How to Plow Like The Amish With a Horse Drawn Plow-

Amish live an old world lifestyle. I visited one of my best friends Andy Weaver who grew up with the Amish. He still plows with horses and he was kind enough to teach me (and you for that matter) how to plow like they did over a hundred years ago. It is efficient and doesn't require any any gasoline or diesel.

When I was a kid there was an old man who lived a few miles down the road from us. He still farmed with horses. I would ride my horse out to watch. One of his horses was injured so we used my old mare to plow with It was quite a shock for both her and me. She was just an old gentle mare and took to pulling a plow easily. I on the other hand plowed rows, according to the old man, like a snake crawled.

I am dumb as a rock when it comes to pre-tiller plowing. My property came with rusty bits of old plows that I could never make heads nor tails of. So I set out this evening to educate myself. First came the plow. In my case a single horse walking plow. Then the hookup to the horse. And now the plowing itself including what comes next as in dragging down the hills. Thank you 50 times!! My best to your Amish friend and family as well.May come a time when the most popular guy on the whole block is the one with a horse plow. Norm way down in Alabama

So unusual that an Amish man would be willing to be photographed, and especially to do a video with you. Which makes this all the more special. The Amish I have met over the years have been lovely people.

I believe this is Andy Weaver who is actually now a SDA Christian and runs an SDA church in the heart of Amish country to reach their fellow friends. West Salem Mission. It's a great story. They still choose to dress and live the Amish way, though they aren't "Amish" anymore.

@@gilmarricardo4694 I'm not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but I will try to answer to what I'm thinking you said. God's people are called to dress modestly, yes. I also believe women shouldn't dress like men, and should wear skirts, not slacks. I used to wear a head covering for awhile, but after studying the Bible, I have moved away from that, for now. We are also called to live in the country and get back to tending gardens and learning about God through that vital connection. I get all that. What I was staying in my other comment, is I know this individual, and the story of the church they started in their area to reach their Amish friends. 😊

Lord God, please bless our family with attributes of economic security for a country living in sustainable preparedness. Lord, together or apart, and hopefully together and not apart, please prepare our family to leave the cities for country living, to raise our own food, and make our own previsions, before the passing of the Sunday Law which is the mark of the best, before we are not able as Adventist Christians to buy or sell. God like the Christian prepares and the Amish bless our family to find an affordable place out of the city to be on our own land without having to rent, in an all brick, two-family home with a two-door garage, if at all possible with a healthy and dependable water source, lumber, with good soil, and the houses are not close together, the green hills valleys where we can be witness for Jesus Christ while waiting Jesus Christ return, productively.
