I'm going to cover this and alter the first line to "ain't no sunshine now hes gone..."
RIP. This is how I first found Bill.. I'm 26 but I got severely burned at age 11 in a gas fire and spent over 3 months in UVA burn ward. With several massive surgeries and skin graphs. During that time the doctors reluctantly allowed my dad to bring his guitar in to play and stuff. But my mom brought me a box of her old teenager stuff. It was mostly old vinyl records. And she told me about them individually, but of course we had no way to play them. But she said that she thought I would like Witherseven though at that time I was a metal head.. After I was allowed to go home I have metal rebar going through me and was bandaged up so much I literally had to "sleep" in a chair. And she then found her old record player. The very first album I ever heard on vinyl was a Greatest Hits of Bill Withers. I loved it so much. Anyways, I remember that so well. Bill really helped me get through the hardest time in my life so far. I honestly think those albums and Bill Withers specifically help me more than the oxycontin to ease my pain. I knew how to play this already, but needed a refresher. Thanks again to you Marty, i owe alot to him as well. This death hit me hard. I feel like in my cover, I should alter the lyrics to "ain't no sunshine now hes gone.."

I'm a 62 year old novice guitar player. I really like the straightforward teaching style and I like the song, so I'm working through this as best I can. Really enjoying the clear instructions and playing options Marty provides in these videos. Cheers mate!
Blown away how awesome this tune is. Thanks so much Marty. Great to see you back with your own page!
Just want to take minute to thank you for sharing your talent of playing and teaching! I'm a 69 yr old that played a bit in the seventies with four or five other guys getting together on weekends at each other's homes mostly country and bluegrass. I got away from it for nearly thirty years and picked it up when I retired three years ago. Fingers don't work as well and I was never much for bar chords but back to playing with some downloads and trying the techniques you teach! Your my fellow player in the evenings and help to get me to practice ( but should do more) ! Just wanted to thank you for making my retirement a little more enjoyable! 🙏👍
dude, every time I rush to the net to learn a song and a lesson pops up from you I am STOKED. best teacher anywhere. badass tune and ridiculously easy to sound cool playing it. thanks.
I love the fact that I can hear a song on Spotify. Think to myself that I want to play it. then I can go to KZread and there is always an in depth tutorial for the song. Personally I find them really useful as, while I can read tab, sometimes I just need to see it. For me your channel is the closest to an actual music teacher I have found. Thank you so much man
That "down up down up" thing you do REALLY pulled me through the first week of figuring out how to actually strum and use a guitar... It's so simple, it made it a lot easier to get familiar with everything. Thanks so much! also: you crack me up! hahaha "I know!" lmao

Hey, I really struggle to figure out the strumming pattern for this song. Is there a separate video for this?
Marty! You're the reason I learn and love to play guitar. I'm an ICU nurse and my job takes a toll on me. So after every shift I come home and turn on one of your channels or log on to GuitarJamz and play one of your lessons. You help me cope with stress through music. You are an exceptional musician and teacher. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do. You make a difference in more things than you know. -a forever fan of yours. Ps. Would love to learn the fingerpicking style behind the chords in Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles :).

Thank you so much Marty. I’m a few months into guitar and this time really sticking with it. I’ve been practicing every day and between you and the free version of Yousician and just persistence I’m feeling confident as ever and rockin it. I’ve watched many of your videos. And this one adds two new chords to my bank of chords making the a7 and a9, number 14 and getting way better at barring. Don’t have allot of money so I rely on many different ways to learn. Again thank you Marty keep inspiring. 💚
your videos always help me a lot. thanks for what you do.

Hello Marty, Just wanted to leave a comment giving thanks. I started just like everyone else...a complete noob! Your tutorials have helped me tremendously! Without ever taking a single lesson I am now (2 years later) to the point where I can easily pick up most songs within ten to twenty minutes. Keep the tutorials coming Marty!
Bill Withers has been one of my favorite artists since childhood. I loved your Lovely Day guitar lesson, and now I can easily learn this song to honor a legend
It's been 10 years of my youtube guitar learning journey and I'm still here listening and learning from this guy with the same amount of enthusiasm 💯 Lots of Respect Marty 💪

I'm 23 and I've been watching you since I was 16, you have taught me many many songs. Keep doing what you're doing brother, you are awesome!
Watch your videos all the time. Thanks for the lesson's, you're a very good teacher. I'm 68 years old and still learning. Have a good day.😊
I'm new to guitar playing and have used your lessons as a great way to build knowledge on different strumming, plucking, and strumming styles (along with new chords with each lesson). I have to say that as much as I enjoy most of them, this one seemed more rushed then usual and less step-by-step. There definitely isn't a lot to the song, which I get, but instead of pausing to practice a few things before starting up, I have to jump around a lot in this one to learn each piece. I do appreciate everything you have put on KZread and your website, so by no means am I putting your help down. I just wish this one was a little more focused to educationa nd less to your playing the song.
Marty I’ve finally got to sing and play with a band and they asked me to be the lead singer!! Oh the feeling was soo wonderful and unexpected that’s the amazing part
ThanX for all you do Marty. Im a disabled man going through a hard divorce. I needed something to keep me busy while I await my fate. I'm finding that your Channel has the best explained and thorough teaching methods thats allowing me to learn at least one song a day. Your choice of songs are right up my alley also. ThanX again Marty.
Absolutely love your videos! Your versions of these songs are easy enough to learn and yet have enough of a flourish to make me sound better at guitar than I actually am :)
The pace felt a bit too fast, it would've helped as well to have the chords on screem for beginners. I'm a beginner myself and cant seem to play this song finger style.

