I’m new to 40 k, watched this 5 times and I still don’t get it 😂👏💯 great video tho I’ll get there
As someone who's only been into warhammer for a few months, trying to learn 9th and now 10th. This makes it so much easier. So thank you very much for this breakdown.
MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE!! this is the 4th time ive watched this video all the way through, while painting miniatures, its really helped me to get a solid grip on the rules system, maybe an advance or FAQ style one next, or faction specific rules breakdown. really appreciate the hard work you put into this. Also you have a much better presentation, personality, voice and vibe than alot of other similar channels i have come across, the british accent helps a tonne. thanks bro
Thanks for making the changes, the video is sooooooooo much better now without all the static and I'll be using it loads as a reference whilst learning 10th.

I'm currently 24 minutes into the video & bro I needed to put you at .5 speed 😅 so many key words to remember & what means what 🤯 I'm brand new to 40k so yeah this definitely is alot 🤯
Hey, thank you so much for removing the static! I can now watch it without risking a seizure. It means a lot to me that you cared enough to do this ♡
Great work! You are a real asset to the community with your approach. I appreciate the way you generally tend to go about abstracting complexities.
That was a fantastic video. I'm sure that a hell of a lot of work went into making that but it's super concise and informative. I'll be sharing round my community here in Japan, so thanks so much!
Good video explained the rules well, thank you
A question a lot of people have asked. Aircraft and towering and ruins: You can shoot them through ruins if you have true line of sight to them. However can they shoot back?
This is by far the best guide I've found for any game - video game and board game a like! Going to play my first game with my mates and they've played a few before so I thought I'd really get to know the game well and your video has delivered. I'm taking notes on what you've said in the video to take along that way I can keep up with the game. Thankyou so much!! This video is amazing (:
Phenomenal Video, been trying to learn how to play for months and this really helped clear up some issues I had.
I was just reading this and I'm so glad I found this video. It is a lot to read and remember and I'd taken so many screen shots that it was defeating the purpose. Thanks!
For someone who doesn’t keep up with all the leaks etc this is great 👏🏻🤟🏻👍
Super comprehensive and clear explanation of the rules. I'll be getting my gaming group to watch it as we plan to get into 40K with the advent of 10th edition. Thanks for all your hard work on the video.

Thank you for going ham with all the chapter breaks it’s very useful.
This was everything I needed in a how to video! Thank you so much
Just played first game and wow! This video allows a new player like me to learn how to play a game of 40k! I bet I got some rules wrong along the way, but that can be corrected later when I play a game with a experienced player! My first game was a lot of fun, thanks!
Thanks for the video! , its the best how to play vid I've seen so far. Great job.
Great video. Thank you SO much for putting this together!
Great guy! Was having trouble understanding the fall back rule & it’s related battle shock, & this helped wonderfully! Saved for later
Thanks for that. It was really helpful, it solved all my doubts and more!
Best turtorial for this game! Now I easily know how to play this game I will share this with my friends. Fantastic turtorial!

I thought it was just me that the status was bothering, it became nauseating to the point I could only listen to the video, and not watch it. props on the reupload
Thank you for making this, the content of the previous video were amazing but the static was really grating on the eyes. This one is flawless
Wow thanks!! this is priceless, just getting into 40k and this helps soooo much!!
I am just getting into Warhammer and I'm really excited. I don't have my army yet because I definitely want to research more about how I should probably build mine, as I'm going to be running my favorite army/ faction, the Grey Knights. Deeply appreciate this video and I'll probably have to rewatch bits and pieces again to understand it later on, but thank you so much for helping out the new players. Most of the online community like seems extremely welcoming of new people and that's always a great sign
For someone that hasn't played since scatter dice and weapon templates this is fantastic. Thank you.
Very cool re-edit. Hope it wasn't too much work! Planning to dip my toe into this game later this year so I'll be referencing this video pretty often.
I’d actually say the smaller the dice, the more fair and random the dice roll will be as it should rotate more times than a bigger dice! So people who use large dice are freaks to me!😅

If this was to my question in the first video about small dice etiquette, then thanks for the answer! Like I said in the last post, trying to go to my first event and be a good opponent. Watching tourney regulars talk makes me realize there are a lot of little details that are a matter of course for them, but that new players probably wouldn't even think of.

The static wasn't an issue for me watching the original upload, but seeing this when coming back to rewatch it today, I can say that I do appreciate this re-upload. I think I'm probably going to come back to this one if I need a reference for something lol
Just started the hobby and was gonna go with 9th addition rules till the core rules for v10 came out. Thanks for this vid as now I won’t need to wait and re-learn!
You deserve a lot more subs and views!!
Great job, thanks!!
Great reference video - thanks for the efforts put in! As a returning player it’s a hell of a lot to take in but the time stamps are dead handy. Enjoy 10th!

I didn't scroll deep into the comments; did anyone mention the sequencing in the Combat phase? The new rules call out, "In both steps of the Fight phase, players alternate selecting eligible units from their army, one at a time, starting with the player whose turn is not taking place, and fighting with them." So, even in the Fight First phase, it starts with the Defender/Players whose turn it is not. FYI!

