// My Story
I am currently a software developer who once modeled and thought I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. While I was modeling in Hong Kong, I eventually felt the desire to further my education. I decided to depart the modeling world and move back to Canada, knowing that could be the end of my modeling opportunities. I attended Ryerson University for GCM (Graphic Communications Management), as I thought I might still work in the fashion industry in another capacity. It was in my last year of university, I was introduced to a very basic coding course. I instantly fell in love. From there I knew I wanted to pursue software development but didn't have a clue where to start. I didn't want to go back to university as I just completed a four-year degree. I decided to enroll in a 10-week intensive coding Bootcamp. From there I started working at a small startup learning and growing my technical and soft skills. I then transitioned to a larger company where I am a software developer and technical consultant today.

    GPU programming with either HIP (AMD) or CUDA (NVIDIA) will be in a large demand the following years to develop custom solutions. My interest is primarily focused on deep learning with C++ & Cuda 😜

    First video of yours I've seen. Good on you for getting out of modelling. That's a brutal world, said from experience. Hindsight is 20/20, and makes no money. Those who made riches didn't rely on 20/20, but did the right tech thing at the right time.

    I'd say I have a huge backlog of things I want to study and explore but what I really like and I've been into for a while is how to make games. I've been a software engineer for more than 20 years now, and I only find motivation in games at the moment. I'm not planning to start working for a game company but more for indie games. I think I'm not that talented to come up with a great idea for a game, so sometimes I feel a little guilty, as this is not going to give me any money but is what I do when I have free time. As I said, even though I have a huge backlog to go through and consider another role in the future, I can't find the motivation right now

    @@RikiB004 yes no problem. Through out my developer career every six months I would search the it job postings, so for example in the 90s I know vb6 so searched for that, you get the results and some of them also required classic asp so you learn that plus html after understanding. Hence you end up not only increasing your knowledge it increase you chance for job opportunities with more money so you progress not only money but always able to ride the storms. Housing finance pandemic cost of living crises. Today I search c# react and you will probably get back expo 49 and semantic kernel for ai, so learning that so will make sure I will still be employed for the next ten years till retirement. Hope that helps

    The tech market is sinking and it's just not sustainable to keep changing your skills up every 76 seconds. That's not a life and there is barely any other line of work where that is expected. Even Bjarne Stroustrup said don't do that. He was asked for advice and he said, basically, you shouldn't waste your life on your computer specialism and you need to remember your friends, families, hobbies etc.
