Really helpful. I've got ACL surgery soon and I've been told I'll probably need crutches for two weeks, but nothing about how to use them. Don't think post-op I'll be really clear headed and I've got 19 steps to deal with after getting home, so this came in handy and lessened my anxiety.

Not on the topic of using crutches but I have a problem. I once was doing a jump serve at volleyball practice, twisted and landed wrong and ever since, my knee has been giving me unbearable pain and hurts to walk and even bend. The doctors told me it is hamstring tendinitis but I have a gut feeling it is more than that. I go back for an MRI but what do you think?

The orthopedic doctor I saw for my broken ankle didn't tell me anything. Just gave me a walking air cast at first then I messaged her that night saying I'm in too much pain and sense told me to come pick up some crutches. I've sused them before years ago but like 12 years or so. Like I remember how to use them lol or even use them correctly. She also told me I could bear weight on my broken ankle that is broken in 2 spots. Mind you I was urgently worked in because I couldn't walk and when I got there no one offered me help or a wheelchair and they made me walk all over. I'm in extreme pain even a week later and she just tells me to take Tylenol. And I already am. I'm not even trying to get pain meds I just want to be a comfortable or as comfortable as possible.

When someone breaks a leg, it perplexes me why a doc would suggest walking with a crutch on one leg, knowing there is a risk of falling and injuring the good leg thereby being totally crippled or the risk of injuring/wearing down the joints of the upper extremities which then becones chronic. It is as if they want the patient to suffer or worsen. It does not make sense to injure the good leg while the fractured leg is trying to heal. 🤔
