I've used them but I only soak them for: 8mm - 45mins and 6mm - 30mins then I pour all of the water away leaving them very wet or add a small amount of flavouring and give them a shake. I then keep them in an air tight container overnight and they're perfect even in the open air so long as they're not in the sun. Soft all the way through, but tough and no cracking. I've even added colours after soaking and gone through several false strikes (tiny fish playing around) and they don't come off the hook easily, but...
I have found, soak as Joe has done, but use extremely cold water melted ice for example. Keep them in the fridge over night. Just before you start fishing, tip them into a shallow bait tube, but only leave a millimetre or two of water in, and give them a light shake around the bottom of the bait tube every 30-45 minutes. Keep them out of the sun. I did this last time out, and had no problems with cracking, or coming off the hook. Perfect every one.
Thanks for the help, I was putting straight on my hook without soaking em...no wonder they kept splitting.
Brian johnson, I have been using these in 6 & 8mm all summer long and had great bags of carpand bream on them, easy to prepare and store,
First of all, he talks about using these pellets in winter. Its July 5th, I was using them yesterday and have been using 6mm expanders for the last 2 months and catching well on them!
I done exactly that yesterday and about 3 hours into the match they started cracking and wouldn't stay on the hook very long
I’ve done exactly what Joe has done and all mine split after 2 hours. Mind you I have had them since they came out so must have the original ones. Have Sonubaits updated anything in the recipe since then. Also do they have a shelf life?
These expanders. Once you get to the bank what do you do with them put them in a bait tub in water or just leave them in this little tub in the water. Or do you take them out the water. Thanks
I just pour pellet soak over them, don’t even use water.
