This Lao guide is amazing Rewind, simple explanation, one thing to note if you get the chance to punish with F33 into the BNB is more damage than starting with 212.

I just picked up lao a week or so ago and this guide is going to help me level up my game BIG TIME

The WORST thing about lao (not much bad with him) is that 121 string. Trying to hit that consistently esp cially against laggier opponents feels too inconsistent.

"When you're in range to do this move(Armor Shaolin Shimmy) you do this move" I love Rewinds Guides 😂 it's always a pleasure and he puts you in the high level 1%er mindset. He doesn't realize it but most of the stagger/sweep into Armor are legit mixups thats lost on most. Most players only understand OH/Low mix and there is auto shimmy, hit/throw, frame trap mix, blockstring kameo pressure mix, plus strings into delayed kameo baits, -4ob into backdash for wiff punishing and high/overhead mix(HL players microduck highs on reads & Mid/Lows/OH's catch them unless they DuckOS. But even a competitive player like me who plays locally in tournaments learns so much from Rewinds guides! Much love

For fellow Smoke mains, Smoke’s B4 is also plus. I did not even think to use this but I’m going to start testing in KL to see if that solves some problems I have with getting B2 to keep from getting interrupted (and to land).

With a lot of char. A sweep then throw is a good manuver....also don't forget the spin move the enhanced one can move around and during that spin moving u are invincible against everything....I'll do it at beginning of match and it will eat projectiles like Serena and jump kicks etc. But great guide I am going to try it now lol thanks

A jump kick hitting a grounded opponent can combo into a mid hat toss (down back 1) which can combo into the far version of Goro ambush. This grants just over a throw's worth of damage and a bit of hit advantage.

Another great optimal corner combo no bar 43% b24 s4 b24 b24 121 bf2 and a nice 1 bar optimal is b24 s4 b24 f333 ex db2 jump 4 bf2. It does 46% you can also get 2 b24's with 212 Goro cameo or just Ex db4 only in the corner 42 without cameo

I know that goro is a pretty good launch that allows kung lao to continue a combo but scorpion is too and I actually prefer him because "up RB" bring your opponent bclose to kung lao allowing him to continue the combo

The problem with Scorpion is that paired with Kung Lao it's only a combo extender. Whereas Goro is not only a combo extender, also covers unsafe moves like f2 or db4, is a string extender, and helps with KL's zoning. Scorpion Kameo is just inferior in this case.

DB4 J4 works in corner instead of J2 for basically all combos for a little extra dmg

So for comboing after upblock, and in similar situations where you are punishing, doing b2 4 is optimal, can get 38% meterless no kameo

Haha Laos 212 is a crazy shimmy it’s the sequence of the 21 that catches you if you try to tech OS, similar to Liu Kang

Kharacters like Liu Kang or And Kharacter with a good armor break can get through the wakeup

Rewind forgot to mention that spin is his most important tool. ( its plus on block)

Yessirrr another banger guide 🐐 you can actually get a stand 4 for that mid screen combo too 🫰🏽

Not worth it, since Goro does what Sonya does and more. Sonya Kameo with Kung Lao is mostly a combo extender. The rest of her kit is either inferior or limited utility: her leg grab is a mid, Goro's grab is overhead; Ring Toss doesn't help with zoning, and charging it only works in oki but doesn't add anything KL can't do already in that situation.

I found this out by accident at the start of a round a week ago vs Raiden. I stood 4 when I was trying to to do soaring monk and just stand kicked Raiden right out of the air. It set the tone and I whooped him the whole match lol.

I use Kung Lao and Darius. First half of my combo does 14 hits and 2nd half does 16. It drains like ⅔ of their health if I hit it off

I found a meter less combo with Kung Lao in the corner w/ fatal blow that does like 48% Fun fact: You can use toro after normal Shaolin Shimmy or BF2 in the corner

@nicklattimorecomedy5497 yeah my muscle memory is the issue it’s so bad lol. I haven’t played mortal Kombat since the ps2 fighting styles 😳 so this was a BIG change lol. I just started couple days ago but I like it so far, I’m maining Kung Lao right now and trying to get the ground-to-air kombos committed to memory depending on who I’m fighting (you’re right about that) It’s been so fun! Reiko & Shao Kahn are a pain in the ass to fight so far 😭🤣.

That doesn't work at all. B33 is not cancelable and Goro's throw is not an ambush. What kind of opponents are letting you call Goro freely?

Whats 1 2 3 4 buttons? Is 1 triangle for example?

I can’t the timing down for Goro with the back 33. It seems like I can never get the pop up. When you do all call him in the animation?

Pretty much right away, just do B33 into Goro all in one motion

You can armor through the b3 but I think Goro will eat it if you do the low version

Sonya is a good kameo for him, he can convert off his armor with her square wave.

I prefer to use Lao/Lao for counter zoning and good Low Hat, Jump in Combos + the Hat and F2 Combo. People gettin annoyed of the hat spamming and I will win xD

anyone have cool tech w Sonya kameo?? I cant find any reason to use her over goro so i gotta be missing something. I like Lao and want to use him for fun KOTH with friends but dont wanna use Goro constantly

Youre sleeping on the B14 as a mixup, the second hit is a low and it combos w Goro and the first hit is 6 frames and punishes ALOT of characters who use -7 moves and think theyre safe lol

Kung lao biggest flaw is his neatrul & range it’s terrible

Back 1 is his fastest button, zero range though but can punish pretty much anything up close!
