if you followed my tutorial 6 months ago and now you want to change to this method please do the following steps: 1. install xenia from EmuDeck Manage Emulator 2. go to Steam rom manager and put it into classic mode 3. Double-click on Microsoft Xbox360 -Xenia under parsers then on the right side under Executable click browse and navigate to this location: run/media/deck/24aa2581-bd87-48cb-9451-815e22a0ca33/emulation/tools/launchers/xenia.sh (select xenia.sh file) to find this location - after you click browse: First click on home from the left side screen, then click the small left arrow on the top area of the screen, next click the small square box now you will see the run folder. then follow the location on above. 4. Click Save change 5. Inside Steam rom manager re-parser your xbox360 games and re-click add to steam. 6. you can now delete the xenia folder you downloaded 6 months ago from my old video. Now, your xbox360 game will be launched with this new method shown in this video.

native Linux xenia is all we need.

Do you still need to create dummy files for your XBLA roms to get them to work? And if so, do you need to set them up for DLC packs, or just leave them as they are? Sorry, I'm new to Xbox 360 emulation and I'm not too familiar with setting up XBLA roms in Xenia.

great vid. question about Gears of war series do any of them run? i have tried to get gears 2 to run but have been failed. the screen is black when i start the campaign. i dont even think the patches are active that i have tried to apply. the only emulator i have had work is Dolphin which is amazing

gear of war 2 works but you need to copy computer save files to your steam deck then it will fix the black screen issue. you can download my pc game save file under this video desc: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqV_j5akY7HJkrA.html and paste it into you steam deck. Curious to see how Native Xenia performs, hope we see it sometime sooner rather than later. My 360 Dream Deck title (Geometry Wars 2) seems to perform the same, but it’s so close, still impressive. And it’s immaculately more gorgeous on OLED Deck.

⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@brethbk69to fix that empty dark image, I’d change the GPU setting in the canary.config.toml file found in Emudeck’s Xenia folder. He briefly goes over that here: 0:35 It may run much slower than Vulkan, but the image is fixed.

Do i put the entire folder structure of xbla games or just the folder with the long series of numbers?

What I do is only put disk one in the rom folder until you get to the point in the game where it asks you to switch disks, then swap out the rom file. You might need to rename the rom so it matches

Can you do a tutorial on how to swap the other xenia canary we manually installed to this version? I tried to swap to this version but lost all my saves and dlc so I went back to the other version.

Update: the pinned message explained what I asked but doesn't address saved games or dlc. To transfer saves and dlc goto: /home/deck/Emulation/tools/xenia_canary/ and copy the content folder to: /home/deck/Emulation/roms/xbox360/

Thank you, If you only play xbox360 just need to turn on two for Xenia. But if you have other emulators to play then you have to turn the corresponding ones on.

I have a question that I can't figure out. So I have some XBLA arcade games. You know the "digital only" games. They are not in ISO format, they are in 7z, Zip or rar. I drop them on the deck, and nothing shows. What format do these games need to be in? Can they be zipped, or ?

Just did it. When I go to play a game it says wine not installed. Changed the emulator to the proton one and it says proton not installed? Any suggestions?

it will install proton automatically. when you launch the game just wait for about 30 to 45 sec dont close it it will download proton automatically, you dont need to change emulator to proton.

Ayo, I recently tried to set up fable 2 using this version of xenia, did the d3d12 change, still ended up having some weirdly intense moments of slow down. Is that something that goes away (like other emulators when they have to load up textures and such and stutter at the start then become smooth), or am I doing something wrong? It just looks like it runs so much smoother for you

I only changed d3d12 the game just lag for first 2 to 3 minutes after that I will just have a very smooth play. make sure your deck fps limiter is off.

Once I get past the point of being a child my character's textures break and turn black, the dog having similar issues. I tried a couple different versions of proton thinking maybe that might help, but no luck yet. Any advice? Up until that point it actually was running smooth

Hello! I followed this tutorial, and tried playing Dead or Alive 4 on on the Steam Deck, only to just straight up get a black screen. I even went thru multiple Xenia files, and changed things like putting the gps to “d3d12” and even which proton to use, but good. Any chance you can help out with this?

hi, you can try this old version xenia? I did run dead or alive 4 with this old method xenia. Thanks so much for this, I've just updated my Xenia setup on my SteamDeck and it's working well! I noticed you said the GPU setting in xenia-canaray-config.toml is game-specific. Changing it to d312 for NBA Street Homecourt improved the graphics somewhat for me. But is there a way to leave the GPU setting on Vulkan, at least for other games that work better with Vulkan? Because it seems like changing it to d312 changes it for all of my ROMs, not just NBA Street Homecourt. I'm wondering if there's a way to keep it customized on a per-game basis, or do we have to keep track and change this setting manually, every time we pick a title to play?

i dont think you can do this on steam deck to setup different gpu settings for different games.but this can be done on Windows.

Did Linux ever get a version of Xenia, Or is this method still the only method?

Hi! How do you make Fable 2 running so smooth ? I did everything I could, install Xenia through Emudeck, install and set cryotools to 4GB VRAM, changed cfg to d3d12, I tried even lower resolution in cfg file but still cannot get to stable framerates. At start of the game I run about 15fps and dropped to 5fps in more crowded places. I tried to apply patches but there are no options for Fable 2, only disabling AA and that doesnt change much for me. Any other tip what can I try? I have OLED steamdeck with latest stable update. Thanks!

the game is slow at start but after 3 to 4 minutes it will reach 30 to 45 fps.

@ED4T It won't in my case. I tried let it run for 15 minutes, even finished the first part of game with those low fps and nothing changed for me after time. Anything I can try to do ? Or can you give us guide or show changes that you do to fable2 specifically to run this good ? :)

Can you compare this performance to windows xenia version from steam deck?

Most of dlc are not working with pc. It’s only works with xbox360 console itself. Xenia is still on its early stage of development.

Let it run for couple minutes it will get better. Also you can disable graphical options in the configure files.

Hi didnt work on me. Follow this New video (Not the older video) and did the steps… but no succes. I didnt Change anything to vulkan neither other things, Just follow video. I saved my rom ISO on primary (sd card) but needed to créate files (emulation , roms etc) after this parsed and run game on game mode… and a error Message says “ unable to mount selected file” please help!!

I am not sure why you have to manually create emuatlion / roms folder. they are automatically created when you were installing EmuDeck. did you actually installed emu deck onto your internal storage but manually created. emulation folder onyour SD Card? you can try to do a custom rest for your emudeck make sure you pick sd card when your rest it.

I tried to play Minecraft Xbox 360 and it gave me an error message (can't remember what it said, it just said something about a bad iso), tried to extract the iso to see if that would work and it ended up creating 20+ games that had nothing to do with minecraft (and not all of them were exactly the kind of thing you want to play around the youngins if you catch my drift), can someone pls help ;-;

@@ED4T I did some more looking and found out that the error I received was due to a pirated iso, even though I did technically pirate the rom, I already own a copy (2 actually) of the game I was attempting to emulate (Minecraft), is there a cracked Xenia version I can use?

great !

Even on PC Xbox360 emulation is shaet. 18% compatibility, iirc. Waste of time.

have you tried with other games? not all games are playable.

Turok just wont even run which is a shame

xenia is still an experimental emulator especially on steam deck. not a native app for steam deck.
