Thank you. In my case, the 'Auto resize VM with window' worked after installing the spice-guest-tools-latest.exe package on the windows 11 virtual machine.
Wow! Thank you;

If you're going to disable all Visual effects, I would still recommend keeping the following enabled: Smooth edges of screen fonts Show window contents while dragging Show thumbnails instead of icons
Most excellent! Please do a GPU passthrough video Love the idea of a Windows VM within Ubuntu, though the graphics performance is so very limiting in its current form - which is odd, as my system is very powerful(CPU/GPU etc)
@SysGuides sounds really cool, thanks a lot, just curious, is it possible to export your configuration in a file to decrease human monkey-repeating operations?
Followed your step-by-step to the letter... Thoughts on this? Unable to complete install: 'unsupported configuration: storage type 'dir' requires use of storage format 'fat''
hi @sysGuides , wonderful guide I have a problem , everytime i boot the windows vm , the first time i get a BSOD saying "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" , any suggestions ? Thanks
Awesome Thank you for Sharing! 💯✴ Is it the same procedure for Windows 10 professional?
@SysGuides

You’re most welcome. Yes, the procedure is the same for Windows 10 Professional. Make sure to use virtio-win.iso version 0.1.240. fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/stable-virtio/
This is good. But how do we passthrough a USB printer and a USB flash drive from Linux host to Windows 11 guest in KVM?
@SysGuides

In the Windows 11 VM's 'Show Virtual Hardware Details', click 'Add Hardware' -> 'USB Host Device' and select your USB device. Then, click Finish. Your USB device will now be available in the Windows 11 VM.
i would like to install on an existing windows machine and so would need to create a P2V of the original system and then install linux (Alma) then use KVM to create the VM from the ?VHD image from ?Disk2VM (would other converters be better and why)....it would be nice to access files from the image without having to create a VM and copy and paste them.
How can I troubleshoot audio issues within a Windows guest operating system hosted on Linux, and would it be possible for you to create a video tutorial illustrating the troubleshooting process?
Out of curiosity how do VMs work if you have the actual keycode for a Windows os? Is that just redundant now?
I can switch over to Virtio for the display driver in the properties, and it allows me to resize the resolution, but still not auto-size and can't include 2560 x 1440. Strange
Is there an finished image for KVM to share, so as to ease the installation process?
My Win11 installation is hanging after the UEFI startup screen, during the rotating spinner... I suppose something went wrong but I cannot figure out why...
Is it possible to run games on it? I've already done gpu passthrough but the vm runs so slow and choppy. so i gave up
what's the performance penalty? I don't expect to game on this, but running Lightroom at a usable pace would be nice (I have AMD gfx)

Since the VirtIO guest tools have been installed, which include QXL drivers, I believe you should be able to run Lightroom without issue.
I've followed everything to the letter, but after selecting _Begin Installation_ I get: Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..... BdsDxe: No bootable option or device was found. BdsDxe: Press any key to enter the Boot Manager Menu.
Which Rocky version do use, 8 or 9? I can't install QXL or SPICE...

Download the stable virtio-win version directly from the website and try it. fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-virtio/virtio-win-0.1.240-1/
When I use QXL for the display output, I am not able to change the resolution on the Windows 11 guest, and it's stuck on 1280 X 800. I have it configured exactly as you have included on the tutorial, but it's not working correctly. And I don't have the option to auto resize the VM to Windows

@@SysGuides That was it! Thank you!!
I downloaded the iso from the windows website. And I've done everything from the previous video and that too. When I try to install it, this text pop out " no bootable device or option was found"

Can you enter VM BIOS, then changing boot order?
So like for people who are not on fedora how do we get all those drivers and everything
@SysGuides

You can download virtio-win.iso. Watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fnx-yqiQZ8Kedaw.html
Will these configuration changes work post install, or do I need to install a fresh VM?
@SysGuides
2 күн бұрын
Yes, of course. First, mount the virtio-win.iso and boot Windows 11. Install the virtio-win-guest-tools package and then shut down. Then, change the VM configurations.

@@SysGuides As it turns out, my version of Virtual Machine Manager doesn't allow me to change the disk bus type once I install. Maybe I didn't do the initial install correctly, but thankfully I have this tutorial to use this time. Thank you for your help!
Do a gpu passthrough video please 🙏

@@SysGuides Cool, thanks! Also, Why didnt you chose to manually set the CPU topology? I followed the tutorial but assigning 12 cores now shows a just 1 cpu at task manager, and the cpu reaches 100% easily.
I have installed virtio drivers. However, I cant get auto resize screen to work. Im stuck on 1280x800 resolution too. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. ☺️👍

Have you used the virtio-win version 0.1.248 ISO file? This version does not support QXL, so auto-resizing is not possible. Use version 0.1.240 instead. The link is here: fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/stable-virtio/

Hello can you game on this. Games like pubg and fortinite without losing performance so much
@jasonsnell708

not unless you do GPU passthrough, which means you'll ONLY be able to run Windows vs. the native OS. I've tried this several times only to find out it's one or the other, you can't run the native OS AND Windows VM. I went back to vmware workstation and/or Bottles (testing and playing around with both)
Can we implement all of this in windows 10? (If you said it in the video, I may not have realized that English is not my mother tongue).
@SysGuides

Yes you can.
If I do that, can I play heavy videogames on windows 11?
@SysGuides
Ай бұрын
I'm not a gamer, but I believe heavy games on a Windows virtual machine require a GPU with passthrough.
I have followed the guide but unfortunately my CPU usage almost never gets below 100% :( Most of it due to windows update.
@SysGuides

Shut down Windows 11. In the virtual hardware details, navigate to the CPUs section. Enable 'Manually set CPU topology'. And change it as follows: (1) Socket:1, (2) Core: The number of cores you want to enable, and (3) Thread: 1. Start Windows 11 and see if this solves the problem.

@@SysGuides Thanks for the reply but unfortunately this doesn't work either. Interestingly this isn't an issue when I run windows 10 as a vm. Both windows 10 and ubuntu vm use less than 10% CPU when idle. Only in windows 11 it *almost* never gets below 100%, and when it does, it hovers around 60-70% usage. I noticed this issue when my fans got loud while windows 11 was idling.
i hope this works lee mee try
