Update: if using JELOS or ROCKNIX with PortMaster for this game, and your ABXY buttons are swapped, you can hover over the game in EmulationStation and press the X button to choose "Advanced Game Options", and change the button configuration to "Xbox" to match the original controls. Thanks to everyone for the tip! Also, there seems to be issues with Google Pixel phones right now, it displays a black image on the screen. Try using the “CRT disabled” option when building the apk to see if that helps! Finally, there have been new updates to the Android apk maker almost daily at this point. If you want to rebuild a new apk to take advantage of these updates, you can do so, and then install the apk again. It will be detected as an update by your Android device and update the app without affecting your save games. I expect it will be a similar process if and when an update to the Balatro.exe file happens. Hey, your app worked just fine getting the game into the apk. But on my android handheld (Odin 2), the game isn’t called Balatro. The apk shows balatro.apk, but when installed it shows “LOVE for Android” with a heart icon. The game loads up just fine though. Any fix for that?

At least that’s my experience as I’ve been working in the legal system for more than a decade. I’m referring to waiting in the jury room while you wait to get picked for jury duty. All I did was play Chrono Trigger meanwhile lol.

Quick question, how do you update the game with postmaster? Do the save files still work when game is updated? Games like Balatro get balanced and add new content often. Is it simply reinstalling again and keep the same save files? Great guide, going to try to run in on my RGB30, looks great on there.

I too have been playing alot of Balatro on my steam deck and switch. I got it to work on my Android and a Anbernic RG353PS. It is cool that it runs but the text is just to small on the RG353PS. Great video as always!

Does anyone know how to transfer your steam save to the mobile apk? I can find the spot where the save file is located, but my phone won't let me transfer files into the saves folder on the apk when installed...

How does the Android APK version compare to the Switch version? Is the UI better sized on the APK? The Switch Version font etc is a little small.

Off topic, but I'm so tempted by the Odin 2. A snapdragon 8 (gen 2 no less) at that price - seems crazy good value. Just concerned about taxes and hidden fees. They don't seem massively clear on that until you actually buy the thing.

I think the reason why this was possible and came out so quickly is due to the lua engine love2d already being available for android. I think the developer has extracted the balatro code and packaged it together with this already available engine into an android apk package. There is actually a celeste for android that was created the exact same way but unfortunately the result isn't nearly as comparable to the original and it hasn't seen any development for ages.

There is a hollow knight android port already done by some dude, but its pirated if your okay with getting it. It has controllet support to.

Hey Russ 😊 have you tried Balatro on RG35XX H with Knulli? I naively used your tutorial and was suprised seeing it actually boot up. However all face buttons are swapped as well, and also shoulders and triggers and analog sticks are not working. And the text ist reeeeally hard to read. If you happen to know a fix for the buttons that would be appreciated, but I will also look into it myself. Cheers!

Worked great on my RGB30 for the first session, had sound and it was great. When fired up for a second session it didn’t have sound. Other portmaster ports did, I uninstalled and reinstalled Balatro… auto was great again and working fine. Closed and opened, no audio. Anyone have an idea on what’s happening? Bought from Steam today if that matters, no sea surfing

Hm, I would suggest to make sure that you have your PM updated (there are 2 update checks), before you browse for it. PM is very much a living thing and things get fixed often. So every time you open it for new ports, check for updates. Otherwise thumbsup.

Does Batocera Ports work the same as PortMaster ?

I think the dev provided some suggestion on how to tweak the config file so that the portmaster button mapping can be changed. I’m too lazy to do that so I just adjust myself mentally. 1 thing to note, I did it on RGB30 too and performance leave a lot to be desired.. I might try that on retroid pocket 3+ though

Turns out I needed to disable the CRT shader when running the script. Everything is good now!

I just tried it out on mine and play was fine for me, except it seems to be a little sluggish. Might see if I can tweek something. I'm still new to emulation.

Will there be a way to move the Steam Remastered Tomb Raider Trilogy over to handhelds devices as well? I have my disc imported ps1 copies put on my handhelds, but I feel like this Steam version I'm now playing, is now the definitive way to play them. Even better than the Android ports of 1 and 2 as well as OpenLara in my opinion.

No. The only reason porting Balatro is so easy is because the game is written in Lua with the Love 2D engine and is not obfuscated or encrypted at all.

If the linux port supports auto saving then I wonder if puling over a save file as well would allow you to skip the tutorial.

Anybody know if I should get the steam deck OLED 1TB or the ROG ally z1 extreme??? I'm stumped. Biggest thing for me is emulation for games like Tenkaichi 3 and others from that era. But not limited to those games. Anyways I'm stumped about what one to invest in. Because I know both devices shine better in certain areas

Might be worth holding off. The dev is testing a major update to the game, so it might be worth waiting for that to release. I have three different ways of playing this game on my Odin 2 (this apk builder, yuzu, and moonlight) but I mainly play through moonlight to continue progress on my PC version that I also play on my Steam Deck (though I have the OLED model so I try to limit how much I play on that)

If you play with the wavy screen effect enabled in the game settings there shouldn't be any risk of burn in on the oled as far as I know

@@Bluthunderxphos there's still a lot of pixels that aren't changing, and oled burn-in is cumulative. It doesn't have to happen all at once.
