Terrific lesson! That’s going to, and probably already has helped a lot of bass and guitar players. Just about everybody starts off squeezing the doo doo out of the neck..

I already knew because 1. I used to play the violin/viola; 2. As a teacher physics I understand the role of friction. But the way you apply this is new to me. Thanks.

Nice tip, but it depends on the insturment you play, because modern active guitars with preamp and lowered action are much easier to play, just a little pressure and you get clear tone... but if you put same pressure on, for example, fender precision you will need much more pressure to get same clear tone without buzzing. But anyway, I agree that you need to know exact amount of pressure needed to get clear tone on your bass, whether it's a precision or some modern guitar :)

i really understood ur advise about the pressure on the frets, but you did not place an example on how to speedup on ur bass !! obviously the less pressure the better you will play.

The sound of my fingers going down the strings bleeds through into my amp. How do i get rid of that?

hello Oavu! that's a really good question. i'm curious what other people do. but for me, i've found that steel strings make the most noise for me. so, i often will use nickel strings. steel strings for some reason, feel sticky to my fingers. so when i move along the strings, i often hear the noise more. nickel strings have a smoother feel for me and don't make that noise. i hope this helps!

@@InspireBass content is great. Just the bass volume or clarity of the notes need to be better to get the most out of it. Tks
