How To Play 'Blue Suede Shoes' - 1950s Rock 'n' Roll Guitar Tutorial (easy) - Jez Quayle
Музыка
In this tutorial I teach how to play a rhythm guitar version of Carl Perkins/Elvis Presley's classic rock 'n' roll/rockabilly song, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, in the original key of A. A song sheet containing the lyrics and chords I play can be viewed or downloaded from my songbook blog here: jezquaylesongbookhome.files.w...
If you'd like to learn how to play some of the riffs and licks that Carl Perkins used when playing this and other rockabilly songs, check out these other tutorial videos in which I teach how to play like Carl:
Tutorial #3: • Tutorial #3 - Rockabil...
Tutorial #7: • Tutorial #7 - Rockabil...
If you'd like to buy a copy of my chord songbook '50 from the Fifties', which contains 50 classic rock 'n' roll and rockabilly songs that can be played with just 4 easy open chords, then search for 'Jez Quayle' and 'Rock and Roll' on Amazon. Unfortunately, I can't provide a single Amazon link that will work all around the world.
If Amazon says 'out of stock', or you'd prefer not to use Amazon, you can also purchase the songbook from Lulu.com in paperback or as an eBook (pdf format). Here's the Lulu.com link: www.lulu.com/search?adult_aud...

There's a D at the end of the chorus after the E and before going back to A.

There are several common versions of the 12-bar blues chord progression. What you describe is a common variation. Back in the 1950s, however, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley used the version of the chord progression I describe in this video when playing 'Blue Suede Shoes'. Have a look/listen to this live version from Carl: kzread.info/dash/bejne/doaC29iIZLTVpbw.html ...and this live, Elvis version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p5-Zk6RpdtOvips.html Chuck Berry also tended to use this version of the chord progression.
muy buen video, congrats!

Hi Jez I just received your songbook today and I'm ready to start learning all those excellent rock n roll songs. Please could you tell me which program to you use to be able to make your strumming patterns with small arrows and biggers arrows in color. like the strumming pattern for Blue Suede Shoes that will greatly help me to remember the strumming pattern and in pratice also. Your help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Germain

I create those graphics using Paintbrush - the basic app that comes with Microsoft Windows.
I have your 50's Guitar book, do you have any other Books? With song timing and Tabs? Thank you for your hard work. Does your Daughter play full time as you do? (Weekends)

Hey Jez, are you coming out with a 4 chords book on ballads too???

A good idea, but ballads aren’t something I specialise in singing. I sing the occasional ballad, but I’m never that confident I do them justice.
