How To: Plate Load Resistor Replacement
In this video I demonstrate how to swap the plate-load resistors on a guitar amplifier. I'm working on a Marshall JMP, however the techniques I discuss can be applied to many amplifiers. This amplifier made a lot of noise when idle, crackling and popping.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN OPENING / SERVICING TUBE AUDIO EQUIPMENT. Potentially lethal voltages may remain stored in the capacitors for a long time, even when unplugged.

Background music is me noodling on the JMP after I replaced the resistors.

Haha, it is very easy to work on this amp. Try working on a mesa-boogie!

@@therockstudio I much prefer my vintage traynors....some of em you just take the lid off....don't even have to take the guts out and all the parts are right there practically social distancing they are so far apart :-p
Hoping it doesn't come to this for my amp 😬

It's really not too difficult, and you'll learn more about your amp, and feel more confident about repairing it in the future. Thanks for watching!
