How to Play Dutch Blitz®
Let's be honest: Dutch Blitz® looks a little old fashioned. But it's fun and competitive and fast. Really fast. Think of it as very energetic solitaire, played against your family and friends. Get it? Goot. Buy the game and connect with Dutch Blitz® at www.dutchblitz.com/

This was the way that Mennonites could vent their repressed violent intentions! I always found it funny that this was a Mennonite classique, seeing as they are pacifists....
We read the instructions for our new Dutch Blitz but the kids were a bit overwhelmed. I showed them this video and it clarified all our misunderstandings. Thanks so much for making this tutorial.

I'm in my 50's and I've been playing Dutch Blitz for as long as I can remember. Our family loves this game and we probably play 2-3 times a month. The expansion pack was a great addition though I wish it would have been different symbols on the back for easier sorting. We do not count out cards for points, and don't track overall winners, first one to clear the pile of 10 wins the round. Also...we shuffle, and pass left for a round, and play (no shuffling once passed left), just lay out the cards. Then, shuffle, pass right, then 3rd round, 'hold' so you're playing your own shuffled deck.
Something that wasn't mentioned in this video, is that if everyone playing is stuck and cannot move, then take the top card of your "wood pile" and place it at the bottom of your deck. Then continue playing like normal!
My pal told me that her Hutterite family had annual Dutch blitz tournaments. fist fights were common
Dude, my family plays Dutch Blitz every single year at thanksgiving, and we have for over 20 years I think. It gets really intense, but it’s very fun, and something we all look forward too

We played this game all the time when I was a kid. I was at Barnes and Noble today and saw it for sale. I just had to buy it. Needed a little refresher.
can you stack a card from your post pile onto another card from your post pile? also lets say you only have one card left in your blitz pile and you free up one of the spots on your post pile, are you required to fill the open post pile spot or can you refrain from doing so in order to keep the game going and hopefully get more points in the shared dutch pile area
The fact that this video uses the word "Goot" - it deserves a like just for that.

Not trying to take away from what you said but if you read the box the cards come in it says it on it multiple times. I think the fact they all had on different dutch blitz shirts is even more impressive.

Thank you for the video ! It was really helpful. We enjoyed watching it !!
I really love this card game!!!
I love this video!! thank you guys, happy playing
Looks like so much fun, I wanna play or dance a polka!
I grew up playing Nertz which a friend who plays Dutch Blitz told me it's similar. It is, but I'm sticking with Nertz. Not only am I experienced with Nertz, but you only need a different deck of cards for each player and you can go as high of a player number as you have the space and decks of cards for... no expansion pack needed, etc
Does someone know the size of the cards, so I would buy some sleeves?

Thank you so much you explained it wonderfully. Thanks again❤
What happen if someone calls out BLITZ but other players have some spaces in their post piles? can they move cards from their blitz pile to complete it before count points? of all plays are invalid after BLITZ shout out?

Well what do you do in the pile when you have card you can’t put down?
@mauia88

Wait until you can put it down.
Are you allowed to start the game with all the cards in the post pile and blitz pile being the same colour? And if not, are you required to reshuffle and re-deal your start?

Hello Kristof, If that is how it shuffles out legitimately, then the hand can begin. You may want to make sure everyone is properly shuffling their respective decks. We occasionally have to shuffle each others' decks to assure a proper randomness. We take our DB very seriously! Hope this helps.

I have a question about the cards in your hand that I couldn't find in the instructions. So your counting off the cards in your hand in groups of 3. But what happens if the last cards in your hand are a group of 2 or even just 1. Do you flip it and play it? Or do you move the remaining cards back to the front of wood pile and continue to count in groups of 3?
@mauia88
3 жыл бұрын
Of course you can play it.
I have always played when scoring you only subtract 1, but is that wrong? Or are there 2 ways to play?

in the official rules, when a round is over, each card remaining in ur blitz pile is two points off (each)! but play however i want it’s for fun :)
What do they mean by Goot google says it means ditch? What are they trying to say?

I think it’s just phonetically how the Dutch accent says Good in English. They’re just being silly.
Video was very easy to understand.
I don’t understand why you would want to stack your post pile. Wouldn’t that just make it harder to get rid of everything?
@migueljohnson4301
2 жыл бұрын
It helps to eliminate the Blitz pile first and stop the game but ultimately can hurt in racking up points.
@icecreamqueen467
Жыл бұрын
If you are scoring though its not as helpful because you don't get the points for those. So I recommend only stacking if you aren't scoring and just playing wins.
Question... if there are only 2 players and both are stuck and no other cards can be played, what can you do? For example, can you reshuffle your wood pile deck to restart the game.
@kanoodles1140

What my family does is take the top card from the wood pile, put it at the bottom and then resume flipping

We play it fervently in Elmina, Ghana too! This card game is one of the many legacy's, left by the Dutch, when they closed up shop back in 1814. All the babes wrenched from their mothers breast and the multifarious family's torn asunder seems like a small price to pay, in hindsight, for this great card game!

Get it? "Goot" ?? ?? You say "Goed" very englishy, that's fine, but "Goot" means Gutter! making up your own grammar never works out well.
@raizin4908

Note that this card game comes from Pennsylvania Dutch people, a community in Pennsylvania who don't actually speak Dutch, but _Deutsch_ (i.e. German). So "goot" does not come from the Dutch word "goed", but from the German "gut".
