Super helpful stuff here. I feel less anxiety starting a hard mode play thru t ha is to these videos. I started on easy but didn’t expect it to be THAT east. So I have a steeper hill to climb in terms of acclimating myself to the rhythm of normal and hard.

@@BltzZ Btw, just out of interest, what are your thoughts on the Skill Master materia on Tifa? Do you find that she's fast enough already that she doesn't really need to purposely rotate her moves to proc Skill Master all the time, or is it more a case of personal preference?

I think she is fast already and skill materia is so hard for me to mentally prepare myself to use on tifa haha I always use the same two moves back to back and skill master requires you to use 3 unique moves. I think if you are actively going for it and set your playstyle for it, it can work for sure. But maybe it would be better if you have Gotterdammerung plus refocus for 3atb bars. Dude I'm going to have to finish this Barret guide tomorrow. My new favorite combination in this game is Melee Barret with pincers + Enemy skill(Algid Auda) + HP absorb! He's a beefy Tank and cannot be killed it's insane I spent so much time just mauling mobs over ahaha

I feel the same way! I just can't get into other games ever since I played this game.. It feels evolutionary.. Everything about the game, from it's mechanics to it's storytelling is just so well refined.. It's unbelievably good!

It's too much fun and trying out new materia combinations is just sooo interesting for me. It offers a lot of replay value

Tifa and Cloud's ground combat is precisely why I adore the fighting system in this game. Air battles are indeed absurd, but since it's not that prevalent in this game. I didn't mind it too much.

Yeah plus Barret can nuke them easily in the air anyways. I love tifas air combat in chi level 3 I forgot to mention that in this video haha but it's in the original tifa guide. The combat for Cloud and Tifa are so satisfying!

Tifa has crazy long combos in the air when you are in chi level 2 or 3. Level 3s long combos consistent of crazy dbz aerial fighting moves and a sick overhead fist bash at the end haha try it out on a flying enemy it's beautiful. Just wish the tracking was better

It's crazy how she was always my favorite character and now even moreso they did her justice in this game! The combat is just crazy wild. The amount of crazy stuff you can pull off in this game is cool..I have an advanced Barret guide talking about the sickest setup. Enemy skill with HP absorb

Yup! I hope we can remove cloud from the party and fully customize it. I'd love if they did what ff10 does where all party members are available in fights! But you're absolutely right my main team would have to have cid in it. I just keep thinking about those jumps in ff14 haha

Absolutely fantastic video, thank you. I was so intrigued that I had to pause midway through to test out what I’d learned. I’d been really struggling with using Focused Strike and Overpower, and wasn’t really building stagger effectively with them. Focused Strike + Deadly Dodge (bonus HP absorb) was a revelation, as was Overpower finishing with Tifa’s combos depending on her chi level. Seeing Tifa’s combos broken down was fantastic, too, as previously her combos had become an overwhelming blur. Now I can see where her x8 combo finishes, and where her final combo chain finishes. Tifa had been my favorite character to play as, but I hadn’t known how use her effectively outside of stagger - this video was a revelation, truly. After experimenting with what you suggested, everything about her move set clicked into place, and the newfound flow to Tifa’s combat was a joy. Thank you for this highly detailed Tifa vid, along with the Cloud Advanced Guide. I’m looking forward to Aerith and Barrett’s Advanced Guides, too. Superb work.

She makes this game play much different for me. Soon as I unlocked her during my first play through I took so much time to understand her because I was blown away by her kit. So early on you could tell the potential was crazy. Especially if you understood what unbridled strength did for her!

