Just came across Carroms on a random video a few minutes ago - looks like a great game, I just wish more people played games like this these days.

@@zkin98 Its coming up as Carrom for me...but I've seen videos of the self proclaimed 'Carrom King' from India alright. He's pretty damn good. Must try pick up a board - I think it'd be a great drinking game. Theres another strategic board game - totally different - apparently played more so by elder Chinese folks where you have black pieces and white pieces and the goal is to aquire as much territory on the board as possible but I havent been able to remember the name of it for the longest time... EDIT: Found it, its called 'Go'. My kind of game - might be able to get an app on my phone for it I'd say, going to try now actually. Shall see if I can get one for Carrom too while I am it because I damn sure wont be able to find many people to play with me what with console culture. Makes me wonder what else is out there...any recommendations on board games like these would be really appreciated, thanks.

My sister and I played this game with our grandparents in the 1950s in Horicon, Wi . It was so much fun. I had forgotten about it. Makes me miss Grandpa and Grandma . They always played games with us.

Most likely you played crokinole or pitchnut, or pichenotte?I find i hard to imagine carrom being in WI unless your family was from India? I'f not, I'd be interested to know how that came to be where you lived.

I used to play this game when I was little with my friends! My dad just bought it and it came as an package last night. I'm so happy to play this again with my dad with my little brother!!! This game is a whole lot of fun.

1. The game's name is carrom not carroms. 2. The circular wooden bits are called coins, not carroms. 3. The big striking coin is called a striker. 4. The game continues till one player reaches 29 points or the end of the predecided number of boards. In case of the latter, the one with the most point wins. 5. The points are scored based on how many of your opponent's coins are still on board when all of your coins are already in. 6. The red counts as 3 points if you can cover it and win the board, but if the loosing player/team covers the queen, the 3 points are lost for that board. The rest of the rules vary widely, depending on the location.

we as arab play like what you said, but difficult to end the game if both players are good. It will take hours maybe one day to finish. Thus, the rules in the video are the correct one

If you asked me before today, if I liked the game of carrom, I would have asked 'which one?' When I was a child in grade school, (LA county in Calif. 1959) we had game boards that we were told were Carom board games. I appears there are a lot of games that have nothing to do with the game "Carrom" My favorite was called Maze, and was played by 2 -4 people with one colored carrom each. You had to work your way around the board going around a maze spiral with traps and penalty boxes that you had to avoid. You used a wooden cue stick to move the pieces. Another was shuffleboard with six pieces each and a cue stick, Also a square one with four circles on it and 4 pockets: you had to get one of your pieces into a circle with your cue stick before you could aim it at a pocket.(I think the playground teacher made that one up). The teacher said there were about 5 or 6 carrom boards out then, but we had only 3.... but... none of them were a carrom board!!!! For those of you who are arguing about the exact rules and scoring of the game, remember that most people learned from a different teacher and not a book on games. The game is not to be fought over but to be enjoyed, however you play it. Just check with your opponent about the different aspects of the game and agree to a set of rules for that game.

In India we use boric powder which is banned in Europe? In Europe they use some kind of spray but not boric powder..

If a player first sinks the red queen and then sinks one of the carroms and the mach continues but at the end the opposite player sinks all the carroms of his colour first. Then in these case who will win?

the winner is the one who pockets all coins despite who pocks the queen. Therefore, the player should pocket his colourd coins and keep the queen at last
