With driver door unlocked & open; other doors closed, insert key into ignition and remove twice within 5 seconds. 2. Within 40 seconds, close and open driver door twice, then insert key into ignition and remove the key. 3. Again, within 40 seconds, do these in sequence: close and open driver door twice, insert key into ignition and leave it, close the drivers door, turn the key to the ON position without starting the car (dashboard lights up), turn off the ignition and remove the key 4. The doors should lock and unlock within 3 seconds signalling programming mode is active. 5. Within 40 seconds, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons of the remote you want to add for about 1.5 seconds. Let go of the buttons and immediately press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds. The locks should cycle once within 3 seconds, showing that the programming was successful. NB: If the locks cycle twice, the key was not accepted. Repeat step 5. To add additional remotes repeat step 5 on the additional remote. Be sure to stay within the 40secs window. 6 Exit programming mode by opening and closing the driver door. If its a 2001 - 2007 Highlander, you're in luck. If 2008 or later, you'd need a scan tool!

06 Camry wasn’t going into programming mode so I bought and installed a new door controller… car goes into programming mode now - the key fob cycles like it’s successful, but then doesn’t lock or unlock anything. Fuse isn’t busted… what else do I do?

No. Smart entry cars need scanners to program if I recall correctly.

They’re new ones from Amazon. Thinking batteries are weak from sitting on a shelf for extended periods. Your thoughts?

I have tried this on my 2011 Corolla as the process is the same from my research. I have the right key. I can't get it to program. Either I get the locks cycling informing me it wasn't accepted or nothing happens. I thought maybe it was just a bad battery so I replaced it. I just can't get it to program. What are some reasons the fob won't program? Any suggestions on whst I should do?

​@@DIYAutoworksNG according to the research I did it doesn't require an obd2 scanner for the remote part of it. I did it exactly the same way in my wifes 2013 with no scanner and it worked on the 1st try. Just that it did incase I tried my Autel and it does even less than if I don't use a scanner.

No. Every car manufacturer has a different modality for key fob programming

Are you 100% the new fob has the correct FCC ID? Also be sure it's battery is charged.

@@DIYAutoworksNG it’s definitely charged it makes the lock flick 2 times like it’s not accepting it. And I’m not sure about the ID the fob is from my old 2006 Camry I had a couple years ago

I was able to access programming mode, but the remote wouldn't pair. Do I need the original key? And how do I verify which fob to get (I had thr same one you have in the video that was for a 2006 Tundra)? I replaced the battery in the fob just in case.

Press and hold lock and unlock for about 1.5 secs, leave all buttons, then press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds. You may need to watch that part of the video over if it's not clear. Hope the battery in the fob is the correct rating and it's good?

It works until I open the trunk and then it stops working. A by attempt to unlock the car doors with the unlock button for the doors only opens the trunk. I don’t get it.

Bro.pls help..my Corolla 2010 key fob is no more working..it can't lock d car anymore..it can't do anything again only that i can still use it to start the car by putting the keyfob Infront of the push start button bfr i can start the car...that's how I v been using it...and it will show a cance key sign on the dashboard...I v Change the battery no show

Every remote has a battery rated for it, indicated by a number. Common ones are 2025, 2032, 2016, 1616 etc. It may be written on the inside of the fob or in the owners manual. Renata, Sony, Varta, Duracell etc are good brands.

A 94 Corolla has no chip. You just cut the key with a locksmith and you're good

The system must be aftermarket, and will generally depend on the instructions from the manufacturer. Do you know the maker of the system?
