How to Progress Your Mountain Biking WITHOUT Crashing and Getting Hurt
Ойын-сауық
To make big progress on the bike, you have to take big risk, right? WRONG!!! Over the last few years I've progressed further than I ever dreamed possible, all without any incident, and today I'll show you the process I've been using to help me do so!
I've always wanted a way to show that it is indeed possible to progress our mtb skills without ever having to make some massive leap of faith and risk life or limb. This is a lesson I learned the hard way.... a few times... and yet again recently. This time, though, I decided to make a video documenting the process I take when approaching a new feature or even one that I've crashed on and is now in my head, so in today's video, that's just what we are doing!
I hope you enjoy following along as I take you through the process I have come to rely on over the last few years and conquer this most recent feature that got the best of me, and I REALLY hope that you are able to find some useful tips or tricks along the way so that you too can progress your skills in a safe and smart way... WITHOUT ever having to 'Just send it.'

been downhilling for twenty years (started when I was forty years old). The week I turned fifty I crashed hard in Winterpark breaking my leg. Came home, decided the time had come to give up DH, MX and dirt jumping. So, I sold everything. One year later, bought everything back as I could not stay away. Sixty now and still killing it😁

@@fartrellcluggins The Carrera vengeance 2020 (currently £350) is a phenomenal bike. The stock tyres have allotof rolling resistance but they grip well on almost anything, are okay in the rain and the sound they make when you put your power down will be so epic! For me the tyres were even resistant to broken glass bottles! The shifting is okay and the breaks are okay providing you keep them clean (unlike me).

This video ACTUALLY helped me earlier today. There are these drops at this really cool bike park. I've always had a fear of drops that have a bottom I can't see, which is why I always preferred flat drops. I did what you said and just got stoked and hopped off the edge no problem and landed perfectly. When I rode the drop, it felt so much smaller than it seemed. Thanks so much for the tips! It helps a ton!
The most encouraging yet dangerous advice you can ever get when riding mtb, "Just send it!" If I had a dollar for everytime I saw someone crash after listening to that advice, I'd probably be a millionaire now.
The thing just send it is my motto for almost everything. Work not fully done? Just send it. Scared to text a crush? just send it. Writing an important email? Just send it. Some feature scaring you? Send it (but with cation)

Thanks for making this. My son is a crazy, risk taking skier who’s now getting into Mtn. Biking. He needs to realize that hucking a double back flip off a sketchy cliff on skis is entirely different than most anything questionable he’ll try on a bike.

Yeah I have a pretty sizeable backyard (about 2 acres but only 1 for biking) and I’ll hit anything I build, then my dad comes out, then there’s some new sketchy creation of his. Then there I am flying down a hill towards a 30 foot gap.

Alex I have been a long time fan and supporter. Thanks again for that infectious laugh and motivation to ride hard...... ! Mt Biking probably saved my life by helping me loose weight and generally improve my cardiovascular system. Doc was shocked how it turned me around in such a short period of time. I'll be doing a long distance backcountry ride on Iron Mt in Va for my 61st birthday and you can be bet I'll watch your vids the night before! Keep Rippin it :)
One of my main problems lies in that I don't have access to progress-able jumps and or trails. I can either Send it, Build it or Don't ride.
@MrScrofulous

Yeah, me too. I haven't found many well built progression areas yet in Oz. I'm starting to dig and build. Don't really have a lot of land where I can do that, currently building some drops in a creek bed in western Qld, competing with the flies and watching out for snakes.
Bro how are you gonna get the Stoke levels that high while I’m stuck at work and can’t ride today! That final send train edit was amazing!
Your videos have progressed so much over the years, not only your riding skills. Very clean, informative and fun to watch! For a very impatient person, I’ve never once though, “get to the point!” 10/10
