New York State including NYC Bottles and cans ( Beer , Water and Soda) can be returned to any store that sells the product for a refund. The deposit is 5 cents . So those Coke a Cola cans you had in your video . You could have bought to a store and got a refund of 5 cents of each can . That is money you are getting back from NYS bottle and can tax you are paying. 12 Coke Cans in a box with a New York 5 cents symbol ,that's 60 cents you are getting back.

They're returned and we get our 5 cents, but the plastic isn't recycled. It's not profitable to recycle plastic, and very little is being done in the US. This video is naive and outdated. Cardboard, glass and metal ARE recycled.
❤️❤️❤️
Every single recycling room everywhere :( Feels!
I tried this and my wife left me :(

Ay! Thank you for coming to our KZread 🙏
bro...... everything going in the trash now. idgaf anymore. they not doing enough, so WE have to pick up THEIR slack and do THE MOST? fohhh. i've been trying to recycle properly for years, and now it's just too much...
This is naive. In the US, recycling plastic is a scam. We sort it, but only #1 and #2 get recycled, and often not even that. Recycling plants are privately owned, and recycling plastic isn't profitable. Everything else is recycled successfully.
