My 8 yr old son received his first 2 eggs to incubate today and both myself and the breeder were extremely Impressed at all the knowledge he already had about how to care for the eggs! He would point out the slugs and how he should mark the eggs on top to know what position they should be kept in 😂 the breeder was shocked and said he almost knows as much as him haha my son also suggested to cut the eggs so they have a better chance of surviving (the last time his snake laid eggs, only 2 out of 11 survived because they couldnt cut through the shell) he asked how he knew all this and he replied "Emily taught me, from Snake Discovery" so I am here to thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone. You have changed my opinion on snakes and I am excited to see how my son goes.

She answered this question in a different video recently. There mothers don't stay with their eggs in the wild, so it doesn't benefit the eggs to be kept in the enclosure, it just takes up space.

Thank you for teaching me how to incubate eggs I love your videos and you've inspired me to practice a incubate snake eggs I have blown a balloon and that is my fake egg. I used hair ties to be pearlite. And I'm practicing to make eggs with my king snake snowflake who is also albino and I'm planning to pair snowflake with licorice my future black king snake!

so, what's different about those two things that makes them better for incubating eggs than moss or regular bedding?

Have you experimented with lay box setups? I read an interesting blog years ago about a keeper that had a female Cal king that was eggbound. He managed to aspirate the eggs fortunately. It happened again the following year, and he aspirated again. The laybox was a small shoebox with about 1/2 inch of substrate. So this fellow changed the laybox - he used a plastic tub like yours and filled it 8-10 inches deep of loose substrate with a piece of plywood on top of the dirt (not a lid on the box) with an access hole in the plywood. The idea came from a field researcher who had found snake eggs in the wild and recorded how they were situated. The next year, that snake laid with no problems, and was never egg-bound again. She laid the eggs in the substrate buried inches under the plywood. Have you ever tried anything like this?

You should be sort of careful don't squeeze them but if they were just recently laid it won't matter how you turn them just try to keep them the same way that they were laid they're not 100% indestructible so be careful