But oddly enough I feel like the ff7 mobile version builds limit break much faster than the original. I have to double check to clear my mind haha

Vincent's my favorite character in the entire series! I've been so hyped for the next game already. Just imagining blasting enemies with my pistol with the metal arm, Vincent's hair and red cloak flying as I run and dodge, transforming into demons like his LB's are mini-summons. How will he NOT be awesome? Still hyped for Nanaki and Yuffie combat too. She was sorta lame in the original, throwing a giant wheel lol, but she should be awesome with chakrams, kicks, and flips. A combo of FFXIV's Ninja and Dancer could be amazingly fun. I don't even know what to expect from Nanaki! So hyped just for combat alone XD

Great idea for a video. Maybe even predicting story elements. “How many timelines will there be? Can we make the original happen? Does the affection stat (who you date) affect who Seph kills? Will it be your most affectionate or least?

You’re at it once again man! I’d like to think I do a decent job at using her but seeing other suggestions like this can really help inspire ideas I would’ve otherwise never have thought about. Also I’m willing to bet you’ll reach that 10k mark before the day ends!

When I was a child I learned how to read well from pouring over the old paperback strategy guides they would pump out for ps1 / ps2 games, and it was exciting to learn / study to optimize a game. Now we have the 7 remake and it's as if youtube is the remade version of those old study guides.. I used to use this website gamefaq a lot to help out with strategies and guides etc. Gamewinners as well for secret cheats and Easter eggs with metal gear lol. It's one of the coolest looking cancels in this game! Soon as they're pressured I am spamming it! Reminds of in Advent children when cloud at the end is fighting and does omnislash and how he dashes around the screen.

I had no idea that Overpower acted as a shortcut to her combo finisher at level 2 chi. Super helpful! The only thing that wasn't highlighted here that I'm aware of is her Deadly Dodge attack chain that differs depending on her chi level. At level 3 she does an honest-to-God Street Fighter Ryu/Ken spinning kick (whatever it's called)! I didn't discover this until the Jenova fight!

Their friendship feels great and seeing them in battle and in cutscenes interacting is a dream come true from the childhood longtime fan in me

I also recommend the Transference Module as an accessory for Tifa. She blows through so much ATB so fast that you're almost always guaranteed a limit break, even in relatively short fights.

I plan to make a whole video talking about the potential fighting styles of Cid, Vincent, Yuffie, Caitsith and Red 13. I'm a dragoon main in ff14 so I can't wait to see what cid can do! I hope he has the wildest and craziest jumps we ever imagined. Red 13 could be a shaman or Red Mage build. Yuffie is definitely a ninja but could have some dancer abilities too! Oh man!

It's a godsend on her because she can't counter or mitigate damage as easy as other party members. So with her she can be a crazy speed demon!

Just want to say that this is such a very well done and well explained video and on Tifa combat system and advance play. While many people can make these video's there is always a lot in the details left unexplained or not properly explained. But many the details are so well explained here that it makes the video that much more awesome, relevant and important in playing the game and for maximum enjoyment of character. I just want to highlight the part where you explained the Materia and how Parry works on Tifa. I had no damn idea that it was different on each character and the details of how Tifa executes and slides. You gave these details time to explain and well importantly demonstrate for us to see and importantly visually understand. These kind of things elevate a video and understanding to make it more awesome a video. Thus you do pay attention to the details and in explaining things and just awesome. Thus i decided to Sub as well. Excellent job man, well done and continue to pay attention to explaining the details or demonstrating it.

Another great guide man! I really enjoy Tifa's combat disegn aswell, and she's absolutely my favourite when it comes to one on one fights. Speaking about her weapons tho, I must say I really like the Feathered gloves too but I used them only in the Shinra Combat Simulator or in Chadley's battles, cause you have mp recovery. During hard mode ng+ I always used Sonic strikers cause casting curaga for 9mp is a great help. About her build instead, I always make sure she carries a Time materia: Haste is incredible for her combos and you can also use Stop on staggered enemies to freeze the stagger bar aswell! Can't wait for your next videos, keep up the good work!

Ayyye I see you man! I love that more people are using the stop materia! Yeah definitely need that MP in hard mode it's crazy valuable. On hard mode you definitely wanna have a magic friendly and MP build. The reduced costs to healing really are a game changer

This reminds me of the old days when I played Tempest and Windwalker in Dragon Nest... nice!

