''You can get away with planting them a bit closer in pots''... me hearing this after finally taking a look at our muscari patch and realizing that they've multiplied so darn much there's no earth left between the tightly clumped mass of endless bulbs! 😂

Hi Kate, muscari can spread rampantly when allowed! 😅 I'm sure your patch is stunning though 😍

Liked and subscribed 😊 Could you please tell me how often to water muscari in the pot? I have bought bulbs and they are flowering at the moment, so I’ll wait until they stop before planting them in the soil. Just don’t know how and when to water them…

Hi Ekaterina, welcome to BG 😀 I'm a bit confused, are the bulbs not in soil? If not I would wait until they finish their growth cycle (leaves turn brown, flowering is over) cut back the foliage and then store your bulbs over their dormancy period in a cool dark space around 12 to 18 degrees C until autumn comes and then plant them out. I wouldn't water them if they are not in soil or over their dormancy period but you can water once you've planted them.
I received a mascara plant in bloom for my birthday (early May) in a pretty small container. It's mid-May as I write this and the blooms are fading. What do you suggest I do with the plant? Can I move to soil now? Suggestions? Thank you!

Hi Bev, I actually hopefully have a muscari aftercare video coming this week but if you can't wait that long you can follow the instructions in any of my other aftercare videos and it's pretty much the same! 😀
What compost would you recommend for spring bulbs plz x

Hello, I normally just use a good quality peat-free multipurpose compost that has very good drainage. Drainage is key for growing bulbs successfully, if they sit in soggy soil for a period of time they could rot. You can also mix in some horticultural sand or grit at a ratio of around 1 part to 2 parts compost to aid drainage 🙂

Hi Riyon, first check for pests or diseases. If they look healthy, it could be because: spring flowering bulbs like muscari need to experience a cold period of temperatures no more than 7°C for around 3 months in order to flower properly. This is either done by planting your bulbs in autumn and letting the winter weather take over, or some people out them in their fridges and then plant out in spring. If your muscari haven't had this cold period that's probably why they're not growing fully. I would allow them to complete their life cycle (let the leaves photosynthesise until they turn brown) and then lift and store the bulbs over summer. You can then plant them in winter and hopefully you'll have a better display next season 😊

@@balconiagarden thanks for the valuable advice. I'll provide the bulbs a cold temperature and will notice further changes.

Hi Evelyn, I'm not sure to be honest, are there bulbs available to buy in garden shops? Either that or order them online, I'm sure you'll be able to find a company that ships to the Philippines. Hope.you find some 🙂
THERE ARE ABOUT A HUNDRED BABY BULBS SURROUNDING THE LARGEST AND SOME BABIES EVEN HOW GROWTH ALREADY. I PRESUME THE BABIES WILL GROW IF PLANTED, RIGHT? I ALSO PRESUME THEY SHOUD BE SEPARATED, RIGHT.
@balconiagarden

Hello, if the babies or offsets are large and have their own growth you can separate them from the mother bulb and plant them alone. If the offsets are still small.compared to the mother bulb just leave them on for a few more growing seasons until they bulk up.

@@balconiagarden Thank you for the information...I already threw all the babies in a pot to see if they would grow. Actually, some had a growth already. :)
