So it looks like the Xfinity website is now gone and you have to do this same process from their mobile app. You can get it in the app store under and this app lets you control your router settings. The interface is pretty much exactly the same as the website was.

try to find the security tab, the port forwarding, if not in an exclusive tab, is usually inside a firewall tab or something like that

@@mullent169 understandable. Years ago i tried this too and never understood why. Now i do. My dad blocked out all other devices from login in. However, i did find 2 things! One is remote.it. host and players have to connect through this and then they can play together. I couldnt test it cuz either my friend and sister is suspicious of it. That one is for compleetly hosting your server. The second one is minehut. I can make 2 free servers with limits as 10 player, and max 12 plugins. But all i needed was just a way to play survival with my older sister and minehut just provides me with that.

PSA: xfinity users CANNOT create minecraft servers, period! When you disable advanced security, it isn't actually disabling anything, just the front end control (settings). The staff get a notification that you have requested to disable it, however it is at their discretion to confirm the request (most of the time they do NOT confirm the request) even though it shows on your end that it is disabled. That's why you get a notification that "in 10 minutes it will be disabled"... ie, no one is likely going to answer the request. That's why when you try to access your server, it does polling, then it shows server cannot be reached. Solution: VPN, always a VPN folks. I know it's redundant, you pay for intent access, but then a VPN is basically "internet access on top of internet access". It's BS.

I was able to follow the guide until I checked the port and it wasn't going through. Maybe I had to wait the full 10 minutes for the firewall to go down, but since I'd prefer to keep that up I'll look for another way to play Minecraft long distance. Great video though!

I had this exact situation happen to me. Got port forwarding set up. Played for a day. Everything was dandy. Came back a week later with exact same settings and suddenly nothing worked. Disabling that extra "security" feature did the trick. So weird that they would include tools for port forwarding and then by default include a setting that makes all your port forwards not work.

I tried this 2 months ago and it wasn't working because the xfinity site took too long to port forward. I tried it today (and it seems like they updated their website) and it works very easily now. The buttons actually respond when I click. I only wish this happened earlier so I could play during the summer break lol

When i type in the numbers from the server that you said to type in, its telling me to sign in because my connection to the account isnt private. When i try to sign in nothing happens.

This was a good tutorial. But it appears that Comcast recently changed their port forwarding so you cannot forward ports to a device with a static IP address. Evidently the port forwarding is now defined to forward to a named device regardless of what IP address it gets.

@@garretts5416 No. I gave up and purchased my own cable modem: a Motorola Model MT7711. It's a beautiful modem and port forwarding works beautifully. Now I don't have to pay Comcast modem rental fees either.

Hey man I have xfinity as well and I have never had problems port forwarding in the past (I did to hasve an open nat type in COD ps4) but with this the port stays closed. I went on windows firewall inbound rules set the tcp and udp to 25565, enabled dmz for my pc, disabled the xfi advanced security. I've virtually tried everything. Any suggestions on how it is closed?

You get whatever gateway you set up with whoever you paid for your router/internet plan. You might not have xfinity, but something else entirely. If the router is not your own, you will need credentials to log yourself in online. Your router gateway might tell you the address to find the online site to change your port forwarding settings. If your internet plan is some family plan, you will have to ask your parents if you could open up a hole in their firewall... Good luck lol

@@mryellow6580 that is what port forwarding does. Make sure your parents (or whoever is paying for the router) is in agreement with this decision. You need to try to access the default gateway first, then pursue the port forwarding from that gateway. If you set up a forward and use the site to check if it's open and the test fails, the provider for the router is the only one who can help you port forward. The owner of the router will know who that is.

May be a bit late but, go to start, type in control panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Click the connection you have near the top > Click Details > Then find "IPv4 Default Gateway". Thats your default gateway even though it says IPv4.

xfinitys new port forward protocol is definitely more of a process, BUT, I was just able to port forward even though I'm not connected to my own wifi because of it, so I guess there is some benefits.