For Tifa: I also use feathered Gloves but I also forgo the ATB Assist and Steadfast Block instead opting for a full Warding Materia + Time. This enables Tifa to never be slowed or Stopped as this usually breaks my momentum in battle as well as usually cast haste on herself pretty much when every battle starts.

Yay, ATB Stagger and ATB Assist! :D I do map Unbridled Strength unto Triangle because that's the same button for spending Chi on Rise and Fall and Omnistrike; L1 + Triangle to build Chi, Triangle to spend Chi. Pretty intuitive, at least for me. I also put the Time Materia on Tifa because not only does it let her Haste herself, it also synergizes with her great Staggering ability by letting her pull off the Stagger-Stop combo. Not sure if you've covered this in your previous videos, but casting Stop on a Staggered enemy freezes the Stagger bar, giving you more time to build the damage bonus percentage. Another thing I like to do with Tifa is to give her the Refocus Materia, and pair it with the Clarity Pendant accessory. When she uses the Refocus LB, she gets a full bar of 3 ATB charges immediately as well; that can really turn the tide of a battle. And together with Haste and Tifa's natural ability to build ATB fast, it's crazy how she can bust out her abilities near-constantly.

Tifa is a monster in this game and it's amazing to see how many different combinations you guys come up with I enjoy reading about them while also improving my builds with it as well. watching your guides does not spoil the fun in playing FF7R rather enhances it. Your guides are truly stimulus for me to explore and create my own combat setup. For example, sonic striker is actually my favourite Tifa's weapon coz it's fast and enables me to use many more abilities during the game (still in my 1st playthrough).

So by default tifa is in chi level 1, you unbridled strength 1 time to go to chi level 2 so you have access to more combos and omnistrike. Then you chi level again and get to chi level 3 with rise and fall and max combos. You should only activate unbridled strength a max of 2 times. Anything more doesn't do anything but refresh the timer of how long it lasts. Hope this helps!

Yup! If you have magic ups more leveled up unlike me you can put crazy tick damage with this build. It's a really fun ability that I wouldve never expected to be in her kit haha

Dude, I feel ya when it comes to the Purple Pain. The same thing happened to me on my first playthrough. I knew a cool weapon for Tifa was coming, and it had the True Strike ability. Was very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I past right by it. By the time I realized, it was long behind me and I couldn't go back to get it. Guess that's what chapter select is for. At least it's early on in that chapter. A materia combo I love using for Tifa is a linked pair of Deadly Dodge & HP Absorb. You get a special set of 3 (I think it was three) whirling kicks with about 5 to 7 hits. With the HP Absorb materia paired, all of those hits restore a small amount of HP. With your technique of canceling out of Focused Strike with a dodge, you could potentially restore a fair amount of health. Just throwing this in here: One of my favorite combos is: Overpower > Focuesed Strike> Attack once for the diving split kick > Hold the attack button for the Rising Uppercut > Finish with Divekick. Looks cool AF. GRATZ on 10K!!!!

That's a great combination I was trying to level it up so i could include it in a build, But i decided to leave it out and talk about it in another build! I am a new player to final fantasy 7 remake and I am also really enjoying Tifa. But I usually like balanced builds for all characters. My damage maybe not be super high but everyone has something for the right situation. So essentially all my characters are Jack of all trades. So I enjoy purple pain on Tifa just to get a little healing some casting and my absolute combo of chi trap and star shower.

So one of my favorite materia combo for Tifa is HP absorption and deadly dodge. I basically do the first build you mentioned and just focus strike and deadly dodge to pressure them and keep my health healed. I’m not sure how practical it is but I use it all the time lol

It can be really good in regular enemy fights but for bosses I think the heals aren't enough most of the time

I Never was good with materia setups, but feel pretty happy we playing Tifa pretty similar, especially Feathered Gloves wise (honestly, best glove style, to me). Honestly gonna be helpful when getting around to finishing hard while waiting for rebirth. She's my favorite character in general in the game, and sooo looking foward to playing her in Rebirth too. Was super satisfying practicing and then getting 300% stagger with her for the first time XD

HP Absorbtion linked with deadly dodge, and if you really wanna get buck wild with her combos replace first strike and steadfast block with skill master and refocus and make sure to have transference module equipped as her accessory.

