Excellent build & video. I’ve been absolutely wrecking solo the lake Doric veteran & elite centaurs sometimes in groups of 5-6 with untamed. Which is a spot I’ve had trouble soloing at before.

Untamed love 😎👌

Was just looking to see if anyone had stuff pertaining to Untamed, and I wanted to throw out my 2 cents on the Untamed spec (since I've been playing it over soulbeast recently) One combo that I've found fun is switching between hammer unleashed and leashed mode with fervent force ('u' will be referencing when yourself is unleashed). Doing u2 -> u4 (swap unleash in middle of animation) -> 3 -> 5 (swap in mid anim) -> u2 -> u4 (swap mid anim) -> 3 (swap mid anim) -> exploding spores -> u2 -> u4.. is a satisfying loop since the spores help substitute in for 5 hit to keep your cooldowns bouncing. If the combo chain is interrupted, I swap to my longbow with u2 -> u4 -> u5 (swap unleash) -> pet skills (swap unleash) -> u1 -> 2, then can use spores to reset cooldowns to use 4, 2 again, then swap back to hammer. Another silly gap closer that can be used in PvP or open world is hammer 5 cast then also cast unnatural traversal, which can do the knockdown from a very far distance away, followed up by spores or vine cage.

I've been playing my untamed as my "openworld" build, it's tanky, hits hard enough to clear content, has great AoE. It's never going to rival a Soulbeast in a strike/raid/fractal for flat dps burst on a single target but I'm fine with that, I have WAY more fun with untamed in openworld than I ever did with Soulbeast.

Ah nice! So you have to combo in the unleash while "casting" the cc hammer skills to get quickness! Thank you for explaining this for my concern in last video! You are the best 👌

Just wanted to say that this was a really good breakdown of the Untamed... Not rushed this time, deliberate mousing of skills and traits. Well done. Now if you can just do that with Armor, Weapons, Trinkets, Runes, Sigils and Infusions you will have done a perfect reversal of the other video I commented on.... Honestly this was really well done. Thank you

not a ranger main, but i have been enjoying Untamed so much (despite the clunkiness). it's tankier than soulbeast and does more damage than druid, so it definitely has a role in the open world. soloing champions is easier on Untamed due to how tanky it is and spamable cc. my only wish is that ambush skill aligns with weapon swap and pet unleashed skills vary differently depending of the archetype because right now choosing any pets doesnt matter that much. also, i think they could have just combined the 2 modes of hammer skills (aa, 2 cc, 2 skills that does more damage on cc).

it is true how tanky it is with damage is just beautiful 😆 I was all not for the arch-type (my original comment) but I have been thinking with the 1-sec cooldown on the unleash maybe it is not a bad thing not necessary but not bad They won't make it anyway

The thing about applying quickness by swapping hammer mid move feels more like a bug than a feature, and it really isnt worth doing when mechanist is a class.

It is actually a feature CMC pointed it out in the lifestream before the beta It is meant more for PVP play And if you are camping unleash stat for DPS maybe not worth it but if you want to switch for bet unleashed or to get access to unleashed ambush skills then it might be worth doing 😃

@@PaperRoll I see, I still think the class needs a lot of work though, ive made countless posts on reddit and the forums, but Anet will never listen. In PvP it just is not worth it to play, nothing actually feels special about the class, especially when you don't take hammer or fervent force.

@@Evenaardez I don't like untamed in PVP or WvW too not great in damage or survivability it offers unique things like boon remove/corrupt projectile defense better than any ranger but it feels weak compared to everything else And even though it is playable with power it is really annoying with condition At least I'm having a blast in open-world PvE 😆

Do you have a recommneded build for pvp for soulbeast i really love shortbow but doesnt seem to be viable pvp . I love your cele roaming soulbeast build for wvw

Depending on your rank and skill level it can work with my old soul beast PVP build even untamed conditions with setting up close to PvE can be great for the problem with it in general is too much cleanse in the game now make it a little difficult I haven't played PVP for more than a year so I'm not as deep in it 😅

Having the best time with your untamed build in OW..ty for the great guide. Any chance of making a Hammer build in the future that works as great?

AHA! That 15 second cooldown is why it felt like the Ambush skill feels bugged to me. I'm not sure it is even worth considering in most combats.

Normally it is worth using for the heal and switching for the pet skills But depending on the weapon some like axe have great hits some like short bow not so much 😌

Best PvE ranger 😆

Unleashed ambush is better off as a part of the basic attacks. Its clunky, the fact that you have to wait 15 sec. For it it to come up is really troublesome and when you didn’t hit or cancel the ability, you’ll have to wait another 15 sec. Not fun.

You get used to it with time but this way to get to control it better if you want to access the pet skills to get a cc before using the ambush (for pvp or wvw as an example) you can do that without the ambush skill go immediately you want to time it But I see why a lot of people don't like that it is a 15-sec cooldown and that is about balancing some of those skills can be quite powerful, do I think they should lower it not sure honestly I'm not going to say yes because it will buff me 😝
