I find it hard to believe that a lot of people don't clean their coffee maker. That being said I am regrettably one of those people and currently cleaning mine. Thanks for the info and I probably reading instruction manuals for everything from now on.

I been running white vinegar through my coffee machine for years. Make sure you do two full pots of hot water afterwards or your coffee will taste like like vinegar.

I use coffee pods from a certain company but what’s cool about them is that they’re in aluminum pods

The fancy machine in her home was a Jura. It's not a smart idea to run vinegar through that machine. Definitely keep cleaning it with the solution that the company sells, it's way safer. Plus descaling any coffee machine with a water reservoir regularly is gunna help keep that clean. I used to sell a lot of different types of coffee machines.
