How to Play Arpeggios on Piano: The Basics

Музыка

In this piano lesson, we will be talking about what an arpeggio is, exercises to master your arpeggios, and advice on how to practice your arpeggios. This is meant to be an easy beginners tutorial to introduce you to arpeggios and presenting how to develop a proper technique in playing them. You need to learn arpeggios since they appear in music all the time, they help us develop proper piano technique, and help us develop coordination. Like with scales, arpeggios should be an essential part of your practice routine.

Hi, I’m quite confused as I’m trying to learn a song called Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, in the song there’s arpeggio consisting of B F B and D from the bottom up in the bass clef. My problem is that the D is a minum unlike the other 3 notes that are semibreves. How would this be played exactly?

After I read it I still couldn’t understand what an arpeggio is. I watched your video and I have a much better idea. Thank you. The thing I find interesting and sad is that Jeanniepark in comments felt the need to tell you your background music showed your “immaturity”.?!?! How do you play an arpeggiated (wavy line) quarter note triad with the left hand while playing a quarter note with the right hand? More to the point, which note of the arpeggio is pedalled, the bottom first note or the upper last note? I'm guessing that the arpeggio is probably played very quickly in which case it might be the top note that actually comes together with the quarter note in the right hand. Does this sound right to you? I'm confused.

Thank You for this video. Is there any perfect fingering pattern to practice Arpeggios ? Or it depends on our comfortable fingering pattern? I mean to say during left hand practicing, most obviously the first note/tonic should be played with Pinky; is that necessary to play the next note with Ring Finger ? Or l can place my comfortable one(Middle/Index Finger) to play the next note?

You appear to be using your third finger most of the time but your sheet music uses 5-4-2-1-4-2-1-4 etc. You play these so fast I had difficulty following. Can I mix and match whatever feels comfortable on the left hand? I am enjoying your videos and this is one of many weak areas for me. Thank you

1 any note being played one at a time; the arrow represents the direction of the arpeggio, and signal notes represent arpeggio, 2 signal note played with left and right hand. 3 helps with the dexterity, function, and coordination. 4. Everyday, left and right hand together on the c scale.

So basically, right after playing arpeggios, if i try playing scales, my hands collapses and its all messed up, fingers are jumping further than usual and i need to go very slow on the scales for some time to get them back to my normal speed. Its frustrating and it gives me the feeling of regress. Is that normal at the beginning? Will it go away with time?
