RIP. This is how I first found Bill.. I'm 26 but I got severely burned at age 11 in a gas fire and spent over 3 months in UVA burn ward. With several massive surgeries and skin graphs. During that time the doctors reluctantly allowed my dad to bring his guitar in to play and stuff. But my mom brought me a box of her old teenager stuff. It was mostly old vinyl records. And she told me about them individually, but of course we had no way to play them. But she said that she thought I would like Witherseven though at that time I was a metal head.. After I was allowed to go home I have metal rebar going through me and was bandaged up so much I literally had to "sleep" in a chair. And she then found her old record player. The very first album I ever heard on vinyl was a Greatest Hits of Bill Withers. I loved it so much. Anyways, I remember that so well. Bill really helped me get through the hardest time in my life so far. I honestly think those albums and Bill Withers specifically help me more than the oxycontin to ease my pain. I knew how to play this already, but needed a refresher. Thanks again to you Marty, i owe alot to him as well. This death hit me hard. I feel like in my cover, I should alter the lyrics to "ain't no sunshine now hes gone.."

Just want to take minute to thank you for sharing your talent of playing and teaching! I'm a 69 yr old that played a bit in the seventies with four or five other guys getting together on weekends at each other's homes mostly country and bluegrass. I got away from it for nearly thirty years and picked it up when I retired three years ago. Fingers don't work as well and I was never much for bar chords but back to playing with some downloads and trying the techniques you teach! Your my fellow player in the evenings and help to get me to practice ( but should do more) ! Just wanted to thank you for making my retirement a little more enjoyable! 🙏👍

So after every shift I come home and turn on one of your channels or log on to GuitarJamz and play one of your lessons. You help me cope with stress through music. You are an exceptional musician and teacher. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do. You make a difference in more things than you know. -a forever fan of yours. Ps. Would love to learn the fingerpicking style behind the chords in Seven Bridges Road by The Eagles :).

Thank you so much Marty. I’m a few months into guitar and this time really sticking with it. I’ve been practicing every day and between you and the free version of Yousician and just persistence I’m feeling confident as ever and rockin it. I’ve watched many of your videos. And this one adds two new chords to my bank of chords making the a7 and a9, number 14 and getting way better at barring. Don’t have allot of money so I rely on many different ways to learn. Again thank you Marty keep inspiring. 💚

I'm new to guitar playing and have used your lessons as a great way to build knowledge on different strumming, plucking, and strumming styles (along with new chords with each lesson). I have to say that as much as I enjoy most of them, this one seemed more rushed then usual and less step-by-step. There definitely isn't a lot to the song, which I get, but instead of pausing to practice a few things before starting up, I have to jump around a lot in this one to learn each piece. I do appreciate everything you have put on KZread and your website, so by no means am I putting your help down. I just wish this one was a little more focused to educationa nd less to your playing the song.

i think anyone thinking about picking a guitar up no matter what age u r btw, i will always recommend Marty great teacher for begginner/intermediate, once you have a few lessons out the way that spark of creativity ignites and there's no limits i know we all put immense pressure on ourselves as musicians whether you can play 3 chords or 300 u r by definition a musician don't let anyone tell you otherwise, if i could give sound advice i would tell a young guitarist not age related either, to go bk to where it started is the blues, no matter what genre of music you plan on pursuing stick a Robert Johnson record on or rl Burnside Mississippi hillside country blues obviously Robert was Delta blues and was taught by an old timer by the name of Ike vennaman if i have the name correct I'm not one for googling info there's a ancient script they call books that the upcoming generation do not and will not use, devil blues great myth tho, I've just realised i had more to say Han I thought, I'm getting old you see lol gracefully

Greetings Marty, I have a HUGE request for a tutorial lesson as I’m not finding a decent one anywhere on KZread. This is a song that almost anyone will recognize and I find it’s one that a solo artist could really have some fun with a live audience. Ok, here’s my request and it’s a doozy ! Could you please create a finger-style tutorial for the Pink Panther Theme song in the Harry Mancini style ? This will be a bit of a challenge for me but so worth the effort as it will raise my playing abilities along with knowing how to play such a great tune ! Thanks in advance

Hey Marty... just wanted to tell you am still tuning into Marty Music as my go to channel as I move up from beginner to something north of that. (After 8 months). What’s great is the selection of songs, the visibility and explanation but also the pace of each a session. Spot on!
