    Good video. May I ask, when carpet lining up to where the rubber door seals sit, do you wrap the carpet over the metal lip on the bodywork, or trim the carpet level with the lip? I'd prefer to wrap the carpet over the metal lip, but I'm concerned that if I do that, the thickness of the carpet will mean the rubber seals won't go on properly and they could leak.

    If you are using screws to attach panels then you'll need to use a 2.5mm drill bit and use general purpose pozi-drive screws about 30mm long. The drill bit is about the same diameter as the solid part of the screw.

    If you are just carpeting the wall panels and screwing them in place then you don't need to remove ceiling panels. If you are carpeting the walls fully up to the ceiling then it is best to remove ceiling panels and carpet walls up above ceiling level so the edges are neatly hidden.

  • @kiravans5874

    @kiravans5874

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi, The rheostat (or rotary) control works by twisting the control knob to the desired heat setting, and using the buttons listed to determine the heaters function. Variable output is simply high to low heat/fan speed. The temperature button switches the heater to thermostatic mode (the heater will then switch to a cool-down cycle automatically once it has reached the selected temperature). The fan button only switches the fan on for cool air.

    Sorry, just re-read your question and I think you are referring to the lining carpet. As I am screwing carpet lined plywood panels to the main wall areas, the first step of carpet lining is just to cover the exposed metalwork, which surrounds these panels. The easiest and neatest way to do this is to carpet line the whole side of the van with one large piece of lining carpet. If I just tried to cover the metalwork with strips of carpet there would be lots of unsightly joins. This technique is a bit more wasteful of carpet but does allow for the removal of wall panels if required later. I could have cut out the carpet locally behind the plywood panels and would do so in future if I needed access to those cavities but thought I'd just leave it as extra insulation/sound deadening in the meantime. Hope that helps to explain.

    What are your thoughts on a vapour barrier

  • @kiravans5874

    @kiravans5874

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Brian, we don't use a vapour barrier on our vans personally but its each to their on decision on this topic. From research we have learnt that its can be very difficult to create a vapour barrier that would cover the entire van area 100% which is what would be needed. Usually there is still potential for vapour to get in though around light fittings, switches and if it seeps in through here and has no way of getting out as the rest of the van is protected by the barrier it is likely to just accumulate which could result in further harm down the line. With materials such as paneling and lining alone any vapour that does come in should also be able to go back out again. We found this video very interesting on the topic: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e56O25iycdHNn7Q.html Like we said however we dont personally use them but others might and may have tips to ensure a 100% protection.