I love doing that as well! Add deadly dodge to the mix to increase her damage output if you have the space when you get more materia slots! It's really good on her as well. True strike is going to change the game just make sure you don't miss the weapon like I did! Had to beat the game then chapter select to get it haha

Love this build! Tifa is my absolute favorite. For some reason, I don't have 6 slots for materia on my feathered gloves even though I have unlocked all the "new materia slots" in the upgrades for the weapon. I only have 5, so I cant run this setup 😞

Sure it got me pretty far, I just got that Ultimate Weapon trophy, but without these next level strats, I think it was harder (and less fun) than it needed to be. Ive always loved how materia changes up and adds variety to gameplay with tifa there are many combinations for sure but the must have ones are just soooo good

This might be the best setup I've seen for Tifa by far. BltzZ. I'm going to be attempting to take on the 3 person team vs. Top Secrets fight soon. I'd love for you to share your recommended setup for it. I think it would really help a lot of people out with possibly the toughest challenge in the game.

Definitely have a maxed elemental materia plus fire as you pairing to absorb when ifrit comes out at the end. And it seems like Aeriths can really bring on the pain with her magic staggering enemies. I'll take on that challenge soon and make a video for you guys!

Excellent content, lots of details but not complicated to understand. I've been working on a crit hit build for Tifa, damage is pretty crazy.... Gave her the chocobo summon too for extra luck stats

I had it on her for when Ifrit got summoned, all other materia was either for her HP or ATB charge generating. Gotterdammerung with refocus, skill master and atb boost was the key I think.

Awesome job, man! I'm finding she's usually my go to controlled character. Took your advice w Cloud and went mythril Saber black mage build. That way his ATB block with steadfast chains into HUGGGE nukes while Tifa builds the stagger and Barret tanks like a boss

If it's ranged I duo with Barret and Tifa because tifas air combos are OMG. But regular enemies I choose tifa and cloud because clouds AOE and triple slash destroys mobs while tifa locks people down with her pressure and chi traps!!

@@christaggart5687 I switched it up, depending on the chapter. Usually my Cloud is melee heavy on hard mode due to his counter attack mechanics

Pro tip: Starshower's damage buff only applies to the next Ability/Triangle Attacks/Limit Break if it's cast IMMEDIATELY right after Starshower. To be safe cast the next Ability or Limit Break using shortcuts or slowmo/tactical mode while Starshower's animation is still playing so the buff is guaranteed to apply to the next attack

I absolutely LOVE that you went over every single tree for every single weapon, I dig the hell out of that! I do have one quick correction tho. Her Elemental Materia 10% buff does not increase the damage of her spells. It simply increases the damage that her physical attacks will do when equipping her weapon with the Elemental Materia and a Magic based Materia that adds that element to her attacks. So if you have the Elemental Materia maxed out it will increase the Elemental damage from 23% to 33%. Just thought I'd point that out. It's still a great ability as she is the best character to have that Elemental Materia on when you know what elemental weakness your upcoming foes will have.

This advanced guide is fantastic. You nailed it dude. You were asking about more advanced setups, so here's mine. Hardmode 'Desperate Striker' build Weapon: Purple pain (maxed) Materia: Luck 2x (maxed) Elemental+ Fire/Ice/Wind ect (maxed) Binding Materia (maxed) Atb stagger (maxed) Accessory: Fury ring Against elemental weak enemies, chi 3 and low hp, pressure the enemy and just before stagger, use Berzerk into Starshower, and this will transition most of SS damage with the stagger multiplier. Immediately follow up with >True stike (9999 damage) >Rise and Fall(over 9999), >True strike (9999) >Omnistrike (9999) >Whirling into Divekick (over 9999) This is so over kill on normal but can be used in hard mode. Also another tip: Fury ring is a 28% boost to both PHYSICAL AND MAGIC ATTACKS

