Hi Nick! Congrats on having this video sponsored by rePotme! I'm so glad you used a fish bowl for your terrarium! I've seen quite a few videos for making terrariums, but none with fish bowls, which is what I have. Yours turned out really pretty! I need to do one now, but need to figure out where to put it first. LOL! You explain things so well, too. I really like the bark you used for a top dressing and the addition of the crystal and rocks. Thank you so much for sharing!

I gave up on terrariums years ago. But today I hear the advice to let the soil touch the bottom. Everything I've read separates the layers. This makes so much more sense! Thank you Nick. Time to get out those glass containers! Now, can someone recommend where I can get a mini syngonium?? That looks awesome!

The one I made makes me happy. Recycled a 5 gallon glass aquarium, left the undergravel filters in place. Added the red aquarium gravel back in. Set my planted babies in. Have a cover & lights.Occupants? Manjula pothos, airplants, orchid. Everybody happy. Yes I do ventilate so nothing rots. The UG filters helps with moisture, got a real bio-system.

Hi Nick! Enjoyed the video and how you explained everything a lot. Would there be any plants that you don't recommend using for terrariums, as well as how you maintain the size of the plants inside? I'm super interested in the concept of terrariums but haven't been able to figure out much about what to avoid. Thank you :)

Very pretty but I certainly would have made some different plant choices rather than those that were chosen here because these will outgrow this small container in a month or two. The trouble with shopping for terrarium plants at a garden center or big box store is that the choices offered are typically just very young versions of larger growing plants. For example the bird's nest fern grows into a giant plant that normally grows on trees in nature. By choosing truly diminutive growing plants, the terrarium would have a much longer lifespan and a more pleasing appearance when the plants are kept in scale with the size of the container. I think that the viewers will have greater satisfaction, success, and more pleasing results with a few of these plant recommendations: tiny African violets such as Sinningia musicola, oak leaf creeping fig, mini mondo grass, a tiny fern called Bolbitis heteroclita difformis, a tiny Aroid called Syngonium ' Teeny Tiny", perhaps smaller growing sundews and butterworts as well. (Just to name a few) Have fun! I planted my first terrarium about 50 years ago and still take great satisfaction watching my plants grow in miniature glass enclosed plantscapes with probably 100 or more terrariums in my home. 😁👍

I've made 2 in 2 gallon glass jars with lids, like a huge cookie jar. And 2 in little wardian cases. But I have a fish bowl I want to make one out of that I can't decide what to plant. I was playing with the idea of a sundew bog. But I can't make up my mind lol
