Dude in all honesty your ROCK! for making such a comprehensive guide to this truck. Though i do not bash it that hard it still helps a lot to understand the REAL weak points of this truck. Thank you!
Some people are just stupid and love to hate people. He did that to many other people and he was kicked from MINIMUM 4 forums because he keep insult everyone. He use to call himself Mr. Magnificent ... He clearly suffer from severe narcissism. He already pretend to have the best video on KZread and went ultra aggressive when people disagree lol. Glad to know that my video helped you. Ty for watching and comment.
Your fist vid got me started with my Flux. Thanks dude!
after purchasing a savage flux and 15 lipo packs later . and a full tear down i found little wear on any parts diffs/ gears look perfect . i flushed the diff cups out and half filled with 30,000 kyosho diff oil , the bearings needed replacing though some slop in 1 on the crown wheel side of the diff i swaped them all out for abec blue seal bearing . and machined hex ss screws in the cups great video thanks
The front bumper takes most of the major crashes. I've never saw a screw that can survive that. Maybe some can, but remember that a nail cost less than 1 cent each and can bend easy to absorb the shock. Nails are faster to install and remove too. Even with the regular extreme bashing I do, I rarely change nails... Screws are good too, but I think that nails are even better... 1/4 cent to have a barely indestructible bumper it the best option to my humble opinion. TY for watching and comment
even i learnt a few things there buddy and i been using savages for ages... i allready do alot of the stuff you say... Thumbs up all very good info!
Mate!!! Amazing vid, i've watched so many times now and i haven't even got a Savage! Excellent joice of backing music, truly enjoyed your vid, best i've seen, and Floyd just makes the watching and smoking all make sense. Nice one.
hey just want to say thank you for posting these videos, ive tried a few of these mods and they have worked great. instead of velcro i used zip ties for the bumper brackets to keep the pins in. i tied it behind the cover so it wouldnt slip
this really helped me know what to change when i get my savage flux great video
Using velcro to hold bumper arms together is best! It holds amazing well!
@CardNox Castle field link seem to be good too. Many told me it works great. Personally, I never suggest something I’ve never test by myself. This is why I don't talk about it in the video. I am working on strengthening body but it is hard to find a cheep/light/efficient material... Thanks for watching
This video is very informative. Plus, a lot of those tricks you used on your Flux can be used on the Savage X, XL & SS since they are all virtually the same truck. Just small differences between them. I'm gonna have to use some of those tricks on my boys.
Hi, I've never try the Flux XS, so I can't recommend it :). With that in mind, all of HPI savage that I’ve try are awesome and the XS seem to be as good (if not better) then he's big brothers... Finally a waterproof savage! Thanks for watching!
Very good video and some great tips! All seems pretty simple, just take some time. The Savage if tough out of the box, but these are great things to do before taking the Savage to it's first big bash. Totally making sure my friend, who has a new Savage, watches this video.
A Flux on 6s with the most common bateries (5000mAh) can run about 35 min non stop. The runtime drop slowly more you use batteries. My frst batteries was Flightmax 5000mAh (Cheapest batteries on the market) Still had 25 min runtime after 2 years and 100+ charges. Note that with bad maintenance, runtime can drop way more faster.
Cool. Im interested extremely in this truck, it's good to know that for extreme bashing (which I don't do) it handles pretty well. So under normal bashing it should be perfect even under 3s
The 2 most important thing is to stay with the stock gearing 20 Pinion 44 Spur (Lower ratio like 25/44 cause LOT of heat) and set the timing to low (To avoid any heat problem) You will lose some power, but you won be able to use full power anyway... Even with my experience i cant even cntrol a flux on 6s with full trigger (It`s almost impossible) Rest really depend on your personal preference. Note that 40% is the maximim brake setting you can use to apply full brake without front flip.
Thanks man great idea works sweet for me
I show how to solve it on my guide 5/7 : Arms/Wheels/Bulkhead. HPI Wheel nut use a white plastic gasket to lock the nut (You can easily see it if you look at the center hole of the wheel nut). That gasket is made for 2-3 uses max. If you screw/unscrew the wheel nut 2-3 times, it won't lock anymore. You need to use thread locker and screw the nut hard to solve that problem.
Thank you for the valuable info :)
First off: Awesome video. All useful tips I knew were in here and I learned a few new ones. Going to apply that bumper-nail tip. 1 small remark: 12:44 You mean diff oil in stead off shock oil 1 small question: 14:01 Why not choose the field card? Thanks again for the vid. Will come in handy on alot of newbies to the Flux!
nice video:D i have loved ur videos evers since i saw you win the hpi home video chalenge:D
Thanks for answering!
