    I really like that you can finally field a good one-box list of a bespoke warband only adding a Varanguard! Great job as always

    haha, warbands will always have some sort of weakness and a varanguard happens to fill all of them XD That being said, I do think that Jade Obelisk can do a 1 box decently well even if it's just on how efficient their guys are :)

    Great to see that video. Just build my jade obelisk yesterday. Went for the Hammer instead of the picks. Time to retool those 3 guys. :)

    Many thanks! Hammers are still good, it's just that for some reason picks end up being mathematically better despite the same price :)

    @@OffMetaMusings I found the pick and hammer comparable when eyeballing their stats. I then went for what looks cooler.

    I would now like to see you do a similar analysis of the Cypher Lords, and not just because I want to see how you describe their resilience if a warband where you can get 20 wounds on a 110 point fighter is called fragile!

    Haha, sure the obelisk bearer is great for its points cost; I was more referring to Descecrators when I said that but yeah, nothing is stopping you from playing an OB heavy warband (though the damage won't be as good ofcourse) 😉

    Haha! The 8 desecrator warband sound fun! Or at least "fun". But I think you might underestimate the Idolarc. Often it´s actually a net without the randomness. With a 5 or 6 you almost completley stop most fighters in the game.

    My problem with thr Idolarc (aside from being the most squishy in a warband of squishy fighters) is that if you were thinking of taking something like a Blissbringer or Mindstealer; they both have access to net abilities on far better bodies.

    @@OffMetaMusings True, but they still need that 3+ and are rather short ranged. But you might very well be right in practice!

    Thanks for video :) "Damage Reduction" is a shortcut for thinking about the effect that reaction provides, but it can be misleading :) [ The Curse of Jade ] "Subtract 1 from the damage point allocated (...)" means: You decided to react. Attacker makes his attack. Damage is allocated. If your fighter will not die you remove as many damage tokens as there were hits or critical hits. (To a Minimum of One :-) ) It does not say: "For this attack action reduce the attacker weapon damage characteristic by 1 point for hit and critical hit.". Period.

  • @ducdusang

    Adding and subtracting likely refers to the totalling damage process part of allocating before they are given to the recipient. Otherwise, it would say "remove" like it does with other abilities.

  • @OffMetaMusings

    @OffMetaMusings

    The effect is to reduce the damage taken by each allocated hit and critical hit by 1; so 1 hit and 1 crit at a damage profile of 2/4 would do instead 4 damage instead of 6, effectively making the attack 1/3 instead thanks to the reduction (even if its not actually wrotten like that the overall effect is the same). Of course you react when targeted so you need to decide before your opponent attacks if they are likely to kill with their normal damage and then react accordingly.

  • @CGOLAN

    @CGOLAN

    No my friend, the effect is to subtract from the damage token pool. If a target fighter is still alive it serves the purpose of reducing the damage taken. It is as simple as Slippery reaction. Without any philosophy involved: just apply the effect after damage is allocated.

  • @CGOLAN

    @CGOLAN

    @@ducdusang You might be right about that observation with a "remove" vs "subtract" distinction - Thanks. Such an interpretation makes a different conclusion and the reaction seems to be stronger. "Once the damage of an attack action has been determined, the damage is allocated to the target fighter." example: a fighter declared a reaction, attacker with weapon 1/3 rolled {5,2,2}, now you need to subtract but a "minimum of 1" should be a result.

  • @OffMetaMusings

    @OffMetaMusings

    Overall the effect is the same no? if i roll a hit and a crit for 2/4 damage with the reaction in play the final outcome is to allocate 4 damage. Ofcourse if the fighter is alive then the reaction has done its job and reduced the damage but you have no way of knowing for sure if any attack will kill any fighter before the dice are rolled.
