HOW TO PROPAGATE FLOWERING VINES| Sigmoidotropis Speciosa/Snail vine (WITH FULL UPDATES!)

How to Propagate Flowering Vines- Corkscrew Vine/ Snail vine/ Vigna Caracalla from cuttings
Snail vine, also known as corkscrew vine- is a fast growing plant that dawns beautiful purple flowers. It trails over walls, trees, and can even grow on the ground! It’s a perennial in zones 9 through 11. In zones 8 and below, where there is frost, it can be grown as an annual, however it usually always comes back. I was surprised to see that there weren’t any youtube videos that showed how to propagate corkscrew/ snail vine from cuttings. I really wanted to see not only how to do it, but the whole process- how long it would take to see roots, when I could expect it to start blooming, and how fast it would grow. So i’m here to show you EVERYTHING- from rooting it, to how long it took for the first flower to show, and more. We’re going to save you money, and help you grow a beautiful garden :)
These are flowers that bloom all year round in Southern California (zone 10b)

Great video with great advice. I found that saturating soil with water is beneficial for reducing the shock. Also, I think this is the Sigmoidotropis speciosa (aka Phaseolus giganteus in horticulture), not a Cochliasanthus caracalla (syn. Vigna caracalla). I grow both species and they are both amazing and easy as potted plants in temperate climates.

Thank you so much 😊 I just looked this up, and apparently there is some confusion in the community about the name. You’re right that it’s name is Sigmoidotropis Speciosa but it’s still commonly referred to as Snail Vine. Thank you for that. Also, where did you get your Vigna Caracalla?

@@BirdofParadise You're welcome, your plants look amazing. The species are easily distinguished by the seed size and shape. Also, vigna has a complex and numerous inflorescence with multicoloured fragrant flowers while sigmoidotropis has inflorescences with smaller number of purple-lilac flowers with the sweet smell but only during the morning and night. In my experience, sigmoidotropis can flower year-round but vigna flowers only at the end of the season, it surely has to do something with daylight shortening and/or colder night temperatures. Hope I helped. I bought seeds of C. caracalla on sunshine seeds site.

Great video! I was able to root some cuttings from my mom's viburnum shrub and they took! The plant is now 6-7 feet tall and blooms beautifully every year with large white pompom flowers. All I did was take the cuttings and leave them in water. I changed the water every so often.
