    Hey, BlackRain, check out the microstakes at betonline and Ignition. They fold a lot quicker than these guys on your video, and only about 33% or so see the flop. They are dumber at betonline than Ignition, but you can win more money on Ignition because they come to the table with more money. In the microstakes at betonline, the average moron will have a stack of about 65 cents. Sometimes when they get down to about a quarter, they will actually play good poker until they get back over 50 cents.

    BlackRain, I forgot to say that I credit my phenomenal success in the micros to your book and your site. I think I got that book for free too, but I don't know if you sell it or give it away. If I should have bought it, please respond and I will certainly pay for a copy. I get the value of that book about every six or seven hours. Thanks.

    I think, all the lines in this video look pretty sharp. I definitly agree with the large isolation sizes against multible limpers, and with not wasting money on bluffing in multiway pots, especially when you are out of position, and your opponent are very close to pot commitment. One thing to note about C-betting AK on low boards is, that sometimes people will actually call with a worse hand, because they just dont believe you, they hate to fold, they have a gutshot, or whatever it might be. So its not really a clear valuebet, but its not really a clear bluff either. Its somewhere in the middle, and a bet, which I will often make, because its less bad than checking. Whereas if you have say JT on 822 board, its usually better to just say forget it and give up. Sometimes when they call, the hand will go check-check on both flop and river, and he will show KJ or QT. And then obviously you want to be there with AK and not with JT.

  • @oldmanyellsatscreen

    Great stuff, though one area you didn't cover was AK facing a 3bet. I'm wondering if AK should be a default-fold to a 3bet at 2-5nl (especially oop), since 3bet ranges are gonna be so tight from most loose passive players: maybe AK, QQ+ or even just KK+. But then I think "omg that's so weak tight!" Any thoughts on this?

  • @Nefferis

    @Nefferis

    9 жыл бұрын

    If you get a HUD, you'll see that most of the players actually have a bigger %age of 3bet than 0.6% (KK+). With AK you block combos of KK and AA and it's pretty hard to assign them that range. I think a 4bet makes a lot of sense with AK, especially if it's a steal war, even CO vs btn. Things change if you open UTG and a tight player 3bets, but still...

  • @oldmanyellsatscreen

    @oldmanyellsatscreen

    9 жыл бұрын

    Alexandru Golub Agreed: if I've opened AK from late position and get 3bet I'm not that worried. It's tougher to know the correct play when I open the LJ/HJ and get 3bet by a nitty or usually loose-passive CO/BU. None of my options seem great: Call without the lead oop, check/fold when I miss flop? Fold what is likely the best hand pre/ surrender a lot of equity. 4bet: What am I doing if he 5bet shoves? Calling? Folding? What if he's a "drooler fish" and calls? Is he folding to a c-bet or am I check/folding un-improved in a ~60bb pot? I like your 4bet suggestion, but it seems we're really doing so hoping for Vilain to fold pre, unless he's so aggro that we think he'll jam worse Aces and Kings.

    Appreciate this is an old vid, but do you think villain 14 in video 2 did anything wrong in this hand specifically? Do you think he should 4 -bet pre? 7x from you looks strong but as a thinking player it also smells of an isolation bet against UTG limp... If Villain 14 was a solid player (lets say 21/17 at 6-max) do you raise the same? Reason I ask is AQ I find hard to play sometimes... Also the flop onwards I guess both just want to get it in, so should he shove over the top of your C-bet? Love the content, cheers

    First hand. I think double barreling isn’t a bad play. Even if he has a pair, if you cbet 1/3 pot and he calls, the pot odds are 25%. We have 15 outs which equates to 33% odds of hitting, and many of those hits are the nuts. That alone makes it worth it if you know he’s calling. But we also have fold equity if he has unpaired Ax or Kx, which many fish do in that spot. And hell, he may even call this turn with those hands and the river blanks, it goes check check, and we win with high card. I guess the one scary thing is if he has AT, A9, KT, or K9 and the river brings him a two pair and we get coolered with our top pair top kicker. That makes me say the check back on turn isn’t a bad play, but still believe 1/3 pot bet is a good choice too.

