I have a few cars that are yellowed because they were bought second hand. My cars are stored in plastic boxes. It's the only storage I can truly afford for my thousands of cars at the moment. Sure, the paint sometimes chips from them being in there, as well as from being raced on my downhill track.

I have never had the yellowing effect. I always stored my diecast in plastic containers and kept them in a cool place.

I just bought a 2000 ward burton car that shattered to 20 different pieces, and had to spend an afternoon super gluing it back together 😂.

Great video, man! I use the Carney plastic cases for my loose diecast. They are great for storage and displaying diecast! Even with yellowing, diecast can be appreciated still no doubt! Great lessons for younger collectors and collectors in general!

Fantastic video man! I never thought of the temperature, a lot of great information in this video. The majority of my diecasts are pretty new so I'll keep this stuff in mind to preserve them!

Great video Garrett. I use cases & tackle boxes to store my cars but I make sure I don’t have my window reflect into my closet. That and I don’t smoke so I’m good lol

It stinks as a COT collector that a lot of those cars have yellowed now and it’s a lose lose to fix it or leave it, I’ve bought nib 2008 Roush fords where the interiors are yellowed.

What is it about COTs in general that affects them worse? I'm not sure if any of my vintage diecasts even are yellowed, at least not badly.

@@polycube868 if i had to guess they changed the plastic mixture when they starting making the cot diecasts in 2007, possibly to cut costs and the changes in ingredients/mixture yellow much faster than the Gen 4 era stuff Like for instance the plastic interior piece from a 2007 Gen 4 1/64 feels different, more flexible than the 2007 COT plastic interior

@Diecastbuffet to be honest I don't have many COTs, and the ones I do have all came from 2008-2010, haven't bought a single winged COT, have some 2011 and 2012 cars but that's it.

@@Diecastbuffetthat was my thinking too especially with the economy crash around that time, it could also be the different manufacturing plants since it’s mostly the fords I’ve seen yellowed. Chevys and dodges some too but mostly the fords are very yellow
