    how can I make my guitar sound like that?

  • @JohnJesus

    @JohnJesus

    5 жыл бұрын

    There are 3 main aspects in the sound of an electric guitar: 1 - The electronics of the guitar, especially the pickups 2 - The guitar amplifier used (and pedals) 3 - The guitar player / tone of the player You can grab a cheap fender squire, change the pickups for the best you can find (which will be more expensive than the guitar itself), set up the guitar properly, put it through a good valve amp, and hand it to a good guitarist -- the guitar will sound great, no matter the genre. I hope this helps!

    Bob Marley major strength was in songwriting; not guitar playing.The title for your video is mis-leading. How to play reggae would be more appropriate. Although Bob Marley played a major role in popularizing reggae (AND he is NOT the first Jamaican artist to do so) outside of Jamaica there is no such thing as a "Bob Marley style of reggae" BECAUSE it's the lead guitarists in the wailers band (Junior marvin, Al Anderson, Earl "Chinna Smith etc) along with the bass player Aston "Family Man" Barrett who are responsible for the sweet melodious riffs that you hear in Bob Marley songs. Listen to the song "It Hurts To Be Alone" and what stands out in the song is NOT Bob's singing but the melodious solo playing of the GREAT Jamaican Jazz guitarist Ernie Ranglin. Bob Marley major strength was in songwriting; not guitar playing.

  • @JohnJesus

    @JohnJesus

    4 жыл бұрын

    No, the title is exactly what I explain in the video: How Bob Marley Played Rhythm Guitar (how to play reggae rhythm guitar LIKE Bob Marley). I never said it was the ONLY way to play reggae, nor that Bob was the greatest guitarist.... The video is NOT about "how to play reggae" either. It SPECIFICALY is about how Bob Marley played the chords on the guitar. So, sorry, but the title is exact.

    Nobody ever try to play the wailers music, leave it alone you'll only ruin it, purists like me will only cringe, it's well known in the true reggae community to never try to do the wailers music it's sacred ffs

  • @JohnJesus

    @JohnJesus

    2 жыл бұрын

    I am not playing "The Wailers music" here - I am teaching how Bob played the chords. Did you read the title? Calling yourself a purist and having this attitude just says you are close minded, and that you don't really play music, because if you did you would not say such things... Playing someone's music is the greatest complement you can give that artist. It means you listened to it, that you put in the time and made the effort to learn, and that you are willing to expose yourself through that song. Obviously no one will sound like Bob and not even the current Wailers band have the same exact vibe = different musicians, different spirits, different expressions. No one is trying to be better than Bob - we are honouring him, showing we appreciate him and his music by playing it.

  • @351clevelandmodifiedmotor4

    @351clevelandmodifiedmotor4

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@JohnJesus yeh the currant wailers bands don't have the same vibe that's because 99 percent of the two wailers bands are not them, and I didn't say that you were playing the wailers music I said never play it just for people who get the idea to play it, look at it this way what if some group played a bob Marley song and people think that it's better than bob Marley and the wailers, do you think they would like that? Like if someone looked a bit like Bruce Lee and could do all the moves and made a while bunch of movies and was better than Bruce Lee nobody would want to watch Bruce Lee movies anymore, so as a mark of respect it's good to leave their work alone it's like a grave like a shrine, it's sacred, you understand , your guitar strumming sounds very much like early wailers guitar strumming, not so much like bobs style , he just went chick chick chick, petter went chicka chicka chicka, and so did the other 4 wailers lead guitarist, Donald, Kinsey, Earl cyhna smith, Al Anderson and junior marvin, just to keep the signature style going,