Great video thanks for the advice,
great work Bro ,
Very good video for extreme flux bashers I'll be doing alot of the mods to mine soon.BASH ON & aloha from Hawaii
thanks for the reply, ive completed most your upgrades so far so good, and thanks for the great vids... yes we need a solution for that, i love running my savage off the 6 foot ramp while my buddies just drive around it cause there scared to damage there rides!!! Savage Rules! lol
thanks bro u just saved me alot.
in the bumper i put 4mm screws and it hold nicely
+1, for sure good job
nice vid man, i did the exact same thing with my diff. :)
@mountainar15 Even on the normal position, the screw will bend. Personally, on 15+ extreme bashing sessions, I’ve never break a shock tower screw but I will take a close look on it. Thanks for the info and for watching.
+10 Great video
thanks for the help
@salmans21 Yes. I forgot to say it. You need to buy spare one. 1) Those pin are very cheap (12 on eBay for 5$).You will have to by some anyway because the pin inside the differential may break (they both use the pin z260) 2) You can use another metal pin and drill the hole smaller or bigger if you want. I suggest you the pin z260 because they are cheap, but other pin can be use. Just remember that the pin needs to be 9mm, strong and same size as the hole. Thanks for watching
thanks for that vid.
@SavageJunky try scuffing up the inside of the body with a scotch brite pad and wash clean and dry and then take to your local Line-X bedliner dealer and have them spray the inside of the body with the bedliner stuff. Just make sure to take painter's tape and tape off the whole outside on the body because that shit gets every where.
@SavageJunky cool man, i figured it was something like that because ive never seen a pinion gear do that. spur gears are a different story lol
I don't recommend grinding the shaft... I recommend scratching it (7:23). A file is way too rough for that, one or two pass with a 200-300 sand paper is enough. Like I said at the beginning, this video has some outdated information (I said sand instead of scratch). If you go at 5:50 of my (3/6 : Motor/ESC video), I show how to do it correctly. Ty for the comment.
Nice trick in the beginning, you shoul make a video on how to do some tricks like that
@SavageJunky WooHoo! Does this mean we'll see more of your quality informations? Since you aren't so limited to 15minute cap and such ? :D Keep up the good work! Thanks. Now you can upload even a small tips that might just pop in your head !
Forgot to tell you to use the custom cut-off setting to 3.2-3.3 v/cell (Personally use 3.3/cell) Dont forget that this video has lot of outdated information, look at my guide for more complete info. Hope it helps, Ty for watching
Hi, Buy a Flux. Upgrading a 4.6 to a flux will cost you minimum 350$ just for motor, esc, battery box, motor mount, frame etc... You also need 2 BF diff assembly for 50$ea, stronger servo etc... will cost you 450$+. If your 4.6 is in good shape, you can sell it and have a brand new Flux for the cost of the 4.6 to flux cost... Unless you have a good deal on parts, go for a Flux. (Used flux can be very good option too ) Hope it help.
@kylea1985 A pinion gear should never break or be damage. Personally, i still use the original stock pinion on both of my truck. They are still in perfect shape after 100+Hrs of extreme bashing. The majority of pinion gear breaks due to improper installation or because it mooves after a hard landing. I will show how to install it correctly in my Motor/ESC video.
@SavageJunky ok i used the CC Castle Link on my Flux and it's windows program detects it as a HPI Blur. All works great. (obviously)
I'm gonna grab the ( pinion) HD drive gear as you suggest .. any suggestions for a replacements for the stock spur ? thanks in advance
@elbutchos You can't. The only thing important is that the differential must be fix in the bulkhead. That gap is normal .
Fantastic video! I have just gotten into Electric RC and have a Hpi Mini Recon to get me started. I was thinking about getting a Hpi Mini Savage XS Flux as my next car, is this a car that you would recommend? Thanks
@xxgg Ehhhhhhh... Lol, I feel so stupid...I've never thought about that... I always need to remove some important information to fit in the time limit, but that idea solves all of my problems... Thanks so much for the idea lol. I will be able to create way more accurate walkthrough.
@danasdaddy2002 Thanks. I am working on splitting that video in 6 smaller video. Without the 15 min limit, I will be able to put way more details and new suggestions. Thanks again for watching.
Mon ultime but est de trouver le meilleur ratio prix/soliditer . chaque recommandation as ete tester et analyser en detaile et est selon moi, un must. voire une bete te cette grosseur/poids voler est tellement impressionnant :) .
@arisndsk Good to know, tx for the info.
I wouldn't turn the rear shock mount bolts around. You put the load on the threads, which is the weakest point of the bolt. I did that and broke one and bent the other.