I followed everything in the video, but the port checker does not match the ip i used in the xfinity website, so it says the port 25565 is closed. idk what the problem is

I'm confused do you need an xfinity router or have xfinity as your wifi provider

Just asking, can these servers u make in other tutorials that u have made. Can I connect with someone from another state. And sorry but one more question, can I use snapshots as the server like the nether update

ive got an asus router, not the xfinity router, so when i logged into my xfi account i didnt have those options you walked us through. i had to fill out a port range, local port, local ip, and source ip to add a port forward? i jave the local ip, but i dont know what else to fill out

@@Beans-pw8vr let's go over this one more time you go to comand promt type in ipconfig scroll down until you find default gateway if that doesn't work go to control panel ,network and internet ,network and sharing center ,the blue button next to connection which could be Ethernet or wifi click on that it'll take you to a page click on (details...) And the ipv4 default gateway should be it and above theres gonna be ipv4 address which is the longer one hope this helps :)

I don't think so, you still have a motem and router that works the same as a regular one. Just because you use ethernet doesn;t mean it's not possible to straight up connect to it. So yes, it should work.

You have to Port Forward if your friend isn't using the same Wi-Fi connection as you. Your friend can't join the server if they aren't on the same Wi-Fi unless you port forward. Hope this helps.

That's because your network provider isn't Xfinity. I'm on Netgear so I had to improvise a little, but theyre all very similar, just use a little common sense and you should be able to do it just fine!

I'm still struggling to get this to work. The port 25565 is open (Service: Other, Protocol: TCP - UDP, External Host: *, Internal Host: (deviceIP), External Port: 25565, Internal Port: 25565). I checked and the port is open. However, when the ip is written in, the connection times out and never is there a successful ping to the server. How would I go about fixing this?

At 0:56 it doesn't show that information at my ''Ethernet adapter Ethernet''. It only shows: ''Media State'' ''Connection-specific DNS Suffix'' What should i do now?

If the port says closed on the Port Forwarding Tester please allow the firewall for JAVA as well as making sure you run the server when you test the port.

Try to port forward after you set up your server. Look up Voizdev's vid on setting up the latest MC Java server. Very helpful. Then, once you port forward, check to see if the port is open. Nobody is getting in without that port being opened. If it is still open, you will need to ask your internet provider to open that port via their website. Check your gateway site to find the address for the provider's site. You need to port forward there. Then check again with the "is my port open?" site. If not, then you need to disable some hidden "advanced" security setting, other firewalls, etc.

Note to everyone complaining that playing with friends is so hard: Everything on the internet is like this. If you host a website off of your machine, you’ll have to do this. Server providers you pay to run your server have to do this.

You see, I do all of that, but under the port forward, Xfinity shows the IPV4 as 10.0.0.205. Ipconfig shows 10.0.0.206. This isn't because I selected the wrong device, I know it's my computer because when I go to the devices and click on it, it shows the RIGHT IPV4! 10.0.0.206. Is there a way to fix this error?

What exactly am I supposed to login with at the start? Like what password and login name do I need to type. And also when I paste the default gateway I dont get to xinfinity I get to tplink so how can I know how to do it?

Check the bottom of your router, that’s where I found my login details. If it’s not there, check your providers website and see if you can find the default login details. Good luck

what possible things could block my port? cause i did everything in the video😫

I'm late but I was wonder if I could just set up a port forward and whitelist my few friends IPs. Would that work indefinitely? I do not want to disable my advanced security.

my friends still can't join, it says timed out and the port checker lists the port as closed PLEASE HELP

I added a port to 25565, disabled Advanced Security, and it still says that the port is closed on the port checker. If anyone can tell me what’s wrong, or what I have done wrong, that would be amazing, Thank You!

I had this problem too, after thinking for a bit I tried disabling my Windows Firewall which worked like a charm, because that made me uncomfortable I decided to go into the firewall settings and allow Java (private network) to get through my firewall and the problem was fixed, hope this helps!

i haven't watched the full vid yet, but i've run into a couple of problems. First is that when i put my default gateway shit into google and it took me to a Telstra website (i live in aus) and second is idk if we have comcast here, we could do. but i'm 90% sure we don't.

when i do it with wondows firewall, what kind of rule do i have to set?