Awesome build it's really a desperate striker for real! Fury ring brings beserk and beserk raises attack but raises how much damage you take basically lowering defense. So it sounds right up my alley and fun haha

@@BltzZ For sure. Tifa definitely does take some insane damage (65% more) with this build but IMO it's the closest I have gotten to a minmaxed glass cannon (450% damage). For this setup, during stagger 1st true strike hits with a 40x multiplier from the attack stat. This is 4.5 times what true strike does vanilla So you really are getting the high risk high reward experience

@@BltzZ haha I know you're joking but there's some truth to how barrier builds don't have a high risk high reward feel. Speaking of survivability, I just want to point out that every time you double your defense stat, you get 10% damage reduction, times how many doublings have occurred. For example 57 is the lowest defense at max rank 50. Doubling it to 114 will reduce damage by 10%. Doubling it again to 228 would bring it 30% (first doubling 10% x1 + second doubling 10% x 2). As of right now, 228 is the highest def stat that can be achieved (by Barret ofc) using provoke/lifesaver with him when tifa is in red hp is really a great way to ensure her survivability. Another way is to give her shield with Aerith's limit break. Tifa (as well as the rest of the team) is immune to stun with shield buff

I'm only half joking haha tbh I'd rather play with riskier builds it feels more rewarding and gets the heart pumping. I love provoke on Barret it helps with those increased back attack damages

Nice video, I used the exact same stagger combo with Tifa. I love the focused strike + deadly dodge combo. A few things I'd like to mention though. 1. Parry is great for juggling, once you knock an enemy into the air you can attack them until they are about to land and cancel your attack by sliding into them to pop them back up, keeping them air-borne indefinitely. 2. I think first strike is a really bad choice for Tifa's speed build. With that set-up one ATB per fight is incredibly meaningless to her, you are using a materia slot to save a second of attacking. Why give Tifa such a small bonus when you could be allowing Cloud to open with a triple slash and have Barret/Aerith buff up? I'd recommend HP absorb linked to deadly dodge for a survivability buff instead, especially considering the combo with focused strike.

I appreciate the build advice I started using HP absorb today to level it up to use with deadly dodge it's almost at max now! I have first strike on tifa and cloud, I like it on tifa because incase she doesn't start off in chi level 2 I can throw it on really quick. But if she does then I get to go chi level 3 from the beginning. I prefer to use Barret over aerith and with Barret not having first strike I'm ok with because he starts off every fight with overcharge which gives him 1 full ATB when you use it on an enemy. So in a way he can start off with atb from using overcharge. Not to mention if tifa has no chi and she starts off with 2 atb I can unbridled twice and give atb to cloud and Barret both thanks to her having atb assist. Sorry for the long explanation I just wanted to explain what I was going for

and yeah tifa's dolphin flurry limit break is badass 😍🔥🔥

Awesome guide! Personally I wouldn't have steadfast block on Tifa as I think if you're staying still and blocking with her, you're not really playing to her strengths. On hard mode I'd swap it out for revive vs. bosses unless you're supremely confident no-one is going to die! Against normal mobs, I'd probably either link a HP absorption to deadly dodge to leech some HP while you're doing those combos, or just use chakra/prayer for some free healing that helps stretch out your precious MP on hard mode.

I have an even crazier use of HP absorb on a melee build for Barret that works with everyone in the cast! Be sure to check that advanced Barret guide out it'll blow your mind 😁! Yup I'd recommend switching to revive for hard mode. I have 3 steadfast blocks so I figure one on each character is enough to benefit on AI controls. With tifa I notice when you spam and move around with parry, any hits she takes counts as a block if you're holding R1. Need further testing but I've seen it occur haha

I like to use chi trap on sentries because it increases stagger quickly and they can't avoid