    BlackRain79Poker sorry for my poor English What i meant was ''If you get /check-raised with TPTK in an uncoordinated board'' from a donk. It's auto fold situation? We are most of the time behind? We are facing two pair/set? You have mentioned in previous videos that a check-raise on the flop is most of the times easy laydown in micros. But is there any exceptions? Another example: If the donk ''donk-bets'' pot what we do with TPTK? I mean it is not that obvious because i've experienced that a lot of times and most of the times they hold 2-pair (like 84o for example in 84K flop) or absolutely nothing. They are level 0 players and they can hold pretty much everything.

    I know you commented this 5 years ago but I’ve just come across it and was wondering the same thing. Pot odds pretty much 33%. Does AQ have at least that here? I think probably. He could be making that bet with any Ace, especially if it’s Axcc. He could even be making that bet with Kxhh or Jxhh if he’s not afraid to semi bluff. AQ beats a lot of that. I don’t blame villain here at all. If it were a huge overbet that’s another story.

I've done this a lot and they still call when they have FD or a weaker TP .... because I get very mad when I make the potbet and then on the turn the flush completes and I have to act first ... it's kind of fucked up .

    This is a silly table. Try to play asian table, 9/9 ppl, ppl go all in almost every hands, 3 or 4 players are really big sharks, then, upload your video here if you can have some succes in long run. You face bingo that really annoying, you face sharks that is really a tough opponent. Go all in every flop? I saw this thing more than 100 times, everyday. I have 5 years experience under my belt in micro stakes asian table. I got success in long runs but i dont need to show how i can win something easy. Go call A 4 club, flop is 5 74 with 2 clubs, everyone raises, you got 3 clubs that completed your flush, everyone then go crazy all in..........i dont fold flush to A, the chip is 10 US $. In the end of the game...guess who win? 3 -4 off suits. You know what card is on the river if you play poker a lot.

    I played 5000 hands of Zoom today. TWICE I was dealt KK and faced a large 4 bet from a solid regular. Both times I knew I should fold rather than commit an extra 70 - 80 bbs. Both times I called. Both times I saw aces. I fold KK quite alot preflop. The bottom line is a winning player (according to stats), solid reg, or nit is not going to reraise your 3bet with anything less than AA. This would only leave AK, QQ, JJ, TT. Most solid players are not going to do this with QQ or AKs. But then again, some solid players jam AK, so this topic really confuses me. I'm still not sure what is best.

    Im struggling with the exact same thing in 2nl full ring, where I often lose a huge pot preflop or postflop by getting it in with KK against AA. I feel like AK and QQ, JJ, TT often just call your 3bet the majority of the time, leaving AA as the hand you will see 80% of the time when getting 4bet. I feel like unless you have some stats on your opponent, and see that they are an aggro fish, or a maniac, AA is the only hand you can confidently get in preflop. I seldom see fish go crazy preflop with any other holding than AA, since they are passive by nature, and will often call your 3bet instead of 4bet. So I'm learning to fold KK more often to 4bets. Even though it hurts. But it hurts more to lose 100bb every time against AA.

    Why you don't mention the sdv of AK? On 34T we can't fold any hand that beats us and we don't care to fold Ax and broadways because we beat them and they have very little equity against AK.

    is it even worth raising so much preflop with ak at these stakes? I think you shouldn't have to be worrying about not hitting the flop so much because you are raising too high before you even see it. The most value we are getting here is a fold from our c bet, and if we are pushing the donk to commit to the pot too heavily early that could hurt our value here.. It doesn't take a genius to see were folding and playing big cards, so when the flop comes low and we raised too big it will be obvious. Also the other main value from AK is stacking our opponents who make pair with a weaker kicker. As such we don't want to scare K-6 out of pot, as if he makes his top pair on the flop we are probably stacking him anyways

    I like when you fold when your AK doesnt hit the turn. That unnecessary call will just kill you. I know you are a good player, but try to play asian link poker. The money is crazy, so many fishes, but there are some kind of monster sharks too.

    I almost groan when I pick up AK; either o or s. Didn't realize the stat 1 out of 3 whiffing the flop. My normal 'whiff' is about 1 out of 5. I've learned to view it as the best connector; but it's still a connector.

    I am not trying to make fun of anybody. "Fish" is a common term we use in poker for less skilled players. I hope my videos help you though.

    Like the vids, just please don't say, "retarded" when he makes a terrible bet. Other words that are easy to use would be, "he makes a" ridiculous bet, donk bet, awful bet, rookie bet, terrible bet, useless bet, dumb bet, etc. So many different and intelligent ways to say that vs "retarded" Thank you!