Nice measuring sticks! Where did they come from?
Question concerning Ruins and visibility and whether they get benefit of cover in this situation: A unit of Necron Warriros vs a unit of Intercessors (only as an example) If there is a unit of Warriors inside of the terrain feature (open back of the ruins so it only covers the front and side) what if the intercessors go behind the ruins so the unit of warriors become fully visible - would that remove the benefit of cover since you are now fully visible even though the benefit of cover rule states "Wholly within this terrain feature or not fully visible" as they are still fully within the terrain but just fully visible now I'd be expecting it to be the benefit of cover is removed but wording is still a bit iffy.
I hope the algorithm gods are kind to you. Right decision to tweak what is now the perfect intro to 10th Ed video.
Thanks.... Now I'm going to have Nappy Roots stuck in my head for the next month.
Even 40K based content videos are getting errata releases so quickly these days! 😂 Great work.
The rules are surprisingly simple the way the official Warhammer channel explained it in their 8 min video. The only thing I'm wondering about are options to disengage from melee. It seems once you get bogged down after the charge phase it's pretty much a slugging match from there on. It looks like there are only penalties for trying to reposition a weaker unit from getting torn apart.
Oh thank goodness! That static was horrible. It was making my eyes hurt.

@@TheHonestWargamer don’t threaten me with a good time
In the engagement range section at 12:02, you state engagement range is defined as 1" horizontally, and 5" vertically. Then, in the charge phase example at 36:08, you state that the squad could not make the charge. Is this example a mistake? Making it to directly below them should constitute being within engagement range, making it possible to make a successful charge on a roll of 9+, or is it the case that you cannot declare the charge because the combined distance is >12" as per previous editions? (or some other oversight on my part?) Thanks for the incredibly detailed video, exciting to see the new edition coming together!

Thanks for the reply, glad to know there wasn't some hidden rule change omitted somewhere. Easy mistake to make, especially when you're God knows how many hours deep into these rules explanations. I just think it's good to highlight from you personally, when many people will use this as a starting point for rules debates as the edition starts. An example where it would be the case is if the downstairs was impassable like a container, and the models on top were more than an inch from the closest edge.(I know you know this, just for anyone new) thanks again for your hard work on this, awesome resource.
So if i use Rapid Ingress on a unit with Deepstrike does it have the restrictions of 6" from the edge like the rest or can i place it anywhere like a normal Deepstrike?
Is there no longer a vertical engagement distance? Hiding from monsters on first floors again?
Do you gauge cover on a model by model basis or unit by unit? If models does that mean some models in a unit get a cover save and some don’t? Or if half the unit isn’t visible does the whole unit get a cover save
are the crusade rules in the book? my store is doing a campaign in july and i just want to know how to do it right and not rush learn in a week

havent played since second edition...back when terminators rode motorcycles and all the figs were literal weapons... this video was a good catchup, but its going to take some playthroughs to fully get up to speed
I am new to the game and I am confused by benefit of cover, mainly because of the difference between models and units. The answer is probably staring me in the face but please help me. Here is the scenario: An attacking unit has five models and the target unit has 5 models. Only one of the models of the target unit is fully visible to all of the attacking models. How many models in the target unit can be fired at and/or take the effects of being fired on and what is the benefit of cover for the target unit?
Appreciate the change, excellent introduction video to 40k

Nice!
What about HQ's that have Leader that also say, "This model can be attached to a unit that already has a Leader? Does that models Leader abilities still activate? For instance, Having a Foul Blightspawn attached to a unit of Plague Marines, being led by Lord of Contagion.
Where to get the cool tSN-branded combat gauges at 1:32?
So I have a question that I can not find. Is the painted army rule still in 10th edition?
The new changes look crazy
much better, good of you to make this
Do units in deepstrike count towards strategic reserves?
Great introduction video Rob. Really hyped for 10th after watching this.

I'm confused about the engagement range rule. The rule says you cannot set up or end models on normal, adv, fall back moves. But how do models end up in engagement range anyways? If I have a unit that's 10" away from an enemy unit, I move up 6" (4" awake from enemy) then I'm in engagement range? Or am I not allowed to do that since it's ending a normal move within engagement range. I am assuming a model/unit makes a charge and that's how the unit gets into engagement range.
@tradingjedi63
Жыл бұрын
Yes. You must declare and perform a successful charge move
Do we know if it’s possible to embark more than one unit in a transport? E.g. 2 units of 5 models and 2 characters in a transport with a capacity of 12?
@slippyboi6361
Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, unless the transport specificies otherwise you could put 3 Bladeguard Veteran squads into something like a Land Raider if you really wanted to
They don't explain who goes first when both units have it. So if one unit charges and has fight 1st and the other unit has it. Who goes 1st?
Also ty for this slimmed down version and the other one, alot of work goes into these and you are a true Chad!
In the fight phase at 38:54 , you said "If all of one player's units have fought then the other player can resolve all of their combats". Isn't it supposed to be alternating between players?
@bruderfaust5021
Жыл бұрын
Sequencing doesn't apply at all in the fight phase. "In both steps of the Fight Phase, players alternate selecting eligible units from their army, one at a time, starting with the player whose turn is not taking place, and fighting with with them." Exact text from page 32 of the new rules
As someone who barely knows anything about this game when it comes to how to play it (known a tonne about the lore for ages) this is a bit difficult to follow I guess because it's a lot of information crammed into short segments so I'm forgetting things almost as quickly as I've learned them. Perhaps I would be happier getting the core rules book so I can ruminate on it more.
Wow, comprehensive.
