You're welcome! Thanks for the request!
Very cool intro, what's interesting is in the 4th bar of the original, the bassline goes to A on the third beat. However, in almost every other version Joe Henderson recorded ("No Me Esqueca" from "In Pursuit of Blackness", "Joe Henderson Quintet at the Lighthouse, various live recordings on KZread, etc.) the bassline goes to G on that beat.

Well, I started playing the video and wasn’t visually watching and noticed a big difference. I thought I was hearing the thud of medium spirocores and caught me off guard. Then I noticed the scroll. Matt, tell us about this bass and setup with strings. I’m truly intrigued as this is a very different sound from the “old school” that you seem to prefer.

Good ears - yeah, totally right. I sold my Upton a couple weeks ago and got this hybrid Shen - the size and shape is easier to manage, though the Upton sounded excellent. And yes these are Spiro mediums! I’ve come full circle from where I started 30 years ago haha. But sincerely, I’m not sure if I will Keep them on - I’m still figuring out the right strings for this bass. One thing of course is that they bow like a dream…an interesting phenomenon to me is that so far I’m feeling like the result is the opposite of expected. Usually the sound you hear as the player is not as good as out in front. But hearing these recorded, I’m noticing that like the sound under my ears better than what’s in front. Thanks for noticing, watching, and asking!
I didn’t know this song, I am preparing a list of version of this. Seems really nice. Thank you.

@thomasbrinkley7191 LOL welcome to the butcher shop. We are all experts at butcher-y
This is Great. One on my favorite performances is Joe Comfort on Sarah Vaughan's "when lights are low". I've probably listened to it hundreds of times but I am not skilled enough to transcribe the whole piece, have you done anything with this?

@@LearnJazzBasswithMattRybicki It's a great lesson! I like the shift for the C to Bb. It's simple but opened up ideas for other shifts. Keep up the great work!
