    A tip I learned is playing music. I carry a Bluetooth speaker with me and ask the model what gets them grooving and play that music for them. 🥂

    The eye tracking technique is genius! Posing as a model is also a really good idea

    Using the "conversation" (covered in step 1) throughout the shoot really helps to keep the model engaged with you, the photographer, instead of the sterile lens. Humans interact much better with other humans than they do with inanimate objects. ....well, most humans do ;-) I absolutely love step #5 of this video, as most of the photographers that I've worked with are terrified to be on the other side of the lens. PROPS!

    I never thought about posing for someone else. Interesting tip and one that is a little intimidating for a person who prefers to be behind a camera. Still worth considering.

    Poising for others is a great tip. What you think you look like in your minds eye is never what you really look like on camera.

    Some photographers that I know, hate to have their photo taken. I think it is important to model for other photographers. It is hard to ask someone to do something you wouldn't do yourself!

    Dave -- you did not speak about light -- natural or artificial. Paying attention to light is my number 1 ... because I already know my subjects
