I had grain mites in my mealworm colony when I first tried raising them. Since then, I've always frozen the grain and haven't had a problem again. 👍

Does that actually work? I usually bake mine at 250 for a few hours and I don't have as many problems. It's just hard to fit the amount of wheat bran I buy into the oven.

I had some grain mites invade one of my bins recently, I just cut back on the moisture and let the larvea eat them all.

Love this stuff,any way u can make some videos on the normal yellow mealworms,maybe about not giving to much moisture orr their life sickle stuff like that,think people will love watching it🙂🤝

Hello I have reptiles in my bed room and noticed some grain mites on the gecko enclosure I’ve took the source away and cutting back on humidity I’m doing a deep clean I keep seeing dish soap and warm water is best to kill them ? Do you have any advice ? Thank you

In the gecko enclosure? That shouldn't be, there shouldn't be anything like that in their enclosure. I'd check and start at where you keep you bugs. Grain mites shouldnt manifest in its enclosure, unless maybe it's a bioactive. Not sure. Keep me updated please. I'm curious.

@@KCExotics hey thansk for the reply 😊 I keep the food on top of the enclosure which is where I think they have come from ingot rid of the food and have been cleaning and wiping only been couple of days I think I got it early I see one and when I do I wipe the area down I’ve read online about them it seems to be reduce the humidity and keep wiping the area down and eventually the will die off the joys of reptile keeps 😂

Does bleach kill them? I threw all my food out 💀! They scared me!

It does, but its likely to kill everything. You can wipe them off with a paper towel.

They're spooky and gross, but not really dangerous to anything. In fact superworms tend to treat them like snacks when there isn't much food or moisture.
