Why are you thumbing the 6string at the fifth fret A when you should be at the fourth fret?

Sure that would work. Just make sure whatever you play doesn't clash with the singer (the melody of the song) and you should be good.

I’ve Learned a version that doesn’t flow as well as I like. I’d be be very interested in an acoustic version.
