I agree with you on not wearing finger cots while polishing. You want to feel the metal for ultimate control over the final finish. Edges need to be crisp, grain needs to perfect, ect... It truly is art.

How do you protect the edge if it's on both sides of the polish? Thanks for making these videos, appreciated.

Thanks, Kalle. I hope you enjoy your trip to Greece. Your video reminded me that I had a chance to buy a nice polisher, complete with ventilation setup, for a very good price a couple of years ago. I hesitated because I really didn't know if I had the space for it, and someone else got it. While I still don't know exactly where I'd put it, I still say, "rats!" when I think about it. Cheers.

great vid thank you. i am just a watch hobbyist, electronics engineer in the aerospace industry by trade. when you mentioned kapton tape i was amazed. kapton tape is actually made as a high temp, electrically resistive tape for electronic and electrical components. but i can see how the high temp insulating qualities of this tape would be good for this purpose. how did you find that out? very curious. completely addicted to your vids. thank you Todd in Montreal

Great Great Great, I watched the whole series with a lot of enjoinment hope u do more like servicing a eta7750 movement. and tell us what the name of every part and the right steps I know it's very hard and difficult and time consuming BUT will teach horology lover a lot also nothing mentioned about pocket watches gold rolled and rolled filled, by the way I have a watch I think is something unusual the watch has no hands but the dial of the watch it moves its made by zenith with leather water resistance strap!!!

With no tutor I started by putting Sharpe pen on the sharp edges, then try polishing but leaving the pen marks on the edge. The problem came when I tried polishing at 90deg. On the good side Seiko 7009's are cheap from a certain Netherlands supplier.The lesson we are all waiting for is how to make money at this. (I am joking of coarse, it's not possible)

Could you please list some established brands of paste/bars that are used by professionals such as yourself? Thank you, I am lost at all the options on Amazon.

Can I use a Dremel (handheld rotary tool) or is there not enough surface area for the smaller wheels to be of any use? Thank you. I can mount the tool to keep it stationary by the way.

You can only use one abrasive compound on a wheel. There is no way to "clean the wheel to change to a dfifferent compound.

Just bought a 5€ watch on the Royal flee-market, a Pulsar, need to polish the glass, and get a band for it, the one that came with it is way too short, and made out of "blik". Pulsar 2001. Nr. V103-6059 A2. 550061 So it's probably 5 years old. It is still running. Have no idea what they cost new. So I hope there will also be a video about how to get the scratches out of the "glass" of my "new" watch :)

Great video. Kapton tape is used in electronic soldering because supports 300ºC enough for polishing. I use Dialux too, and for inox I start with grey and finish with blue with cotton wheel.

Never trained on polishing just practiced on my watches and I brutalized them and to cheep to pay for training-Thanks for the information you may have saved a nice watch case FROM ABUSE 😷👍😵‍💫
