    Any non-abrasive sponge will do, the best is polyamide covered one, I've got one from Tibhar (the same delicate material used to clean kitchen tables or window glazing). What bothers me is the hard rubbing of the rubber surface presented by the author of the video. For cleaning, any specialized agent from TT producers will work, but running water with a drop of dish soap for degreasing will be the best. If I'm in a hurry and need the rubber to dry quickly, I use just some window cleaner based on alcohol, as this does not chemically affect rubber. I have a spray solution to which I added a few drops of dish soap and it works perfectly. If I want to have extra clean surface and what is important the best grip it can offer, I use additionally the spray for rubber print rollers, which is specially designed for cleaning and restoring the grip of these rollers (essential for precision printing), I bought mine just for some 5 € a 100ml spray(I bought it a year ago and the bottle is still half full), the brand is AF International, the German name Platenclene, but there are several available on the market and I believe they are all good for our purpose.

    I use two steps: Wipe off paddle with water and sponge rinse clean sponge now use solution and sponge to clean rubber This way you are removing the majority of the loose dust with the water and you will then have a clean sponge and clean solution to rub over your paddle. Try to avoid rubbing dirt and dust into the rubber pores.

    I got my first racket in '92 or '93 can't remember...I was 11 or 12. It was a SKITT blade, SKITT Anaconda on bh and Yasaka MarkV on fh (can't remember the thickness). As kids when we cleaned our bats we went to the sink in the classroom 😄, holding the rubber under a low stream of water on both sides then with a shaking motion got rid of the water. Immediately after that we applied a protective foil and used a ruler in a 45 degree angle to scrape the foil in order to get airbubbles out. Totally insane since the water was soaked in the wood when no care was taken... I always cleaned it that way and my bat held 3+ years. This is just a childhood memory and no tutorial 🤷🏻‍♂️.

    1. Do not use cleaning product too often. 2. Demineralized water is sufficient for regular cleaning. 3. Any special table tennis sponge is suitable. 4. Immediately after cleaning, apply a protective film (Donic Formula, Nittaku, etc.) to the rubber, removing air bubbles with a roller. 5. Remove the films before playing, the rubber will be clean and the tiny dust will stick to the film. Your cleaning method is too aggressive, especially on sticky rubber. Our rubbers wear out just by rubbing a small plastic ball ... so imagine with a degreaser and a sponge ... Have fun

    1. A non-aggressive cleaning table tennis spray is okay to clean your rubber with after every table tennis session in my opinion. It’s meant for cleaning and protecting your rubber - (Diluting a solution is also an idea, if it’s too aggressive). Although, I usually prefer a non-foamy cleaning spray or sprays that don’t contain a lot of soap. The Tibar Grip spray used in the video works as it should. Tibar states that it’s a “cleaner that cleans and prolongs the life of your rubbers and improves their grip”; which is why I personally use it and believe it does a good job. Also, there are many other good sprays that work just as well! 2. I agree. Demilitarized water works just fine, although it does not dissolve or remove the oils from fingers or sweat that build up on your rubber that easily. That is why most rubber cleaners have a small amount of a cleaning agent. 3. Yes, any “special cleaning sponge” should be suitable. As stated in the video some cleaning sponges leave remnants on the table tennis rubber, like the Butterfly Cotton Sponge. Nonetheless, when using most “special cleaning sponges”, whether they leave remnants or not, the rubber is suitable for playing just fine; also stated in the video. 4. Agreed. Although, rather than a roller, I just use my fingers to remove the air bubbles from the protective film. 5. Yes! Definitely remove the films before playing🤓. Also, I try to avoid getting dust on the films. True, I was cleaning the black rubber a little bit too aggressively. I even stated that I wanted to “do more of a deep clean” for the purpose of the video and test the Butterfly Cotton Sponge results under good light. Although when cleaning the red rubber, you’ll see that I gently used the Butterfly Clean Care Sponge and it worked perfectly the first time leaving absolutely no dust, oils or sponge remnants behind. I thought that was pretty amazing. Thanks for the input!

    Your sponge will collect and keep all these particles no matter what you do. I use a fresh piece of cotton, soaked in warm water and squeezed. After drying it up by air alone, I wrap the racket in food-wrap membrane. The stickiness of the rubbers simply refuses to drop. Because the cotton is fresh every time, and so is the wrap. At almost zero cost. I see no reason to waste money on specialized cleaners.

    It's really funny about all the divergent things i have heard about cleaning table tennis rubbers. When i was in school (1970s) water was BAD. You were told to NEVER let water touch the rubber, it would ruin it. My next spate of activity was in the 1980s and 90s - water was now OK and touching the rubber with your hand was BAD - oils from your skin would get into the rubber and ruin it. People used dishwashing detergent to clean their rubbers. Fast forward to about 2015.. now oil was GOOD.. after all, people were applying baby oil and other (expensive) oils to "boost" their rubbers, this made the rubbers softer and you got more spin and speed. Besides there were all sorts of videos of pros wiping off their bats with their hands during games. So i dunno.. these days after playing i just put some water on the rubber, wipe it off with my hand, let it dry for a few minutes and then put the protector sheets (these days just a large Ziploc bag) on and put it away.

  • @ZantierTasa
    @ZantierTasa9 ай бұрын

    Put your hand under a cold tap, and wipe the rubber. Repeat until you can't feel any dirt. Shake the bat and your hand, and wipe the bat with your hand to spread the water so it evaporates quicker. Once the bat is fully dry and grippy, put it back in its case. My Palio Expert 2 still worked very well after 4 years, and I just did this after every 1-3 sessions.

    @@dfy well... I was looking for a method, I was really getting into it, I had my paddle, some water, maybe some basic household detergent, but then when I saw you were using a special cleaner which I didn't have I thought, hey, I don't have this product and I got me son saying hurry up dad it's getting dark. Anyway I don't have this cleaner and I'm really like not going to wait a couple of days to get this cleaner and then come back to this video to watch the rest possibly to be told that I have to use a special cleaning pad to apply it with. Since then my Abilify has kicked in so all is good.

    @@chrisw7402 Use plain old water and a regular dish sponge (the soft side) will work just fine. You can make your own solution using 1/100 ratio dish soap and water. Good luck my man
