after purchasing a savage flux and 15 lipo packs later . and a full tear down i found little wear on any parts diffs/ gears look perfect . i flushed the diff cups out and half filled with 30,000 kyosho diff oil , the bearings needed replacing though some slop in 1 on the crown wheel side of the diff i swaped them all out for abec blue seal bearing . and machined hex ss screws in the cups great video thanks

The front bumper takes most of the major crashes. I've never saw a screw that can survive that. Maybe some can, but remember that a nail cost less than 1 cent each and can bend easy to absorb the shock. Nails are faster to install and remove too. Even with the regular extreme bashing I do, I rarely change nails... Screws are good too, but I think that nails are even better... 1/4 cent to have a barely indestructible bumper it the best option to my humble opinion. TY for watching and comment

This video is very informative. Plus, a lot of those tricks you used on your Flux can be used on the Savage X, XL & SS since they are all virtually the same truck. Just small differences between them. I'm gonna have to use some of those tricks on my boys.

Very good video and some great tips! All seems pretty simple, just take some time. The Savage if tough out of the box, but these are great things to do before taking the Savage to it's first big bash. Totally making sure my friend, who has a new Savage, watches this video.

A Flux on 6s with the most common bateries (5000mAh) can run about 35 min non stop. The runtime drop slowly more you use batteries. My frst batteries was Flightmax 5000mAh (Cheapest batteries on the market) Still had 25 min runtime after 2 years and 100+ charges. Note that with bad maintenance, runtime can drop way more faster.

Cool. Im interested extremely in this truck, it's good to know that for extreme bashing (which I don't do) it handles pretty well. So under normal bashing it should be perfect even under 3s

  • @SavageJunky

The 2 most important thing is to stay with the stock gearing 20 Pinion 44 Spur (Lower ratio like 25/44 cause LOT of heat) and set the timing to low (To avoid any heat problem) You will lose some power, but you won be able to use full power anyway... Even with my experience i cant even cntrol a flux on 6s with full trigger (It`s almost impossible) Rest really depend on your personal preference. Note that 40% is the maximim brake setting you can use to apply full brake without front flip.

I show how to solve it on my guide 5/7 : Arms/Wheels/Bulkhead. HPI Wheel nut use a white plastic gasket to lock the nut (You can easily see it if you look at the center hole of the wheel nut). That gasket is made for 2-3 uses max. If you screw/unscrew the wheel nut 2-3 times, it won't lock anymore. You need to use thread locker and screw the nut hard to solve that problem.

@salmans21 Yes. I forgot to say it. You need to buy spare one. 1) Those pin are very cheap (12 on eBay for 5$).You will have to by some anyway because the pin inside the differential may break (they both use the pin z260) 2) You can use another metal pin and drill the hole smaller or bigger if you want. I suggest you the pin z260 because they are cheap, but other pin can be use. Just remember that the pin needs to be 9mm, strong and same size as the hole. Thanks for watching

@SavageJunky try scuffing up the inside of the body with a scotch brite pad and wash clean and dry and then take to your local Line-X bedliner dealer and have them spray the inside of the body with the bedliner stuff. Just make sure to take painter's tape and tape off the whole outside on the body because that shit gets every where.

I don't recommend grinding the shaft... I recommend scratching it (7:23). A file is way too rough for that, one or two pass with a 200-300 sand paper is enough. Like I said at the beginning, this video has some outdated information (I said sand instead of scratch). If you go at 5:50 of my (3/6 : Motor/ESC video), I show how to do it correctly. Ty for the comment.

Hi, Buy a Flux. Upgrading a 4.6 to a flux will cost you minimum 350$ just for motor, esc, battery box, motor mount, frame etc... You also need 2 BF diff assembly for 50$ea, stronger servo etc... will cost you 450$+. If your 4.6 is in good shape, you can sell it and have a brand new Flux for the cost of the 4.6 to flux cost... Unless you have a good deal on parts, go for a Flux. (Used flux can be very good option too ) Hope it help.

@kylea1985 A pinion gear should never break or be damage. Personally, i still use the original stock pinion on both of my truck. They are still in perfect shape after 100+Hrs of extreme bashing. The majority of pinion gear breaks due to improper installation or because it mooves after a hard landing. I will show how to install it correctly in my Motor/ESC video.

@AKbash5710 The stock brace are too weak even with stock lower arms. I've break 3 bulkhead with the stock brace. Stronger brace or a full conversion kit is a must to my humble opinion. 10$ to protect your 2 bulkhead should be one of your first upgrade as I said in my new Flux guide. Personally, I use full kit from Alza-Racing. There are few kits or stronger brace on the market, but those from Alza-Racing are extremely strong for a low cost. Probably the best option on the market.

Why continous jumping is a problem :) ? As long as you land on wheels, you will never break anything with my bashing setting. Now, i go bash 70ft jump non stop until i reach cut off on both of my trucks lol. How fast can this truck go ? There is no real answer to that... The correct answer is: as long as you can control it... I doubt that anyone can get to full trigger for 5 sec on a Flux with 6s and high speed gearing. It could probably get to 75mph with max upgrades...maybe even more...