I was just watching again... I thought... whenever you have a new version of video... instead of removing old and uploading new... why not just upload each segments seperately? Easier to update later on. Thanks for great info video>!
hi savage junky, I have a savage 4.6nitro and I,m considering converting it to electric. is this a good idea or should I buy a flux and add upgrades for ultimate bashing. was also wondering what mph you get from your flux with all your upgrades. thanks for the most ultimate videos that i have ever seen.
hello great vid, i just bought my savage flux 2 days ago have only 5 min run time on it, the gears sound like they are grinding, specially when i brake, is it normal or should i adjust?? thanks
Hello, we are a bashingcrew from Germany. Big thanks for the informations how to prepare a savage well for bashing. It´s absoluly great. You can look to our results on the viedeo: extrem bashing 4.1 (E-Revo & Savage Flux) I hope you like it...
In another video you install Terra pins on your flux. Have you noticed diffs braking faster or easier with those installed? Thanks.
@Shabbernigdo Note that I recommend only 1 integy upgrade :)
Hello, I am having problems with stripped wheels. I want to follow your suggestion by shortening the pin to 9mm and drilling the hex. I am just wondering if I need to buy another set of pins to install inside of the hex (like it originally was)
@5372john Nop, it can't. The only way to use 5 or 6s is to change the motor and ESC.
Been searching everywhere so I must ask, who performs this version of Pink Floyd? It's great music to chill to and goes we'll with your vid.
@CardNox, ohh, one more tip just came to mind: solution for strengthening body and loosing bodyclips ;-).
can the flux 2350 take 5s one of my battierys are puffed and thinking of changing it for 3s
just a quick question for all those with savage flux trucks. has anyone else had a problem with the pinion gear stripping? i bought the truck very lightly used. the gear had very minor wear marks when i checked it over. im a little surprised at this gear wearing out since i only run mine on 4s lipo and i dont run it often. i lubricated the gears shortly after i got the truck. as far as i could tell the gear mesh looked just fine as well. thanks for any help!
@xxgg No idea, i've never use the Castle Link from CC...
im a newbie for rc trucks and i want to know what would be the best rc electric offroad for bashing that is very durable??i got a budget of $600-$800??is this savage flux hp one of the best for durability in stock??
I live in Scotland and the rc extra availability is lesser than the US so I might consider a new flux.can I ask that the review videos I have watched for the flux seem to show a truck that continuously jumps , is this not a problem? and how fast (mph) will this truck go?
+1 awesome
i beg to differ my fellow friend i broke loads of the stock ones now i use M3 x 16 High Tensile Bolts and i am yet to break one high tensile bolts and screws are very strong i also use a M3 High Tensile 45mm for my shock bolts again very strong aint bent one yet
How many minutes you can run it when it is fully charged?
I am currently working on a solution. I have the same problem. Solution should be on my next video (Update 1). Video should be onlne in 2-3 week. TY for comment.
im having a problem with the flux turning off, it seems the batterie keeps getting disconnected when bashing, now it wont take any bumpy terain at all, it doesnt fully disconnect, maybe loosens about 2mm
Any difference between Castle Link from CC and HPI? One from CC is lot cheaper in local hobby shop. like $10 difference.
Hey! Great video, really useful. Broke my first bumper screws, needed a new "bar" behind the bumper(couldn't get the broken screw out). What size nail did you use for the fix? Can't seem to find the right fit. I used a 2,5mm drill bit(yeah, metric, but pretty close to 3/32").
@SavageJunky
9 жыл бұрын
Jon Fossum My nails are 2.1mm on a 2.5mm hole.
@AKbash5710 The stock brace are too weak even with stock lower arms. I've break 3 bulkhead with the stock brace. Stronger brace or a full conversion kit is a must to my humble opinion. 10$ to protect your 2 bulkhead should be one of your first upgrade as I said in my new Flux guide. Personally, I use full kit from Alza-Racing. There are few kits or stronger brace on the market, but those from Alza-Racing are extremely strong for a low cost. Probably the best option on the market.
Shank u very much
one problem, I bash the shit outta my truck, but i love to race in competitions ( today and tommorrow at eliminator rc). the RPM arms arent a good idea for one reason. no sway bar hole!
Update: I just found a video on youtube with a 74mph Flux lol Type: HPI Savage Flux XL 74.3MPH speed run update (4) on youtube
Why continous jumping is a problem :) ? As long as you land on wheels, you will never break anything with my bashing setting. Now, i go bash 70ft jump non stop until i reach cut off on both of my trucks lol. How fast can this truck go ? There is no real answer to that... The correct answer is: as long as you can control it... I doubt that anyone can get to full trigger for 5 sec on a Flux with 6s and high speed gearing. It could probably get to 75mph with max upgrades...maybe even more...
9mn is 3/4''?
@gayrunnycumstain oops 9mm = 3/8
Wow, votre vidéo est super instructif, je viens de sauver plusieurs heures de travail et beaucoup de dollars. Merci beaucoup. Vous êtes un king. :)

Hi ... very helpfull video for all the savage'ers out there. Can you please take a look at my videos ? There is a vid with some diff play I have. How can i get rid of that play? Managed to tighten up everything but that and it's killing me. Thanks in advance.
