How to Plant Carrot Seeds Intensively | The Most Effective Strategies for Carrot Success

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Carrots are notoriously tricky to grow at home. Not because they're hard plants to care for, but because they're hard seeds to *germinate*. In this video, I'll plant carrot seeds for a fall harvest and show you exactly how to prep your soil, space your rows, plant those carrot seeds, and keep them perfectly happy until they sprout.
Join us and let's plant some carrots together!

@@marinarccisusm7116 In this case, I think fall leaves would be a mistake unfortunately. You don't want mulch really - they're not good at emerging through much of anything. Definitely recommend something you can easily look and under and remove entirely when germination begins. Sorry =(

Just wanted to say, I miss your informative videos and I hope you and yours are ok! Tbh carrots seem like more trouble than they're worth (for my small clay-y garden anyway) when they're so affordable at the grocery, but I watched the video anyway. Now I know what to do if I do ever want to try growing them! I do actually have some gifted seeds, so i just may next spring :)

Thank you so much for these kind words! We're working to get back into the groove of things making more videos after some curveballs =) I can easily see carrots going into the "not worth it" category myself, but they have the potential to be much better tasting homegrown. I think they're worth a try to see if the difference is worth it to you!

Excellent carrot video! I appreciate the heads up about faster germination in warm temperatures and slower germination in cooler temps. I experienced super fast germination back in July. I kept mine moist by spraying the surface every day with a spray bottle.

I’ve tried growing carrots this spring but no matter what I do, the soil dries out too much in Utah since the air is so dry. I was watering them twice a day with a cloth over them and the soil was still getting dry. I am currently trying to germinate them indoors to transplant and don’t care if they look weird, as long as they will grow!

My tomatoes are still green (they didn’t get the message that I want I try a fall garden for the first time), so I planted carrots in between. Just checked on them and gave some water. I’ll have to up my watering game and make sure they stay moist.

As a note for us old folks that can’t move around like you young people: Years ago I found taking wax paper and laying it on my kitchen counter then taking scott toilet paper misting it and putting the seeds on the toilet paper. I can space them properly then fold the toilet paper then mist again this prevents them from moving and if they do the furring strips, I place between the rows and leave until they sprout, keep them at least in a row in case of heavy rain.
