I love his comment about priming the pad. Yeah I’ve seen guys do that. Also put on a ton of polish. They don’t blow it out on the hood and they turn the rotary on and they sling it all over the place. I remember back in the day using the rotary, we literally had to put bedsheets over the windshieldsand then water them down so they’d stay. Yeah I guess I would say I was one of the guys slinging it.
This was such a great collaboration Phil . It’s so awesome to see so many like minded individuals together. Thanks for the awesome content.

Back in the 70s and 80s in Orlando. We used to run down to the local junkyard and buy a hood. Take it home set it up like you guys have it and just literally practiced ruining it wheel hopping it all over the place burning the paint just tearing it up.then trying to fix it.. Those are fun times.
I have been checking out the whole Rupes line and just about have it nailed down to what I want.

There are so many people on social media telling people how to polish. Yvan’s ideas always struck a chord with me and maybe it’s because us racers think differently. The rotary is so much smoother and my forearms can tell a difference after polishing compared to a dual action polisher. Thank you for sharing this instructive video!

Truthfully i use rotary here in Bali and im comfortable. like Uncle say, first time i do polish with rotary thd top speed is just 4-5. ussually do in speed 2-3 the result is shine brilliant. its depent on what polish product you gonna hve much so called swirl or not, i think

Hi. Not sure exactly what would make one stronger than the other. But Hybrid Solutions Rapid Decon is pretty awesome stuff kzread.info/dash/bejne/epOKrtevdKfbhs4.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/dWRm1MFsZ7yxaZs.html
I’m so surprise Phil! Because I have watch your videos for long time I remember when you polish you said a drop of water will ruin the polishing process, but DIY people said to prime with water so does it mean it would ruin polish process Phil?
@MirandaDetailing
Жыл бұрын
Hi. I meant a few drop of water dripping onto the paint while polishing can be annoying. But a slightly damp pad while polishing is very different.
If i understood correctly we should prime a new pad with small amount of water before start polishing? Nice video
@MirandaDetailing
Жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s just one way or option. Remember, there is no rule here, just options and different ways of doing things. Try it and see how it works for you.
I learned to polish/cut with a giant floor polisher. You try to muscle those around you get thrown around as I did the first attempt. LOL

One question : so you need to soft the pad always with the bucket after each polish ?

Hi. Using the bucket washer to dampen the pad softens it at first, then you clean it after each polishing section.

If my rotary goes all over the place even at the beginning of the polish process, is it because I'm using the wrong pad/polish product or what can be the cause of that?
@MirandaDetailing
Жыл бұрын
Hi. It could be that…sometimes it takes some time to get used the feel of it. Try those exercises I should in the video.
@diydetailofficial
Жыл бұрын
A few things can lead to that. Flat pads, holding it too strong, high speed.
@petreticu6008
Жыл бұрын
@@diydetailofficial then it must be the fact that it's a flat pad, i didn't hold it strong and worked at speed 1. Maybe even the fact that I don't damp my pad before using it
