10 years later and I’m trying to get into StarCraft. Most beginner guides at this point are straight up too advanced for me because I don’t even know what or how they’re pushing their buttons to make things happen that it all goes over my head. This is a welcome change of pace even though it’s an older video.

This is great! I am exactly the kind of person who needs these videos... I have never played an RTS game before. My boyfriend taught me to play (and I used the in-game tutorials), but this is even better.

Nice explanation. Sadly i found your videos just now, almost a decade later :D The one thing i disagree with is the point about camera movement with arrow keys. I would highly encourage new players to turn up the camera scroll speed to the maximum and get used to it. The time loss of getting your hands off of wasd keys or genereally the left side of the keyboard to get to the arrow keys and then find your way back to the left side mid fight can mean the difference between controlling your units in a critical moment or sitting there and watching them being destroyed. Generally the less you move your hands around and the more often your fingers are already above or near the right keys the faster you will play and the more control you will have over your units.

Thanks for your comment! I agree with your point. I recently made a new video specifically covering hotkeys and camera controls where I give an updated (an imo much better) explanation of how to deal with camera movement. :)

WTF? You should never use the keyboard arrows. Have your fingers ready on the hotkeys.