You can just smoothly strum this with a pick. Just make sure you get the strum and rhythm in the r&b style. What makes the song is the bass line E,G,A. The bridge is Em Dm then back to Am...
Man, that guitar has a great sound.
RIP Bill Withers amazing talent and great voice. This is my next song to learn and u definitely make it easier to learn guitar, so thank u Marty
I just can't enough of Marty.! Thanks for the lesson on a song I've wanted to rip for a while.!

Marty man you're the best, I've been trying to learn guitar on and off for the better part of 4 years, and you've been one of my most favorite channels to go to. I have a hard time keeping up practicing because of college, but whenever I have time to sit and watch a Marty video its always a treat
Great job here with Marty Music man, thank you! Could you teach us the john mayer version of this epic song?
Your videos are very informative without any unnecessary confusing explanations. I always learn something from your lessons. Great choice of tunes. Awesome!
Definitely glad you are back. just started learning with your videos last year. great way to get started, so thanks!!
i think anyone thinking about picking a guitar up no matter what age u r btw, i will always recommend Marty great teacher for begginner/intermediate, once you have a few lessons out the way that spark of creativity ignites and there's no limits i know we all put immense pressure on ourselves as musicians whether you can play 3 chords or 300 u r by definition a musician don't let anyone tell you otherwise, if i could give sound advice i would tell a young guitarist not age related either, to go bk to where it started is the blues, no matter what genre of music you plan on pursuing stick a Robert Johnson record on or rl Burnside Mississippi hillside country blues obviously Robert was Delta blues and was taught by an old timer by the name of Ike vennaman if i have the name correct I'm not one for googling info there's a ancient script they call books that the upcoming generation do not and will not use, devil blues great myth tho, I've just realised i had more to say Han I thought, I'm getting old you see lol gracefully

Greetings Marty, I have a HUGE request for a tutorial lesson as I’m not finding a decent one anywhere on KZread. This is a song that almost anyone will recognize and I find it’s one that a solo artist could really have some fun with a live audience. Ok, here’s my request and it’s a doozy ! Could you please create a finger-style tutorial for the Pink Panther Theme song in the Harry Mancini style ? This will be a bit of a challenge for me but so worth the effort as it will raise my playing abilities along with knowing how to play such a great tune ! Thanks in advance
Thanks Marty! Even though you didn't explain a lot, there's a lot to watch and with a bit of reverse-reverse-reverse I learned a lot. Best tutorial on this song I've found.
Thank you for all these great videos 🙏. I just started playing this year. Your videos help me appreciate the art of learning and playing music without over analyzing what I'm doing. Thanks for keeping it fun Marty.

Ain't no sunshine is my favourite song of all time. R. I. P Bill. Thank you.
You are awesome! I've seen many of your videos over the years when I randomly feel the need to learn a song and you seem to always have a tutorial for what I'm looking for, and you're really good at showing how to do it slow first.

I just noticed you posted this six years ago and here I am a true blue follower liking it today 2020 and I am an old rocker. Song is about interpretation and what you give us is the raw bones and we just put the muscles and veins and structure around it and make it our own. Thanks for being there man through all the years 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤟🏻🤘🏻✌🏻

I have been learning guitar from you since 2011. Thank you for your easy explanations and demonstrations!!! Ain’t No Sunshine is another great tutorial! Thanks!
Great teaching techniques and solid chops!!
I know you are not a signer, but just saying the words as you play would have been very helpful.
Good lesson. Though why not teach the way he plays it? Its no harder and sounds like the record.
Marty, You had a previous version of this song. In the video you weren't teaching, just performing an acoustic cover of the song and is was AWESOME!! I haven't been able to find it for a long time. I know it is a long shot typing this request but could you please re-post it or tell me how to find it. It was truly AMAZING and should remain in you tube archive history forever. Good work and thank you for all your efforts, you have taught me so much.
Love your videos. You make them easy to follow. Always look forward to the next one
Didnt know jonah hill could play the guitar
This was a messy and confusing tutorial. Very chopped up
Hey Marty... just wanted to tell you am still tuning into Marty Music as my go to channel as I move up from beginner to something north of that. (After 8 months). What’s great is the selection of songs, the visibility and explanation but also the pace of each a session. Spot on!
Thanks for the help with this song and Bill Wither's feel on guitar.
Thank you so much for your great energy and fun way of breaking down riffs and chord structures. Marty, You're great and I really appreciate how much you have improved my playing and repertoire. Keep it up!
