    Ehh, this opening requires your opponent to make some quite uncommon moves (Nf3 and Nxd5) and leaves you in a situation where they're still slightly favored and would require a 1 move blunder. Not to mention if they take with the queen instead, which is the far more natural and common move, you're just straight up down a pawn with no compensation. Plus you have to play the advance french half the time, which I'm sure nobody here wants to do lol.

    more if you consider the positional aspect, you have an awkwardly placed knight if they are smart enough to take the bishop with check, making it difficult to castle without losing it later on. White also is a tempo ahead as they can develop their knight to block the mate afterwards and are up in rook development. This is just a worse version of the Scholar's

  • @zachs.4371

    @zachs.4371

    Жыл бұрын

    Nah, there's positional compensation, lichess gives +0.3 (don't respond to Bb5 with Bd7 though lol, play Nc6). The real problem is, most of the time they'll take the pawn with the queen, which does just leave you down a pawn.

  • @vlibrovs

    @vlibrovs

    @@zachs.4371 I don't think there's enough compensation for a central pawn for black. Also the author didn't show the best responses from white.

    @@vlibrovs Lichess apparently thinks there is, and going through the lines white either gives back a pawn or ends up in a very awkward position (doesn't castle or has bad piece activity). But yeah, it's not worth learning when so much has to go right to get there, just to end up with a position that is even or slightly unfavored.
