When I was a kid, we only collected 50k when landing exactly on the Salary space, no just passing. Did they change the rule, or were we playing wrong? I do remember we were always broke, with tons of debts, so that could've been the reason, lol.

Its a bit like Monopoly but with an end.

I played this game 26 years ago. I would always skip marriage and kids. I broke the rule of choosing a teacher career card without going to college. Years later, I became a teacher without earning a degree, and I'm still single and childless 🙂

Reuben Klamer the toy inventor of "The Game of Life" died on 9/14/21 He also created the phaser rifle used in the" Star Trek" TV series. It's amazing that a man who created one of the most popular games in US history ended up being it's biggest winner of all. He lived to be 99 years old. Obviously he knew a lot more about winning in the real game of life than anybody ever gave him credit for.

Played about 4 games of this tonight. Love it. I enjoy it more than the old version I'm used to from the 90's and on. I miss some of the old jobs tho.

This lockdown gave me chance to play it properly Specially with my family like this I never got chance to play with my family

We just played the 2007 edition tonight and it is INSANE how much this game has changed since this point. This game is constantly changing with each revision- some of the rules stated here may be accurate for the current version of the game but according to the rule book we read tonight would not be permitted. Read the rules of your book carefully, I suppose!

Man, I he up with my family's traditional 1950-60's versions of these games. Life, Yhatzee, Monopoly. The games rules were so different. If you can get em please show some the old school ones. They were so different! Life had revenge spaces and all kinds of evil stuff.

I just got life for the first time in many year and it is different I thought remembering wrong I'm happy to find out that the game was as I remember now I'm trying to figure out why they changed the game

Its not complex. The instructions in the box do a really good job of explaining it so as you play you can easily refer to the instructions if you forget.

Do the rules for The Game of Life for different decades? Like the 80s version and 60s version of the game for example?

Also what about the version without pets? I had one of those.

Not sure if it applies irl but in the mobile game retired players can still participate in action spots.

Play it with the boys, one of the best "group" games that we've ever played

College career deck(or which ever you started the game with).

I was expecting some kind of second level play strategy, for some reason, not a manual summary. You should do a second one, Mastering X, because even simple games have some next level stuff. Looking at the base rules, clearly there is some career strategy related to the upper and lower bounds, and a house strategy as well.

This game is purely on luck, am I right? Compare to Monopoly which has slight strategy (95% luck, 5% strategy)

It's not actually that bad, at least in my experience. My least favourite part of it are the action cards that say 'whoever spins the highest gets x money' which for me really slow the game down and is just annoying due to their abundance. That being said, there are a few factors which make make me prefer my 1985 edition, but the advantage of this game is its simplicity. That being said, I agree with the sentiment of your comment.

Object of the game: get your token to the center of the board and shout "jumanji!" rhino space: if you land here then you will take the rhino and put it in front of another player and they cant move unless they roll an even number on their turn. 5 or 8 space: player that lands on this cant move unless they roll 5 or 8 on their next turn. Blank space: take a card. Stick it in the decoder and read it out loud. Look at the symbol and number on the card. Flip the hour glass and everyone rolls the rescue die until they roll the matching symbol on the card. If you get it in time, you move forward the number of spaces. If you dont roll it in time, you go backward the number of spaces and place the card on the doomsday grid(left side card spaces). If the doomsday grid gets full, then everyone loses. Jungle Space:(big circle) if you land here, everyone does what you do for a blank space, accept, everyone moves the number of spaces.
