How to preserve vehicle patina with boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits (Nissan 720)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I show you guys how I attempt to preserve my patina on my Nissan 720. I use boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, which you can get at any hardware store along with some painters towels. I decided to clean my surface with some acetone before I start, but its up to you what you want to use. I just suggest using a clean surface. I do 4:1 linseed oil to mineral spirits mix in a 32oz cup. I recommend only mixing about 12oz for a project this size because If you mix a whole cup of 32oz you will have extra. I stored mine in a mason jar. Once you have your mixture made, it doesnt take very long to apply, its up to you as to how shiny you want your surface. It will take 24-48 hours to dry depending on how thick you have it. If you feel like you have applied too much you can always go over it with a clean dry towel and wipe off any extra. Thanks for watching!!

So how is it looking after a few months as far as car washes is a bounce up on your windshield or you have you had any issues or does it look like the day you did it?

So the truck looks great still. It is in the garage so that helps a lot. It really all depends on how much you wash, and what kind of weather it’s in. Also when you apply it make sure it is dry before you get it wet. I did my 68 caddy and it rained that night it really made a mess of it. But I would tell you to try it out on a fender or something to see if you like the way it turns out.
