For everyone wondering what the strumming pattern is, it's roughly: First string Strum First string Strum Strum First string Strum Really fast Alternating unevenly between strumming and plucking the first string. It's hard to explain in words without being able to write rhythms

I just love how sometimes she kinda sings some random words while talking, like: 2:05 *all of your* four fingers down 2:16 *one* 3:10 *one* AGAIN (there was another more subtle one but I left it out) it's extremely cute and it makes me come back to these videos every once in a while cause it makes me smile

+Snjólaug Vera she's kind of like playing the base note with her thumb and then just messily playing the rest of the strings with her other 4 fingers. You play the base note, which is always the e string (We'll call it B) and then the rest which we'll call R. so it's B, R, B, R, R, B, R. It's not really strumming, more like plucking but you're more running your fingertips over the strings haha. I hope that made sense. It took me forever but you'll get it.

For everyone who doesn't want to put their guitar in Open D the chords for standard tuning are: [No Capo] Verse: D, G Chorus: Bm, A,G (The last line is "(Bm) You would find (A)her, in a (D) Polaroid (G) Picture, (Bm) and she (A) means everything to (G) me") Bridge: Bm, A, G

0:59 for tuning of deepest string. 1:06 for the next fancy tuning string. Then 1:12 And finally 1:18. You’re welcome.

Why on earth would anyone give this a thumbs down? Anyway, Dodie: You did a fine job of demonstrating the song without standard music notation or tabs. However, I'm sure you would benefit greatly from learning to read and write music. It's not hard. If you can learn the times tables you can learn how to deal with reading notes. It's really not that hard. But even if you don't learn to read notes I still say that you have the gift of music. You have a good ear, great talent for songwriting, and a lovely, lovely voice. So keep making music!

Dodie, just wanted to tell you that you are absolutely wonderful, and I'm going to sing this song for open mic one of these days... once I get good enough!! Please keep making music, they're all fantastic.

Depends on if you're strumming. If you are then strain away if you're finger picking like she is in this video think of it as the thumb taking care of the lower pitch 3 strings and the other three fingers take care of the higher pitch 3 strings. This is just a basic like starting point kind of like finger picking but it's something you learn to do over time. DON'T GIVE UP YOU CAN DO IT C:

I have Cerebral Palsy in my right hand so strumming - especially picking is _torture_! But I'm determined to learn this regardless of how uncomfortable it makes me, haha.

For the music theory kids out there, the chords are : D/G69 for the verse (Bm7/A7/ G69)x2 Bm7/D on f#/G69 for the bridge A7/ G69 All this is repeated, figure the order out yourself :P

doddleoddle Playing the same chords in standard tuning is actually a lot less moving up and down the fret board, but I love that your style of playing keeps the low strings in the chords bc it sounds so much warmer! Normally I don't tune my guitar differently unless I have to, but you've got me hooked on this tuning!
