Figure-eight loop, or Bowline with with Yosemite finish can be an option as well. In this case the length of the loop keeps the knot away from the prusik.

Great video Bino making people aware. I watched an Arborist bring up this subject b4. He just wouldn't use a termination knot & I have a sewn-loop on the line I use my Eccentric on. Earlier in the year I took the 5' Split-tail off my other climbing line for MRS. I used a loop prusik above my sewn eye to attach my tail end of my split-tail so the system would be self-tending. With no split-tail I used a 2-eye Michoacon hitch & attached it to my Fusion Carabiner which the sewn-loop fits very nicely on. After putting the English prusik above my sewn loop I took a 36" 8mm Oplux which was just cord that the ends of it were shrink wrapped. I tied the 2 ends to the tending prusik. Then with the bight end of it I put a simple loop on it. I attached a small WEI Kong carabiner on the loop & clipped large end of the carabiner under the hitch for self tending. It works great unless u put too much length between your sewn-loop & the prusik loop. But u will know it when your Kong gets jammed on your Michoacon. With the right length it will move the hitch smoothly & when u take tension out the carabiner drops about 4" below your hitch & ready to repeat the process. That Kong carabiner works very well with the Sterling 8mm Oplux. Very strong & light items like Blue Amsteel. 👍

@@BinoH Tomorrow I get off work early Bino. I will put that rope system in my double maple @ 🏡. Then I can upload it to a KZread channel that is for a very small local crowd that I post videos for. Things I do @ 🏡 on my farm. I will show how well it works when u do it right & what happens if it isn't right. It's reliable unless u get greedy & try to get a longer pull which doesn't allow the carabiner to drop below the hitch a few inches. I will send u a code for the channel with a private message as soon as I get a good video of it posted.

Thanks for testing this with your expert eye. I followed the male stereotype and tried many workarounds before reading the manual….and I’ve been using a floating prusik, which affords convenient bridge length changes, but is not so convenient for moving/advancing the anchor.

An anchor hitch works even better but some people don’t feel comfortable using that knot. I’m not allowed to use it where I work. We have to use a triple fish. 😬. Thanks for the vid. 🧡👊🏻🇨🇦

Could you use 2 carabiners on the termination for length?

I have a question. It seems like climbing trees are not permitted anywhere all around in Los angels county, California . I was planning to climb some trees at some local parks to practice at first. But now , I don't know where I can . Do you have any ideas where and how I can practice tree climbing? If you could please help me with this issue , it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You are right very difficult. Early morning and not out in the open.

I do the same thing with the bosses not for the last 69 years, I’ve been climbing soon, so 17 The way I do it it is very simple and quicker in an emergency situation

When I used to climb with the hitch climber I would use a bowline with a long loop so the knot was away from the hitch. What do you think?

a regular bowline is not recommended as a termination but a bowline with a Yosemite finish can be used. My self I would rather use a cinching termination knot to make sure the carabiner will not side load.

It still tends the line but there is more setback.

I use True Blue and a split tail. If I was to spend $$$ on a hitch climber setup, it doesn't make sense not to just buy another climb line with a sewn eye or spliced eye.

That's is a point.

you could add a 8" ring to ring strap

I just use a dmm pinto pulley instead of the hitchclimber. Your termination biner is turned 90 degrees so it doesn't matter what knot you tie it's out of the way. Never unexpectedly started creeping down my rope since.

No way. Pretty sure the instructions for the DMM pulley specifically says not to use any termination knots under any circumstances. If you cant afford a spiced rope then you should use another system.

I've read through the manual a few time and the only thing I see is a section where it says low profile termination should be used. In the manual the do show that a figure 8 on a bight could cause your fiction hitch to run. www.treemagineers.com/pdf/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf

@@BinoH Yes - sewn or spliced are terminations are low profile but knots are not considered low profile. They are bulky and can make the rope run if the hitch pushes against your termination knot. Not ideal if you're using a saw. Another issue would be lowering the ropes MBS by using a knot compared to using a spliced termination. I feel that a spliced rope is safer in many ways and seems to be the direction the industry is going. Thanks for your content Bino, really appreciated

It'd actually better tp use top hole ..puts less force against the hitch. Buy never seen it affect the hitch in any senerio..it might touch it but to release it needs to press down 👇 just never seen it..anchor knot is best..it used to be industry standards to use anchor with Blake's hitch..even seen what's his name instructor doing courses on this method. Can't remember his name short guy .he just did video on two rope systems in Japan I think it's rich his name long time certified trainer ..as if thar matters ..most tree crews I vevseen in 30 years are down rite scary.....it's why I left production work and years later after health issues started my own tree care..,,,creation arborcare....tree work is life style not a pay check ..it's not race production has destroyed tree work its now 5to 8 guys standing around while machines do everything..and thar somehow makes them more professional it's beyond frustrating..and lazy..for picking up loggs sure but that's about it. Wish I could go back to being young and doing it on my own would be unstoppable..getting older 🧓
