    What an awesome instructional video. Not only will this help me with Danny plugs (which I'll need to buy) but it'll help me with my SP Minnows, bucktails and swim shads. Can't wait to try this out after work today.

    great fishing action, my suggestion is to use single hooks on plugs if your into catch/release.

    Is the anchor roller with the cleat standard on that model mako. My 1975 20' mako doesn't come with a bow roller like that but it looks to make dropping anchor much easier. Can it be built?

    You would cast way further with brad ! But i guess on a boat it doesnt matter

    Braid is great but it's not about how far you cast.

    You have a boat with a fish locator. No skills. It’s like hunting deer at the feeder from 50 yards away. But great explanation. You said penn battle??? You set up is for off shore.

    i'd never use a 50 lb swivel targeting big bass. it's a wear part. after so long it's no longer a 50 lb swivel. it's a 40. it's a 30. and you don't know when that time will come. when i target big bass i am using a 230 lb krok swivel and a 75 to 125 lb TA clip. 40 lb braid and 40 lb flouro for the leader. 200 staal, 9 foot beater every day and i catch more fish in the merrimack river from shore than any man alive.

    @@skimmeroutdoors how often do you really hook fifty pounders, guy? not enough to break 50 lb gear that's going to wear out??? i have shredded rasco splits, worked over vmc hooks, bent the thru wire on a gibbs, etc. all this year. when you get a big fish in retreating surf it can easily generate twice its weight in leverage and bend out your swivel when you're landing the fish. you don't even use braid to catch striped bass! there are better ways to do things and you're just set in your ways and stubborn it seems. most big game striper fisherman use at least 2x size the swivel you're using. guys in the canal use 310# krok to turn fish in heavy current. and we all use braid. i catch more fish from shore in the merrimack river than any man alive for the record. ask around about the dude in the gray hat. on the spots every morning and some nights. finally, a big swivel is a great target to grab onto when you're leadering a fish in the cold and when your hands are waterlogged and torn up. there are a million reasons, same with switching to braid, and yet you won't based on this conversation with a dude giving you every reason under the sun. your only reason is "it works for me." ever think about why that is? why i come up with something meaningful and you just stick your feet in the dirt a little more? cheers and get some bigger swivels and gear. i've got a 50 lb spro in my hand whilst i type this and it's laughable to think that you'd risk leaving gear in the mouth of a big fish because you trusted something so small to land a fifty pound, 20 year old bass.

    Refusing to use braid is just plain antiquated and counter productive.

    Braid has its applications but when fishing for over 50 years and losing 2 fish over 60 pounds because of braid pulling hook at boatside I know that the forgiveness of a quality mono like Ande Monster yellow will always let me land the monster. You need some more experience to make such judgments.

  • @Peter-zg3em
    @Peter-zg3em2 жыл бұрын

    fishes mono. won't tell you why... not it my guy. braid is just objectively better. casts further, no stretch, extremely long lasting and durable. no memory. fairly easy to tie and work with. stronger line at the same size means more line on your spool. it's just better line for fishing topwater in the northeast.
