How to polish your resin to a high gloss shine.
This is my secret for getting a high gloss shine after you sand your resin peice. It's a really easy process which doesn't take too much time to do and is definitely worth it if your resin peices don't come out with a high gloss shine. Please let me know what you think in the comments.
The polish I use it called hut ultra gloss. Here is the link. www.woodcraft.com/products/hu...
Most sand paper you can get from a big box hardware store. Here is the link for the higher grit sandpaper.

Hey there, I use the Dremel to work on the overpour part of my piece and now I really need to sand at a finer grit with my Dremel. Can you explain what the next grits I need to use on my Dremel? I plan on using the ultra gloss you suggested

Yes, you have to go through all the grits of sanding to get the smoothest possible surface to get a high polish.

Thank you! My epoxy resin is supposed to be glossy to begin with, the side facing the mould comes out matte while the side facing and drying in the air comes out perfectly glossy... Does one has to use a specific mould in order for it to come out glossy?
@ShivaTD420

Yeah, some molds will give a gloss finish. Depends on the type of mold material and the part that was used to make the negative. Some releasing agents used on the part can also effect the molds texture. You may also find that molds may go more matte over time as they get heavy use or if you cast more abrasive or corrosive compounds like concrete or polyester resin.
Thanks for this. Can you do this with UV resin as well?
@MLOpals

Yes you can, but in this video like he said he is pressing hard to shine, that is because with epoxy you should go up to a even higher gritt not only 3000, after 3k ya should go gritt 5000 6000 8000 10000, and then use the polish, then you will have even a more shine result as this one

No, it won't be as glossy. You need to get the piece as smooth as you can first then polish.

If you dont go up to a super high grit you won't get a glass like shine. You have to sand up to at least 2000 grit. Depending on your project you may be able to do a flood coat.

@@colescreations6680 So basically it means that its either we dont touch the resin piece at all (basically its okay and has no problems after making it) or if we do we have to start all the way from coarse sandpaper to fine in order to get it back to a nice gloss?

@@nigelgoh1362 if you don't want to do this because it can be super annoying I recommend getting a mold that has a glossy surface. That will insure the piece comes out glossy or if it's a flat piece you can always dome the resin on top.

Try using grits with no more than a 60 grit jump. Clean throughly between grits, anything above 240 grit and you are polishing the surface. 3M has really good sanding products and polishing products too.
